Aldo's Ristorante Ratings and Reviews
28 years ago my wife and I went on our first date together ... Aldos was wonderful then and now 28 years later it was even more wonderful. Our waiter, Michael, was very attentive and excellent ... could have had none better. Thank you for a wonderful meal and experience. We always celebrate our anniversary and my wife’s birthday at Aldo’s and will continue to do so.
Excellent lobster dish - husband gets it every time we go! Was very pleased that the kichen could accommodate switching sauces for a pasta special - appreciated their flexibility. Our waiter Lorenzo was pleasant and accommodating, though not as personable as the other waiter we typically have (can’t remember his name). Overall, excellent meal as usual :)
Dinner was amazing!!! Great food and drinks. Jennifer was our server and she was fantastic. She was very knowledgeable of the menu, specials and cocktails. Everything is recommended was delicious! We will definitely be back. Thank you for a great night out.
Nice, good sized Italian serving a fairly good but not exhaustive menu. We asked for veal saltimbocco even though it was not on the menu and it was great. Pizza and pastas were excellent. Shrimp Gorgonzola was nice, shrimp were big and fresh. Try and avoid the tables in front of open kitchen if you don’t want to hear the clanging of dishes. Nice ambiance. Would return.
Overall first experience was good. Dishes prepared and seasoned well. The staff is extra accommodating. May come back for a second try. Overall good/fair experience. Nothing stood out in mind to want to go back right away. Limited selection of creativity when it comes to authentic Italian dishes. Very fresh but very common type dishes.
Always worth the 1.5 hour drive each way in tidewater traffic for a great dining event.
We did Valentines a day early to avoid the crowds and our timing was perfect.
Service very good and food outstanding. Orders prepared well and served timely but
not rushed or unduly delayed.
As always, our favorite restaurant in Hampton Roads for a romantic night out with my wife of 27 years!! Veal, wine, and dessert were excellent, but I am sad to say that the Calamari appetizer was chewy and fishy tasting. I will not order that again, but that will not sway our review of Aldo’s. We will return!
Aldo’s was recommended by a friend and it was an awesome experience. My wife loved the wine and the food was fresh and delicious. The waiters were very knowledgeable and polite, they explained everything and made recommendations for us to try. Overall an excellent spot, we’ll definable be coming back.
We were there for lunch celebrating my aunt's birthday. Our experience could not have been more perfect! Our server, Jennifer took such good care of us--checking on us, continually refilling our drinks, delivering the food in a timely manner, bringing us extra plates, clearing empty dishes, and asking us several times if we needed anything else; we had to wonder how she had time for any other tables. :-D In addition to our server, other staff stopped by our table, making us feel so welcome. The food was absolutely delicious, too! As I already mentioned, a perfect experience!!
The lamb was over cooked and borderline rancid. The crab app had no flavor and the avocado wasn't even close to ripe. The antipasto was boring, nothing fresh or exciting. Service was good, except he had no comment on the fact that I didn't touch the lamb entree !!! We ordered a bottle of Groth cab, $100, you'd think he would pay attention !!! Wouldn't go back !!!!
Usually, Aldo’s is a can’t miss. Great Northern Italian cuisine. I had the pasta meatball special. The girl
serving us was obviously new. She missed a couple service cues.
The big surprise was that the wine list was out of date. The 2012 Barolo I ordered was not in inventory. Because Aldo’s has a great reputation in wine service, and a few of the staff I met in my Sommelier training, I hold them to a higher standard. First rule, take responsibility for the menu. The excuses I received was everything but taking responsibility. The bartender blamed the menu and the bar manager ( I assume not a Somm) said it was the vendors fault. Both lame arguments.
As always the food was good, but not a good day on the service side. There’s always next time.
