Aldo's Ristorante Italiano Ratings and Reviews
Cozy spot off the main road, sparkling clean with wonderful views. Warm and inviting interior. Amazing staff, attentive in every way, wide variety of delicious menu options. Attractive wine list accompanied by high-end liquor options. I recommend the lasagne. The cheesecake is divine, perfect with coffee after dinner. Perfect for date night, will certainly do again.
Had high expectations based on referral from friends and reviews-- our experience didn't match up. Service was poor to mediocre. Not sure who our waiter was. Seemed overly busy with large party in the next room and we were an afterthought. My wife ordered the Pollo Gorgonzola. Not sure what happened, but the cheese in the dish was NOT Gorgonzola--stringy with very mild flavor. When we asked the staff, the response was, "It is Gorgonzola." I expected more of an explanation. He took off (presumably for higher priority task) before we could follow up. I ordered the Scallopine Caprusso-- very good flavor, but strong on the garlic. Good for me, but some may find it strong.
Overall, an OK experience, but not worth the $$.
We (family party of 6) had a very nice Christmas Eve dinner at Aldo's. The food was a little pricey but very good. The waiter was pleasant and attentive, without being intrusive. The place was decorated nicely for the holidays. They were busy, but we didn't feel at all rushed or neglected. We have come here for Christmas Eve dinner many times and it has become a nice tradition.
Our family came to Aldo’s for a Christmas Eve dinner. We found Aldo’s to be one of the best Italian restaurants that we’ve been to. We are out of towners visiting San Antonio for the holiday. Aldo’s was found by reading reviews online which did not steer us wrong...The plates were deliciously prepared with a great presentation and service as well. The ambience is beautiful with the renovated house decor. Loved it! I highly recommend it.
Aldo's is always a favorite. The beautiful building and outdoor patio makes you feel like you are dining in a home. The lighting and décor is beautiful, the food consistently amazing, and the service beyond compare. Every visit you are made to feel special and the live piano music on Friday and Saturday just makes the ambience perfect. Jaime behind the bar is a favorite among all regulars and new guests, and all the servers hustle to make sure everything is just right. And of course Aldo is always a gracious and accommodating host. No other place like this in town.
We were overnight in the northern reaches of S. A. and wanted a decent meal. Most of the places up there are fast food franchises, but Aldo's was a nice find - 1 mile from our hotel. Good service, polite mgt and the food was excellent.
I had the escargot to start - nice, plump and with a proper butter. garlic, parsley sauce. For mains we had the veal piccata and the veal chop. The scallopini was very tender and the cop was one of the best I've had in USA.
I had not been to Aldo's in ten years, and was pleased to find the food much better than I remembered. Best Tiramisu I've found, including that in Italy. Tasty food, prepared just right. Large servings guarantee you'll take home a doggy bag. Friendly, helpful waiter, just the right amount of helpfulness. Everyone in our party was impressed. I won't wait ten years till my next visit. Deserves a place among San Antonio's many top-notch Italian restaurants.
