Alchemy - Elements Ratings and Reviews
Saturday w the family brunch waitress was good my only concern is the inability to adapt the menu choices for instance my mother does not like onions and the potatoes included onions so she requested to get grits but they could not substitute even though grits were on the menu
Best restaurant in Bel Air. Was good when it opened and just keeps growing. Nice atmosphere, good cocktails, nice wine list with Debbie the sommelier with nice surprises always. Michael the chef is very talented with diverse cuisine. Not many restaurants downtown worth driving to. A+.
We brought in the New Year with our fantastic dinner at Alchemy Elements Restaurant.
The food was delicious, great recommendations by our Server, Guy, who recommended
a great wine to compliment our meal. His service is outstanding. We look forward to
returning to Alchemy Elements for another wonderful meal.
First time at AE and it was rather delicious. The burrata appetizer was one of the best we've had and perfectly sized for two people to share. The drinks were all amazing and quite diverse- something for everyone. I had the short-rib entree special which was good, but didn't pack the most powerful flavor punch. My girlfriend had the grouper which was delicious and flavorful, but came out somewhat cold. AE is definitely a nice option in Bel Air, whether for a family gathering or a night out with friends.
Typically enjoy my meals at Alchemy but this time everything seemed off. Our server is usually very good, attentive/informative. This time it just seemed like she needed to get our orders and keep things moving. It took way too long to get our cocktails. We received out appetizer before our initial drink order. All of the food was very average..everything lacked flavor and needed salt. We were with a group of 6 (our family from out of town) so regardless of where we went we would have had a good time. It was just disappointing because my husband and i have been there several times for brunch and lunch and were always pleased. Maybe it was just an off night, but nonetheless disappointing.
Disappointed compared to last years Christmas Eve meal. Didn’t care for the menu. Three out of five of us had the Indian chicken francais. One wouldn’t eat much of it, and the other two complained it had very little spice in it. The rice was dry also. And $3.75 for a glass of ice tea was kind of high. Best part of the meal were the 2 appetizers we ordered. The dessert menu was lacking also . All the desserts were very heavy. Nothing for someone wanting a light dessert. You were out of sorbet, disappointing for a lactose intolerant child. Probably won’t be back.
Wow! Dinner was excellent and our server was attentive and responsive. Charcuterie board was well thought out as our app. Smashed potato serving was huge and tasty. The Brussels were presented well with a creamy texture.
Dessert serving was a take home size with the peanut butter fudge cake as a slab size for four!
This is a return visit and will return
The food is always great and tonight’s dinner was no exception. The burrata appetizer was fantastic. We had the snapper, stuffed acorn squash, and the Indian chicken and all of it was wonderful. The drinks are well crafted. The service was exceptional - ask for Chris - he is very attentive and personable and makes the whole dining experience enjoyable.
I don’t think they anticipated a Thursday night being so busy, they only had one bartender so we had to wait for our drinks at our brake. Food was good, our mac and cheese came out fast, but we waited for our main course. Our waiter was attentive and kept apologizing for the delays.
Our first trip to Alchemy Elements was to celebrate family birthdays. No one in our group of 4 was disappointed. Service was exceptional. We were well tended to, and we never felt rushed. Each of us in our party raved about our choice of drink and main dish as we shared a taste with one another. It's a new local favorite for us.
We don't live anywhere near this restaurant as it is in MD and we are in PA but if we are even close to it we make it a point to go. We love everything about it. The atmosphere, the dishes and glassware and the most delicious and interesting food around. We just wished we lived closer as this would be on our calendar for at least once a week!
Great job in everything that you do.
We got our usual cream of crab and French onion soup and they were as delicious as ever! The new take on the steak was a bit iffy to us. We each got it. They were done perfectly and the mushroom sauce was absolutely delicious! I just wasn't sure about the scalloped potato duo. It was a mix of white and sweet potatoes. It was overpowered by a spice we didn't care fit and the mushroom gravy was on top of the potatoes too. We didn't care for it. The delightful bread an oil to start and the additional mixed vegetables were appreciated as always.
The only thing good was the steak. Which I have to say was perfect. However, the potato and sweet potato gratin had no flavor as it needed some salt at least. The Maryland crab soup was nothing special as the crab meat was minimal and fair quality. I went around 545 which was not at all busy and was first told I could not have a booth bc it was going to get crowded. I think the guy who seated me could tell I was a little upset bc he did move me. The famous carrot cake was dry and rather bland and I had to wait at least 25 minutes for it to arrive. Slow service, medicore food. This was my 3rd visit and I'm probably not going back as the first two visits weren't this bad, but not great. Very disappointed bc I really wanted to love this place.
Alchemy is consistantly between very good and outstanding. The scone flight was wonderful and warm. Bottomless mimosas are always welcome. The toast on my sandwich was cold but my daughter's Benedict was perfect. The host and waiter were very accommodating. Chris is my favorite!!!
This was my third visit to Alchemy and will be my last. I knew the service was slow, and that is fine to a degree. We arrived at 6:15 for a 6:30 reservation. The water was finally brought to the table at 6:40. a small piece of bread was delivered with an apology for the wait (should have been delivered with the water.I ordered a glass of wine. that arrived at about 7. We ordered crab dip to share and it arrived with my soup. I kept the soup until my companion's salad arrived at about 7:15. Entrees arrived at 7:20. and we had to move the other food to accommodate the entrees. I specified several times that I wanted Santa Cristina Pinot Grigio. when the bill came I was charged for another wine at $2 more. A complaint brought only an apology that theta was what the waiter had put into the computer, no adjustment to the bill--- my mistake your money.
After such a disaster of an evening, it would have been appropriate to take one of the glasses of wine off the check as an apology for the poor service. I simply reduced an already minimal (15%) tip by $4 (the difference between what I should have paid and what was charged. There were several apologies in the evening because the kitchen was not running well. however other diners were eating as we waited. We left after 8 PM.
Had a dinner for 2 this past Tuesday. When we arrived, even though the restaurant was not very busy, we were not immediately greeted. It took about 4 minutes beforethe host took us to our table. The waitress was friendly. We ordered 2 specialty martinis. Both were not super cold, even though i asked for the glass to be chilled. Our appetizers were good. We ordered the Crab Mac and Cheese which arrived only warm, not hot, but the Shrimp and grits was hot and very good. Upon ordering wine, my first 6 selections were not available. Not a very good sign and a bit frustrating. After finding a selection that they actually had, the waitress said that the manager had located my first selection, which was "The Prisoner". That said, our entrees were excellent. Both the Lamb chops as well as the Double Pork Chop was flavorful and hot. Overall, this restaurant has some issues. Further, the manager on staff should have recognized the situation and been more attentive. That said, not a horrible experience, just not polished. Management needs to update the wine list and have a full selection of wines and a bar that listens to guest request.
