Alexander's - Roanoke

They took care of our group of 8 perfectly! Exceptional food and service, as usual. Everyone enjoyed their meal and praised the food, including a person in our group who runs their own restaurant. A good time was had by all. Great job!

Alexander’s has been one of our favorite spots for 8 years. We have celebrated countless occasions in their quaint dining room with delicious food and amazing service.

Always a wonderful place to eat. Very good wait staff. Among the very best anywhere and we’ve seen many in our travels. Menu is a bit limited, but good selections and always nicely prepared.

Our favorite nice restaurant in the Roanoke area. This was the 3rd time we have dined at Alexander's. My wife had the Maine lobster bisque appetizer which she described as fantastic. We both ordered the Grouper special. I like the fact that a dinner salad is included with the entrees at Alexander's unlike a few of the other fine dining establishments in Roanoke. The salad included their own vinaigrette dressing. The grouper was cooked perfectly and was served on a type of corn pudding that was very tasty along with a fresh vegetable. Fresh bread was also served. The dessert mousse was yummy and perfect for two people. The wait staff are attentive, professional, and pleasant with several that have worked there for many years. Never a bad meal and you cannot go wrong when choosing Alexander's.

Not mentioned on the website or when making the reservations. Food was good, not innovative. Portions were small. Not worth the price.

My wife and I had dinner on a Saturday evening. The meal was delicious, the waitress kept the flow from appetizer to salad to dinner to dessert going at an absolutely perfect pace. Highly recommend Alexander's

Delicious as usual. I had the veal scallopini which was prepared to perfect satisfaction. Tasty Brussels sprouts to accompany along with excellent service and wine pairing. I highly recommend this restaurant!

Wonderful staff; cheerful and helpful. My starter and my entree, as well as the baguette were excellent. The dessert was disappointing, as it was dry cake.

Our dinner at Alexander's was the absolute highlight of Roanoke Restaurant Week. Our party explored all of the special offerings - The Mushroom Bread Pudding was delicious- real comfort food, the Squash Bisque was smooth and flavorful and the salad is always great with Alexander's signature vinaigrette. The Shrimp and Grits were yummy and the collards were a huge hit. The Tuscan Beef and Risotto was a super hearty dish, perfect for a cold night. The Pan Seared Tuna was beautiful and tasted as good as it looked. Both desserts were great - but the Lemon Mascarpone Cheesecake got top ranking. Service - as usual - was perfect. You always feel right at home at Alexander's.

Taking advantage of the Downtown Roanoke Restaurant Week. Dinner was amazing.

I thought it was presumptuous of the waiter to add an automatic 20% gratuity to the bill. There were times when we sat there waiting for our food to come out but they were pretty busy that night.

We have been customers of Alexander's for over 25 years. It is our go to place for special dinners. It is the best restaurant in the area! Bonnie and the staff provide a great experience each and every time. This visit we both had the veal scaloppini. It was wonderful. That coupled with the fresh and tasty salads, great wine and delicious chocolate glace' for desert capped off a great evening.

The dinner experience was excellent, as usual. The staff is very professional and knowledgeable. The food presentation is wonderful and tastes even better than it looks. We have had a variety of entrees and have never been even slightly disappointed.

The service was exceptional. The food was quite good and the price point was as expected for a more upscale restaurant. The environment is a bit dated and the clientele was definitely of a certain age. This was the first time I have eaten here and I would go back again especially if I had older people in the party.

Attentive, knowledgeable, professional -- and witty -- staff in the front of the house. Portions were notably larger than any of us expected, yet uniformly cooked. Exquisite preparation of our meals let the intrinsic flavors of our lamb chops, pork chop, and halibut shine, without being overshadowed by seasoning or ostentatious presentation. The vegetables (local and seasonal), desserts, and cocktails mirrored the elegance of the entrees: interesting, subtle combinations of flavors were faithful to the ingredients, not flashy nor over the top.

We had a lovely time. The food was excellent and met expectations. The wait staff was gracious and helpful. They always remember our names and our favorite table. It is our favorite place to dine.

Sophisticated setting, elegant food and extensive menu, and good service

We always feel so well taken care of at Alexander's--the service is prompt and courteous but also personal (they use our names). Every bite of the food is tasty but it is also beautifully arranged. It's one of the few restaurants where I can hear my companions and they me without shouting. Thanks for the elegant experience, Alexander's.

Alexander’s was exactly what we were looking for our date night. The ambiance was peaceful and food very tasty.

Our anniversary dinner at Alexamder's was wonderful from the salad to dessert! We look forward to returning soon.

The service at Alexander's seems to have become very spotty at best. However, the food quality is generally exceptional. With little effort, this restaurant can easily return to the top tier of choices in Roanoke. I hope they do so.

Dined here before and it was much better. long wait for some wine. Bland crayfish appetizer, and (uncleaned shrimp) app swimming in butter. creme brulee was nice.

Alexander's once again provided my family and me with a wonderful evening. The food, service, and atmosphere were superb. We here in Roanoke are fortunate to have this treasure in our downtown.
