Everything was wonderful! Armand took care of us and we had a lovely time. We ordered four tapas: chorizo, fried calamari, flamed manchego cheese, prawns and we got the seafood paella. Great food and ambiance. We will definitely come back again!
Soooooo good. The food was fresh, homemade, colorful.
A true hidden gem. Walkable from the wharf area. Great selection of tapas. Wish we could have had more but there is only so much we can eat! The grilled asparagus with manchego was just sublime.
We had a fun birthday celebration and the staff was wonderful and the food delicious. We will be back.
Always a pleasure dining here. Arman is a wonderful host/owner and the food was superb!
We enjoyed every dish we ordered and the service exceeded our expectations. Nice hard-working people.
Humble on the outside but outstanding on the inside
Very small plates for the price! The Spanish tortilla was ridiculously small and dry
Callos good and chorizo too. Croquetas fine.
The staff were wonderful about finding us a table where our friend could sit in her walker, and attentive without hovering throughout the evening. Their sangria is excellent, especially in that all of the fruit was edible ( no lemon wedges). All of the food was very tasty and had an authentic feel. The only disappointment was the paella being “saffron flavored” with no actual saffron visible. I would and will absolutely go there again.
Enjoyed our meal, met a nice couple sitting next to us. Food was good, Valencia’s paella was perfect. With the right amount of soccarat.
Service was limited due to short staff, it the place was packed. It was stuffy, and felt uncomfortable due to the amount of people packed into a small place.
I’ll goo again when it’s less. Rowdies.
My first Dining Experience at Alegrias was absolutely PERFECT. I am so looking forward to returning. The quality of the cuisine, the pristine and very professional and knowledgeable service displayed by all staff, the lovely physical setting and the Spanish acoustic guitar music played at just the right volume resulted in my having a Perfect evening.
I researched Spanish restaurants after watching Anthony Bourdain's No Reservation episode in Madrid. The Jamon Iberico de Bellota was so inviting and I so wished to have it. Alegrias was definitely my choice and I was so right in choosing it. The Jamon was an ample serving and so delicious; the marinated olives, the boguerones with piquillo peppers, pulpo a la gallega and paella a la mariners all were exquisite. I chose flan and a cafe con leche for my dessert. Juan, who has been with Alegrias for 17 years provided me with his extensive knowledge about the cuisine and the wine selection. I chose GIRO del Gorner Cava Gran Reserve. An example of the attentive but never intrusive service of all staff - my glass of iced water was never less that 3/4 filled.! I admired the lovely Spanish guitar recordings and asked my server for the name of the artist. Both he and the Owner, Arman very tactfully wrote the artists names for me during the evening. I have failed to mention that my evening began when I was greeted so warmly by Angelynne. She (co-owner with her husband) set the tone for my evening! I knew that I would need "boxes" for home but I so wanted to taste so many of the items and I was not disappointed at all. The staff was very helpful in preparing my items to take home.
As I have already stated My Experience at Alegrias was Absolutely Perfect!! I so look forward to returning and having more of their wonderful cuisine.
The only slight downside was the # of servers--all pandemic related. Overall, an excellent choice for having dinner with our friends.
Great ambiance. Made me feel like I was in Spain again.
Took my parents out for dinner here and they are typically very picky about Spanish food as my mother’s family is from Spain. The place got my mother’s seal of approval. The wine was excellent, and the food was authentic Spanish food. We ordered the fried calamari and it was cooked very well and not over cooked, which is typically a problem at many other restaurants. The Paella was also very good. Would definitely come back again.
It was a birthday celebration and very fun. The staff and diners all sang the birthday song.
We had a wonderful time last night- thank you!
love it there! couple owned place. beautiful evening! will be coming back
Loved this little gem! Amazing food, great story, beautiful couple!!❤️
The food was amazing. There’s just one outdoor table out front, not a
Excellent food, good service, good ambiance. Even though they’re Tapas, they were pricey. I left hungry but wasn’t going to spend $15-18 for 2 crab cakes or 2 empanadas.
A delightful venue for authentic tapas and a warm and welcoming staff. Delicious sangrias as well!
Fabulous. Paella is out of this world. Also love the olives.
This is an excellent tapas restaurant to go to with two friendly owners providing great service.
One of my very favorite restaurants in San Francisco. Superb Spanish food, with a warm welcome and excellent and friendly service. Recently changed hands, but still family owned and serving exactly the same food as before the sale, with quality undiminished. Generally quiet, but can become a little lively later in the evening on busy nights.
The best paella in San Francisco (indeed, best I have ever had outside Spain, and the equal of any there), with excellent Tapas. Particularly suggest the Empanadillas de Carne and Calamares Fritos (best fried calamari anywhere).
Took two different parties of friends there recently, and they all absolutely loved the food. Best quality at a modest price.
Fantastic food! Fantastic wine! Fantastic service! Highly recommend!
I normally never write reviews but this cozy neighborhood place is exceptional. The paella was the beast I’ve ever had and I’ve had it in Spain! The man he go flambé and the mushrooms were also excellent! Loved the sangria! The server was very attentive and anticipated our every need. Try this place , you will not be disappointed.
Service wasn’t great - we waited 25 minutes after being seated before a waiter came over to the table. We ordered 5 tapas, one of which never showed up. Of the 4 plates we received, none were particularly good. We also ordered a paella - the rice was overcooked, to the point where it was almost a risotto. The interior of the restaurant was cramped and our table for two was very small - I’m 6’ tall and my legs didn’t fit under the table with my chair pushed in. It seems like an authentic, family run Spanish restaurant and the staff were really friendly, but there are better options in SF for paella and tapas.
Great service, food, and ambiance. Had the vegetable paella and it tasted heavenly. Every bite was soft and chewy eagerly waiting for the next bite to come around. Great service provided by our server as well with his communication skills and recommendations.
Were looking for a good Spanish restaurant to have Paella and not be overpriced. This was the perfect spot AND the other seafood dishes were amazing.
Food was mediocre.
Outdoor seating was on the street.
Great food, nice ambience, and very friendly staff!
I passed by this restaurant so many times and didn't know what I was missing out. Everything was great and super friendly service. We will be back again!
The food was top notch. We will be fantasizing about it for a long time!
I would recommend this as a spot for couples or a small group, as the restaurant is a more little intimate, IMO. My gf and I ordered five plates total and we were completely satisfied. The food was incredible and the wine was exquisite. The waiter recommended a great Tempranillo to go along with an eclectic mix of seafood, cheese, and veggies. My only criticism would be that the service suffered a bit as the restaurant filled, but that is being nit picky. I never really wanted for anything and it was quite nice to just take it easy and relax after a long day of exploring the city.
**The flan changed my life. It is a must try.
Great service and very hospitable!
Great dining experience , owner Arman shows amazing hospitality , attention to detail. Good and affordable wine menu.
Great food, great service , great wine , what a gem !!!!
What else can you ask for ?
Highly recommended !!!
Dinner was delicious. The ambience was very romantic and the service was great. We've really enjoyed our time here.
Food was great but service was slow. No social distancing between tables.
They charged me for 2 items I did not order aioli potatoes and one more entreee
The new owners have not replicated the excellent menu of the founders. The paella Valenciana, one of my favorites was mostly rice and not ample amounts if seafood or chorizo. A real disappointment.
I hope they improve since I went there often entertaining clients and staff
What a surprising find! Just around the corner from the main Cow Hollow strip, we found this unassuming place - but unassuming from the outside only. We were greeted so nicely by all the staff as we walked to our table, our servers were friendly and knowledgeable and the food was incredible. We stuck to an all vegetarian meal (heavy on the cheese), and every dish was delicious. Great portion sizes, subtle yet confident flavors. Our favorite was the Queso Flambeado. Oh, and great wine list!
The staff was so sweet and the food was wonderful! Truly a unique experience
