Alex Madonna’s Gold Rush Steak House, at Madonna Inn
Excellent food and atmosphere, with the big band orchestra and lots of dancing. This is a great place for a special occasion, and it made our son's graduation from Cal Poly very special. We will definitely come here again!
The atmosphere was great and the food was spectacular. If I had to point out a negative it would be that it is a little pricey.
Yes it is pink but it is fabulous! It really is a special experience. The food was very good (basic steakhouse fare, well prepared, large portions); the service and ambience were awesome. Also, corkage is a reasonable $15. Be sure to try the signature pink champagne cake (one piece is enough for four). I suggest starting for drinks in the also pink bar or perhaps in the wine cellar down below and ending by visiting the extensive gift shop upstairs.
44 year anniversary
Anniversary dinner was great. They had a few little surprises for us when we got to our table. Food and service was great! Loved the live music. Will definitely come back.
Such a delightfully kitschy and fun spot! Delicious food, especially the desserts.
The atmosphere is to die for. It seriously feels like you are in another world. Also, one of the few places left that understands what it means to call yourself a “steakhouse”. The quality of the filet mignon I ordered was second to none.
All of the staff members were incredibly nice and gave great service. We felt welcomed at every turn. If the food was even a fraction as good as the people were nice it would be a great restaurant. The prices ($28 for fried chicken) would indicate this was a more high end restaurant as it claims but the food was wildly disappointing. I got the pasta with a side salad and my partner got the friend chicken. The salads had heaps of dressing slopped on them and otherwise tasteless. The pasta also had a ton of the cream sauce and very little flavor to go with it. The fried chicken had way over cooked asparagus on the side and was also underwhelming itself. Go for the people and the ambiance they are GREAT! The food is not worth the price. Not even close.
Food was great. Our server was awesome and friendly
Unfortunately, the quality has really gone down. Our steaks were cold in the middle and bloody. We ordered them medium well. The cake had been cut with a knife that must have been used to cut onions. It tasted horrible. $200 for a horrible dining experience. Won’t make that mistake again.
Love everything about this place! Service and food is exceptional. They even have live music when we were there.
We have eaten at the Madonna Inn a number of times, most recently two weeks ago.
This was the best experience we have had. The food was superb and our server, Alli, was outstanding.
This is one of our favorite places to celebrate birthdays and anniversaries!
The food is delicious. The menu has gone through several changes over the past 20 years. Steaks are still the primary item. As they should be!! Melt in your mouth goodness! They also offer several other selections such as: lamb or pork chops. Chicken, seafood and pasta also can be found on the menu!
Save room for a sinful slice of one of their amazingly delicious cakes! We are partial to the champagne and chocolate ones!!!
Bring your 📷 to take pictures of the Madonna Inn steakhouse. It's classic and kitsch!
One of the Best steaks in northern California! Tender, flavorful, juicy, grilled to perfection. Well worth the trip to dine here... they had a band playing in the dance floor, the ambiance was great, the wood carvings and interior decors were impressive. Decent wine list.
Madonna Inn Gold Rush Steak House is our go to for special occasions. We gladly drive the 40 minutes. The food was excellent the cake that was ordered wad presented well and tje band was playing for a dance or two.
Amazing ambience and food.
There’s no place like it and I would recommend this place to anyone passing through in terms of atmosphere, however for the cost of the food, the standard was quite low - obviously good ingredients but very plain and boring flavours. Nothing to write home about. Needs more pizazz!
My sister visits me very year about this time and our first stop is always dinner at Madonna's It has never failed to be outstanding. Dining here is a real treat for us and we look forward to it. Our steaks were cooked to perfection and I enjoyed the asparagus was a nice change from the former pea pods. We are already looking forward to next year.
The atmosphere was absolutely enchanting and divine, food was delicious, service was excellent, and there was jazz musicians playing live in another room. It was a beautiful experience that I would like over and over again ♡
Prime rib was inedible.
Super nice staff!! And food was delicious!!! Loved the atmoaphere!!!
We were celebrating our 44th anniversary. The food was exceptional, as always. The filet mignon is still the best I ever get anywhere. The service, after a small snafu, was fantastic.
I highly recommend Alex Madonna Gold Rush Steakhouse. We go there whenever we can, although it’s not often enough since we live in Rocklin, CA, over 4 hours away.
Other than it being prom night or something it was absolutely lovely. One loud teenager ( I assume).
The ambience is super cool very pink flower and cherub is everywhere!! Such a fun place !
Good food, fun atmosphere and unique experience. Would come again.
Loved everything food was superb
It was decadent and beautiful
Dinner was delicious and relaxing. The service was on point. Our waitress, Jamie was super helpful and kind.
I ordered the bbq chicken, and it was ok. The service and he ambiance is what made it worth it.
Well, we requested that it was a birthday , but no one ever came over to address it. I’ve been here many times and this time I wasn’t really impressed overall. Maybe just an off day for a Monday.
Lovely place. Almost like a fairytale. Very serviceminded waitress. We loved it.
I was so happy we get to celebrate our anniversary at MadonnaInn Restaurant. The place is beautiful, excellent service and delicious food. The complimentary balloon and cake is a plus. I really had a great time. Would love to come back and highly recommended.
Fantastic Dinner. Abalone was outstanding!!! Steaks cooked perfectly.
I LOVE going to Madonna for their brunch.....Easter and Mother’s Day. Food was excellent, service was great BUT, they ran out of crab legs!! I assume that is one reason the price is higher than Easter brunch. For as organized as they are they should have allocated putting out a certain amount of crab legs per hour. A suggestion may be to have someone stand at the crab leg table and serve each customer rather than allowing them to serve themselves, as I understand some people had their plates piled high. This way they could come back for more but not take so many that others had none. Just a thought, kinda like the Prime Rib station. Other than this snafu, which WAS a big deal to many, everything was spot on as usual.
Service was pretty terrible! Our waiter seemed bothered & annoyed that he had a job to do. We had to keep asking for refills. Also we had to keep motioning to clear the used plates. I’m hoping he was just having an off day & he really isn’t that horrible of a waiter. Also the seating was a little to claustrophobia status this time around. We requested a table for 6 Not 16, we were less than 12 inches from the person sitting next to us. Overall it was a pretty terrible experience especially when you consider what it cost.
When my mom said she wanted to go to Madonna Inn for brunch the highlight was that the fb ad said they would have crab and lobster. When we got there at 12 there was no lobster and the crab legs were frozen and smelled fishy. The prime rib was the best I have ever had I my life though and the baked Bri and smoked salmon was the savior of the meal. The home made strawberry shortcake was magnificent although I tried looking for the famous pink champagne and black Forrest cake and neither were out as the advertisement listed. I think I will just take my mom back to Seaventure as we have never been disappointed in the past for Mother’s day and just come back to Madonna for the prime rib.
The amazing decor, ambiance and outstanding customer service made for the best Mother’s Day brunch ever! Happy mama.
Seated thirty minutes past reservation time. After waiter sat us, took initial drink order, dropped off ordered drinks, we never saw him again until we were asked to pay. We had to grab a pitcher of water from the wait station to refill our drinks. We flagged down other wait staff to clear our plates from the table. Only one champagne provided with brunch when other venues provide all you can drink champagne and/or bloody Mary’s with brunch for the same or lower price.
They apparently have changed their Mother's Day Brunch policy to now include only one glass of champagne, rather than the "bottomless" mimosas we have traditionally enjoyed for years - yet the price was still the same. That was an unexpected and disappointing surprise, but I guess it wasn't a huge deal. The food was still quite good, and that was the most important part. The noise level was to the point we could hardly hear each other talk, but I think that was contributed more to it being a busy holiday and the time of day we chose our reservations for. I'd still recommend it!
Go for the ambiance. The food is not the best. I ordered the fried chicken, husband ordered New York steak, mom ordered filet mignon. Not one of us thought the food was good enough for the price.
On the other hand, our service waiter was exceptional and truly made our day. Great decor and a must visit at least once in your life!
