Terrible service due to there just not being very many wait staff
The Brunch Was Amazing and I Would Definitely Come Back Again
Overall it seemed like the restaurant was short staffed and under supplied... the bar was out of multiple different beers, the restaurant was out of different pastas... we had a reservation for 7:15, but had to wait until 7:40 to be seated... the menu online was not the menu being served (missing tons of different options). The server seemed clueless, even after giving a heads up that we would like separate checks we received one check, plus one entree of our group was dramatically delayed... overall it was not a great experience.
The place was almost empty and the food was far from spectacular. Ordered the burrata and prosciutto and the prosciutto had no taste. Ordered the ravioli entree and the beef was grainy.
The place is beautiful, but with that food quality, not worth the visit.
We (as in six-three couples) reserved early in the evening while we were attend the AIPAC meeting at the convention center. We were pleasantly surprised to get the reservation so easily. Many other places were already booked. Upon entering we noted that we were alone. There were no other diners (7:45PM). However, the place was immaculate and had a pleasantly modern appearance. Our waiter was especially nice and very accommodating. The food was tasty and nicely presented. All in all our experience was very good. We did wonder, however, why,on a Sunday evening, things were so quiet.
Limited menu. They offer an all you can eat food and drink, which we didn’t do but could be a great value. The food was ok. Bloody Mary’s were very strong, we actually had to ask for more Bloody Mary mix. We liked the Bellinis better than the bloody Mary’s. The interior is very well decorated and the service was excellent Not sure I’d go back as the food wasn’t my favorite.
No host/hostess, so when I arrived it was difficult to get someone’s attention to get a table. The menu was not as extensive as what is listed as the full menu on Open Table. The food they had, though, was good.
Overall we were satisfied with our experience. We all did unlimited brunch which was definitely worth the value. We tried most items on the menu. Not many items stood out to us except the bacon-egg-cheese-spinach pizza. We also enjoyed the waffle with egg. I think that we’d definitely go back for brunch but maybe just get the pizza and the unlimited drinks.
Been here several times. Consistently good Great Happy hour with food and drink specials!
Very convenient location, excellent service. Food above average,
Nice place, delicious Pizza and a great happy hour. Nice surroundings and relatively quiet. I'll definitely go back!
The kitchen was swamped and very slow, our waiter was apologetic but for an all you can eat and drink meal we did not get the full value. Our waiter provided small fruit plates and bread to make up for it, and was very apologetic, but we left hungry.
There were two very rowdy tables that were shouting and chanting making it hard to hear someone across from you.
Good food, poor service.
The food and service was good but the RAP music from the bar was out of place and distracting.
The food was not very good. We had three courses starting with the meatballs which were only average. We went on to a pizza and the dough was too wet, the pizza undercooked, and the sausage and broccoli rabe on the pizza were below average in quality. We had a dish of papardelle with mushrooms which was the sole good dish of the entire experience, but even that didn’t shine. Lackluster food all around and there are many better Italian alternatives in DC. It’s a shame because the space is very suitable for everyday urban dining.
Rude staff, mediocre food, would not recommend this restaurant even to my worst enemy.
I've been coming off and on since they opened nearly four years ago. My recent experience was pretty poor - had to ask multiple times just to get bread. When it finally came it was clearly stale. The risotto special was pretty disappointing, the ingredients just didn't seem to be of a quality matching a $21"disk. We asked for fresh bread again, it never came. No apology. This place has a lot of potential given the location but somehow they just haven't gotten it right.
My friend and I are starting a monthly "find a new spot" to dine and this was given to us as a recommendation and it was well worth the drive into DC. The food was fantastic and good beer on tap! We were there early so I can't say what the noise level is once the place is filled but it was quiet with good music playing while we were dining. Everyone was very friendly and looked like they enjoyed being there serving customers!
I have been to Alba three times now and each time it has been amazing. The bottomless brunch is great- the food and drinks are awesome and the price is very reasonable (especially compared to other brunch places in DC). The service is even better though. The staff go out of their way to be accommodating. Also, they are so fast! The food comes out quick and you are never waiting on refills for drinks. I will continue to come back and recommend this place to others!
The food was delicious, although I was surprised that there was not a seasonal offering for the evening. We all found something that we liked, but I would have preferred a few more options.
The hostess and wait staff were more than accommodating and helpful. We had to move inside because of mosquitoes outside.
There were very few customers when we went on a Friday night. Not sure why.
Alba Osteria has a fantastic all you can eat/all you can drink brunch deal, which I've always been a fan of. The food isn't as stellar as their regular menu (which is understandable), but for the price and the menu variety, it's absolutely worth it. Excellent for a group brunch where you can share each plate, or a regular brunch where you really want to eat!
Other than ambiance, there was nothing to recommend. I spent a lot of money for a friend's birthday and it was quite disappointing. For the prices I paid, $14 per cocktail and $19-20 per entree, the drinks and food were mediocre. Get your Italian food elsewhere.
Fun all-you-can-eat and drink brunch. Good, standard brunch food, though would be nice to have more food options. Great mimosas and bellinis with excellent, attentive service. Would return.
Good food and tasty pizza! They also have Aperol Spritz! so a winner! We enjoy it a lot!
Carlos is amazing! Food and drink are to die for
Sat outside on a beautiful evening. Pizza and salad were very good.
Good food, slightly slow service, well decorated space. Menu was a tad limited and moderately priced- prices could be better. A plus is the real wood burning pizza oven. Pizza is the real star here. A nice, casual, neighborhood restaurant with ample seating indoor and outdoor, and a lively bar.
Very enjoyable experience. Good food, moderately priced, nice house Cabernet. Javier and his assistant did a great job!
While the food and overall experience were phenomenal, our waiter was absolutely terrible. He did not seem interested in being there at all, recommended that we don't order things that we wanted without us asking his opinion, and was annoyed with us asking questions.
I had my husbands surprise bday brunch at Albar Osteria and it was perfect!! Everyone from the host to the chef were so pleasant and helpful. It was a party of 30 and no one had to ask for a refill nor food to be served. The staff made us feel like it was our own private event. This spot is definitely on my fav brunch list. Cheers!!
The best pizza without a wait in the Chinatown area.
On a family trip to DC and this restaurant was suggested by our hotel. It was a very quiet night. We were the only family in the place. We asked for bread (long travel day) while we waited for our meal. We were brought out microwaved bread and stale bread sticks. I spoke with the waiter and the hostess. They took the old stale bread away and had the chef make us fresh bread (pizza bread). It was a much better option and tasted normal. The food overall was good and flavorful but still not sure why they served us stale bread. They knew it was stale because they had to microwave it.
Food is decent for the price. The Eggplant appetizer is worth it. The caprese not so much. The service was horrible. Very slow. Probably won't go back because of that.
Fabulous service and food!
The good was good. The menu was a little limited and they were out of what I initially wanted - veal. The service was slow.
I decided to try this place for brunch with my friends. I didn't want the buffet brunch but decided to go with simple eggs, sausage and home fries. I was disappointed, the sausage wished were over cooked and the home fries were french fries. I define home fries as pototes with peppers and onions. I have had dinner there and it was just ok. It's a nice place to meet friends for drinks
The food here is good, especially for the price. It's extremely affordable when compared to other DC restaurants of similar quality. My issues with the place are with the service. It's abysmal. Some of their wait staff seemed to not speak english and there were some serious communication issues. It's a good thing we were all bilingual at the table so we just spoke to them in spanish. They still managed to get one of the orders for our table wrong. One person had ordered the branzino and they brought out a fetuccine instead. They had to take it back and start a branzino from scratch while everyone else at the table already had their food. When they ultimately did bring it out, it was obvious that the dish had been cooked in a hurry. The fish was undercooked and the sauce was slightly cold. The whole plate was inedible. Finally, when it came time for dessert we indicated an interest to see the menu and it took almost a half hour for them to bring them out. Our waiter basically decided to abandon our table because two other larger groups showed up so I guess he figured he would get a bigger tip from them and focused on bringing their appetizers and food before our dessert. We ultimately decided to forego dessert altogether and get the check. It took the waiter another half hour to bring us that too. TL;DR: Good food at great prices but the service ruins the experience completely.
Went in for weekend brunch. The food and booze don't stop until you drop. It's incredible.
We made a reservation and when we arrived they said they didn't have a table for us and instead seated us at the bar. This was annoying, but we first agreed to sit at the bar (thinking an apology was coming and quick service throughout our meal to make up for not having a table for our reservation). Not only was there no apology but we got glasses of water and then no one came to take our drink or food orders for over 15 minutes, even after we brought it to their attention that we still hadn't gotten our order in. We ended up leaving after 15 minutes and went to a different restaurant nearby with much better service. We will not be returning.
Decent brunch. Terrible service.
