Alchemy - Elements Ratings and Reviews
This was my third visit to Alchemy and will be my last. I knew the service was slow, and that is fine to a degree. We arrived at 6:15 for a 6:30 reservation. The water was finally brought to the table at 6:40. a small piece of bread was delivered with an apology for the wait (should have been delivered with the water.I ordered a glass of wine. that arrived at about 7. We ordered crab dip to share and it arrived with my soup. I kept the soup until my companion's salad arrived at about 7:15. Entrees arrived at 7:20. and we had to move the other food to accommodate the entrees. I specified several times that I wanted Santa Cristina Pinot Grigio. when the bill came I was charged for another wine at $2 more. A complaint brought only an apology that theta was what the waiter had put into the computer, no adjustment to the bill--- my mistake your money.
After such a disaster of an evening, it would have been appropriate to take one of the glasses of wine off the check as an apology for the poor service. I simply reduced an already minimal (15%) tip by $4 (the difference between what I should have paid and what was charged. There were several apologies in the evening because the kitchen was not running well. however other diners were eating as we waited. We left after 8 PM.
Had a dinner for 2 this past Tuesday. When we arrived, even though the restaurant was not very busy, we were not immediately greeted. It took about 4 minutes beforethe host took us to our table. The waitress was friendly. We ordered 2 specialty martinis. Both were not super cold, even though i asked for the glass to be chilled. Our appetizers were good. We ordered the Crab Mac and Cheese which arrived only warm, not hot, but the Shrimp and grits was hot and very good. Upon ordering wine, my first 6 selections were not available. Not a very good sign and a bit frustrating. After finding a selection that they actually had, the waitress said that the manager had located my first selection, which was "The Prisoner". That said, our entrees were excellent. Both the Lamb chops as well as the Double Pork Chop was flavorful and hot. Overall, this restaurant has some issues. Further, the manager on staff should have recognized the situation and been more attentive. That said, not a horrible experience, just not polished. Management needs to update the wine list and have a full selection of wines and a bar that listens to guest request.
Drinks were good, food was delicious and service was friendly and accomandating. We always have a good time here. And never leave hungry. A little pricey but usually worth the price. I do wish they would have specials on the weekends just to change up the menu a little bit.
We celebrated our 5 year Anniversary here, this evening. My wife's steak and potatoes dish was amazing, as was my pork belly thai soup. We started w some delicious crab dip and ended the night with 2 glasses of unprompted champagne, courtesy of our AMAZING waitress, Shannon. She has now been dubbed "slammin Shannon." Go see her! We will!
Celebrated a birthday dinner there and as always, great service and excellent food. Our waiter Chris was very friendly and attentive without being overbearing. The mussels appetizer was delicious, as was the steak, perfectly cooked.
The bowl of fresh seasonal veggies was a nice touch as well.
If you aren't very hungry, the list of apps and small plates is really nice and a few of those with a nice glass of wine would satisfy you too.
I have only had two meals (Brunch with family and Dinner with friends). Had been a bit reluctant to make reservations because of previous negative feedback (too expensive and food not living up to monetary expectations). Both Brunch (for 4 people -each having something different- was excellent) and Dinner (3 people - each choosing a different entre- was excellent). All of us felt that quality equaled price. Our wait person for the Brunch was also the bartender that day; we received excellent service and he was very knowledgeable regarding our choices (answered all questions--was not afraid to say "will ask the chef" and did so). Our wait person for dinner, albeit very friendly and efficient, was unable to answer specific questions regarding our choices--which would have been ok but she made no effort to ask the chef so that we could have been enlightened. Nevertheless, I would not hesitate to go back.
Alchemy is a great spot for brunch or dinner. I had The seafood omelet and was very pleased. The brussel sprouts are very good too. The staff were very friendly, especially the bartender. The decor is very stylishly done to create an inviting atmosphere. This is definitely a neighborhood gem.
Our food was excellent. Enjoyed our dining there. There was one thing that bothered my husband and I. The young lady who greeted us when we arrived, excused herself to
set up our table. We had already made our reservations so the wait was a little too long. As we were standing waiting for her to return......two more couples came in behind us. There isn't much room for that many people to stand and wait. At one point....a family arrived with an elderly lady in a wheel chair. I had to go back further into the dining room to stand. The following day we came for brunch and as we sat at our table, there were more people waiting too long and there were empty tables. That young lady/greeter was also running back and forth
with parties waiting too long.
I was there for dinner @7:45 was seated on time . Drinks took to long and this is the first time we did not receive any bread at the table . We had to wait for the appetizer to get there to have some thing to munch on . I really love your restaurant but little disappointed this time .
Kids meals arrived 45 minutes ahead of adult main courses. Server neglected to refill soft drinks--- did not even ask! One entree arrived 20 minutes after everything else! Bread pudding was microwaved and rubbery. Apple cobbler was a few apples inside a floury paste. And finally, tenderloin steaks were undercooked! So very disappointing.
So happy to find this restaurant on Open Table! We heard a couple of positive testimonials via word-of-mouth and decided to give it a try. It's a great place and we thoroughly enjoyed the ambiance, delicious food, and the service was super, from the hostess and bartender to our server. We'll be back!
When on a first date here. The staff was super respectful of our space, very nice and accomodating. The best part was that they weren't pushy. The food and drink was great as per usual. The live music was nice but a touch too loud as we found eaxh other having to amost yell at reach other to talk. All around a very pleasant experience.
