Alegrias Food from Spain
We had an amazing time as always. The food is delicious
Ambiance and service is very nice. Hot appetizers such as the gambas al ajillo were served warm at most and should have been sizzling hot. The paella was mediocre and the mussels had a bad smell to them. The owner walked by my table multiple times but never said hi or asked how the meal was going. I will not return.
Our family has been going there for years and we love the food! It is very authentic Spanish food and they have the best sangria on the west coast!
We had tapas...particularly good were the mushrooms and the desserts...flan and chocolate mousse. We’ll put this on our regular list when we are in the Marina.
Excellent food and great service in a typically Spanish style setting.
This place is great! I am absolutely in love with Spanish food, and Alegrias definitely does it very well. We had a whole bunch of classics: tortilla, gambas, pulpo, croquetas, and several others and they were all delicious. The staff is very friendly, there's a family feeling about the place and the ambiance is very inviting. Highly recommend.
Good food. Chill/Cozy. Authentic.
Good food especially the paella, a bit noisy but this is a terrific value for what you get.
A hidden gem that serves real Spanish food, not fusion style. The empanadas are delicious with a light flaky pastry. The Iberico Ham is a great deal especially when compared to other Spanish restaurants in SF.
We had a very pleasant evening and tried a wide variety of dishes--all good!
Food was super good. Service was above and beyond expectations.
This is a place where you can bring a date or your family!!!
Food was good and so was ambiance
This was our 3rd time there ... nice small plates dishes & quaint atmosphere. $20 corkage for bringing our own wine.
My 3rd time to Alegrias. Alway enjoyable.
This was our forth time in Alegrias and we'll keep coming. Their empanadas are great. The melted goat cheese delicious. All tapas and paellas are pretty good. The wines are not my favorite as I usually get them by the glass, I would like to see more red wine options by the glass that are not blends. Overall is highly recommendable.
This is a very enjoyable dining experience in general. The tapas plates were above average but not exceptional by Bay Area standards, poorly plated and presented. The wine by the glass list needs a major redo. Neither the Tempranillo nor the basic red were drinkable. Service and ambiance was exceptionally good
We are semi-regular patrons of Alegrias and really favor it alot as there are few Spanish restaurants in SF. The food is quite good overall. Only slight negatives are the tapas are quite pricey depending on what one orders. Jamon iberico is $17, the pulpo is $14, and the seafood/chicken and seafood paella prices have increased to $30 from $27 nowadays. So if there are quite a bit of tapas plus paella(s) the total is extremely pricey especially as the portions are very small. In Spain tapas these sizes are much much less, costly, but we know it's SF and prices are just higher than practically anywhere else in the world.
Service was fine except when they are so busy, which they were on the night we dined there, the server didn't come by to refill our water glasses; we had to request it.
One thing I have to note and which we feel is a bit unfair is that the owner/head chef sometimes comes out to talk to certain diners. This has occurred on many of the occasions we dined there. To be ignored, which many of us were again, is quite rude. Why bother to speak to only certain diners instead of all? It's best to not even do so because it leaves a bad impression to those who were ignored as they also paid good money to patronize the restaurant.
One of our very favorite restaurants in SF. Aside from the great food, the best thing about this place is that it is QUIET---you can actually hold a civil conversation with your wife without the din and "vibe" of too many restaurants these days.
Very good San Francisco Tapas restaurant. Warm ambience, good service and great variety of Tapas and Paella to choose from. Wine was an outstanding value.
Staff was very friendly, great ambiance, and a great (large) selection of tapas.
Three of us shared Tapas and desserts and our meal was great. Our server was friendly, attentive and informed. We're looking forward to returning for the Paella.
My friends and I always enjoy coming here… often! We are always well received & can expect consistently lovely tasty Spanish food and terrific sangria ... and in such an incredibly comfy and civilized ambiance
Very nice ambience; great family food.
Outstanding in every way. I recommend it highly. Run, don’t walk to Alegrias.
A wonderful place to wine and dine. We loved the service and the wonderful atmosphere. Great paella, great wine and beer choices! WE HIGHLY RECOMMEND THIS PLACE!
A short walk from Fisherman's wharf (25min) but well worth it. We ordered two plates each and a bottle of Olatu from northern Spain (waiter rec). Just the right amount of food and all types - meat, fish, veg, potato. We could even hear each other talk! Muy authentico; I recommend eating here.
Regrets? Just passing through, may not be here to eat again.
Ps. Our server was informative and helpful.
Good place; paella was good. We celebrated our anniversary there.
Great food, service and atmosphere! This is my go-to restaurant when entertaining out-of-town guests. Five different paellas to share.
Amazing food and delicious sangria!!
The waiter was exceptional and friendly. The sangria was very tasty.
Maravilloso! Authentic Spanish food cooked and served by family. Loved the cozy atmosphere and enjoyed the delicious food. If you want to eat real Spanish food, it’s worth the trip. We can’t wait for our next trip to San Francisco!
Very good tapas. One of the best in SF. You need to check this quiet and unassuming Spanish tapas restaurant
Great authentic spanish tapas and paella. Friendly service from the moment you are greeted to the end. Staff knows what they are doing and makes you feel part of the family. Food was delicious. Ask for recommendations if you are not sure. We had the tortilla a la española, gambas, spinach which was a big hit. The paella was very authentic. Everything was delicious and at the end of the meal were were completely satisfied and happy with our whole dinning experience. I will be back and recommend it to you.
Amazing restaurant. I went there with friends after coming back from Barcelona, because I started missing Spanish food, and was very satisfied with Alegrias. Very cozy place with friendly homey vibe. Great menu selection. And incredible food. Definitely coming back here.
Nice ambience, great food, owner’s family art on the wall , great romantic diner!
A warm nice place, unexpected ambiance. Will go again.
This place is the real deal. I wouldn't be disappointed if this was the quality of restaurant I found in Madrid.
Everytime we dine at Alegrias, we find ourselves not only enjoying the dinner but the service and the ambience is so friendly and comfortable.
The Tapas were all very good . The Paella was not up to the mark , seemed to be something hastlly put togther and there was no hint of saffron any where and looked more like tamoto based coloring. Other than the Paella , we had an enjoyable meal with very reasonable prices by San Francisco standards .
We were visiting from Australia and we are into tapas, this is a very nice place with really good food, avarege price for San Francisco which is getting expensive compared with previous times.
I would go there again
