After an absence of more than a year I was able to return to Alexander's with two young friends as thanks for their house sitting for me when I travel.
I love the quiet ambience of this classic restaurant. With comfortable seating and space between tables to enjoy quiet conversation it's a great place to spend a fun evening with friends and family.
The food is always amazing. We enjoyed the deconstructed California roll and crab cakes for appetizers, followed by perfectly seared scallops and an incredibly tender filet.
Drinks are well made and the classic desserts close out the evening.
Overall our first experience at Alexander’s was good. However, the appetizer selection was not very big and the one we ordered was nothing special. The wine selection was great and the main entree was delicious. I wish the salad had a little more to it. It was decent but not super flavorful and not what we expected for a restaurant of that caliber. We would go back again though!
Great dining experience. Waiter was very helpful with meal selections and service was very good.
Nice date night spot. Overall good food; great service. Entrees were excellent, drinks were good, appetizers and desserts were decent.
Excellent food and service. Knowledgeable attentive staff made our experience. This is our new “go to” place for fine dining.
Always the best food and service. No one in Roanoke does it better!
Outstanding service, excellent in every way. Delicious Oyster bisque, perfectly seared filet mignon, all of us immensely pleased.
Alexander's is Roanoke's number one restaurant. Enough said.
Always a wonderful dining experience, food is great ‼️
We where really impressed by both the food and service at Alexander’s
Went to celebrate our anniversary, my filet was perfect, my wife had shrimp that was very good. Try the pomegranate martini, it was excellent.
Still fabulous and delicious with impeccable service!
Great dinner. Our favorite restaurant in Roanoke.
As always, food and service top notch. We felt so special and cared for.
By far our favorite restaurant! We recommend often and visit every chance that we get. The food is incredible and the staff is just amazing.
This was our first time to Alexander's. Our table was near the service station despite being the first patrons of the night, and given we made the reservation weeks before. The cocktails were excellent. Highly recommend the crab cake (though it was small and pricey). Shrimp with duck tallow potatoes was greasy and tasteless. Pecan crusted chicken was outstanding; I'd order this again. The lamb porterhouse was delicious but the serving was quite small, especially given the price ($43). Dessert (almond cake) was adequate - a little dry. Overall, it was definitely one of the better restaurants in the area. We'll try it again!
There is no finer restaurant in the Roanoke area than Alexander’s. I’ve been dining there for nearly 20 years and everything is and has always been consistently perfect.
Food and service was amazing as always! We even got the table we had requested. The prices are a bit on the expensive side but when everything is so good it really is worth the money. The pecan chicken was perfect and the sautéed shrimp delicious. We always choose Alexander’s when we want a special evening.
Good, I’ll go again
It was our anniversary. 15 years ago we held our reception at Alexander's. It has been consistently wonderful all these years.
Another fabulous meal! Introduced three new folks to the best restaurant in Roanoke. Can hardly wait to go back.
Alexander’s is our favorite place to celebrate with family and friends. We have never been disappointed with every aspect of our experience there.
Very good food. Outstanding service.
Excellent food and service. Very attentive staffed who answered all of our questions, great location downtown. Would highly recommend!
Alexander’s is a quiet, high value, excellent food and service restaurant. If you find other eating places to be too noisy, try Alexander’s.
Our must restaurant to eat every time we are in Roanoke.
Alexanders is one of our favorites! The place family and friends always want to go when they come to Roanoke
Great food and ambience!
Alexander's has been in the elegant entertainment business for a long time, and yet the place seems as fresh and as vibrant as ever.
Very good food. Excellent service.
Alexander’s provided us with another memorable dinner celebration. Every aspect of our visit was delightful! Staff was attentive, engaging, and respectful. The courses were each perfectly prepared and presented. Our courses included appetizers (deconstructed California rolls), salads, entrees (lamb tenderloin for the birthday celebrant and beef for me), and dessert (double chocolate bread pudding (candle added)). Just spectacular!!!
Amazing meal - every course was outstanding. Service was great.
An amazing experience!!! Dinner selection was excellent, service amazing, could not have been better!!
Elegant quiet white tablecloth atmosphere, soft jazz music, professional service. Deconstructed California roll was tasty, but expensive for 3 very small pieces of crab (we understand there is currently a scarcity of Chesapeake Bay crabs, other restaurants have chosen to eliminate from their menu until the situation improves). The filet of beef was perfectly prepared. The sautéed shrimp with corn and tomatoes was prepared well, but lacked flavor and had only one cherry tomato cut in half (I don’t believe there is a scarcity of available tomatoes!). The chocolate soufflé bread pudding had a deep chocolate flavor and the hazelnut tart was delicious.
Excellent experience on a Wednesday night. Every dish was well presented and tasty. The server was friendly and knowledgeable. The food was a tad slow, but the food quality was worth waiting for.
excellent dining experience. The staff was attentive but never the center of attention, which left us the opportunity for us to focus on each other and our conversation.
Thank you for providing us with a wonderful evening.
Great little place with romantic ambiance, stellar food, fabulous wine and cocktails. Will be at the top of our repeat list when visiting Roanoke again.
We absolutely love Alexander's! Highly recommend!
The food, I had duck, and the service were great. my only complaint would be the volume of the music.
Amazing: We had some wonderful wines, soft shell crabs and perfect service. Thank you
