Alba's Restaurante Ratings and Reviews
One of my all time favorite restaurants and have been going there for years. My adult kids all love going there for special get togethers given the quality of the food and the overall warm atmosphere. If I give them a choice on where to go -- they always pick Alba's! The wait staff are as attentive and friendly as you could ever hope for and they know you by first name.
Been many times, always a pleasure when we crave a really comfortable setting with excellent food and service. We always try some specials and new wines, wonderful place to bring friends and family. Can get a little too noisy at height of dinner hour but not where we can't hear each other. If you don't see something on the menu you would like, just ask if they can do it. We love ending the meal with espresso and biscotti.
Very nice restaurant. We were looking for something different than our usual " go to" places. Food was good, Service was good. Family who owns the restaurant are very nice. It was a mature crowd. Certainly would go back but will not be a substitute for our "go to" spots.
We picked this restaurant because of the positive reviews on Open Table and we were not disappointed. The service and the food were excellent. The only issue we experienced was that it was so noisy it was hard to hear the conversation at our own table. We will definitely be back.
I didn't love Alba the way many other reviewers have. First of all, the crowd skews fairly old--there did not appear to be any couples or groups under age 60, unless they were part of a multi-generational group. It felt very Greenwich country club set to us. The service was great and the atmosphere was nice, but we (in our very early 50s) felt out of place. This is not a place with a lively vibe. The food was mixed--my husband's fish special was very good but my veal saltimbocca was disappointing. Not sure I will go back.
Arrived for our reservation and hostess told my husband and brother that shorts were not allowed, but that they would seat us this one time. It was 85 degrees out and they were wearing polos and tailored shorts. Found this very off putting, especially as their site does not mention anything about a dress code and many other patrons were wearing shorts.
Asked for wine by the glass menu and was told by server to just ask for what I wanted. Having no clue about their selection and without any menu I asked for 2 pretty basic wines which they didn't have. Realizing this exercise was not going well the waiter finally started listing some options that he did have. FWIW Their list includes wines from outside Italy.
Delicious Northern Italian menu. This is the kind of food I grew up on so for me this is comfort food at its best. Standouts for us were:
Table side made caesar salad not only for the fact that most places don't do table side anymore, but it was a really good Ceasar
Whole roasted branzino (de-boned table side) which had a lovely lemon pernod sauce if you are so inclined
Veal chop recommended by the waiter
We'll definitely go back.
