Alan Wong's was phenomenal. We're both vegetarians and requested a veg tasting menu that went beyond all expectations. The service was five star and simply perfection.
Fantastic experience and consistent year in and year out.
Wonderful food and service with a lovely mountain view. You definitely pay for it and decor could be refreshed for the price but otherwise for a special occasion is recommended.
Simply the most amazing dinner we have every had. Staff was phenomenal, food was exquisite and the entire experience was absolutely delightful. We were celebrating our 25th anniversary and the entire staff signed our personal menus.
Great food Impeccable service, always special to return to Alan Wong
This is one of the most memorable meals I have ever had. I am quite the foodie and I had a moment in thinking that this is one of the best meals I have ever experienced. The unique combinations of flavors, presentations and local seafood was amazing. They made something as basic as chili water and garlic aoili into the best condiments that we wanted to smoother over every bite. We also appreciated the suggestions that our server had and her mindfulness of my food allergies. That week we were visiting Oahu we went to 4 different fine dinning establishments and Alan Wong's was by far the best! I highly recommend this restaurant to everyone visiting and living in Oahu!
Nice food and oustanding service!
Our dinner at Alan Wong’s was incredible. My husband and I had the tasting menu and we enjoyed every course. He did substitute the tomato soup/grilled cheese first course for lobster bisque but that’s only because he has a strong aversion to tomatoes. That was his loss! It was amaaaazing!! The entire menu was approachable and delicious. Every detail from the food to the ambience was perfect. Our waiter, Michael, was also fantastic and we really appreciated all of his help. He was available but not “hovering” like you can get at some fine dining restaurants. We were celebrating a special occasion and the staff was kind enough to present us with a personalized and signed menu from the entire staff. This should be a MUST attend restaurant on your list when you visit Honolulu. We also ate at La Mer, Orchids, House Without A Key, Michels, and Hau Tree Lanai to give you an idea, and I would come to Alan Wong’s first every time we come back!
Freshest fish I have ever eaten.
We had the tasting menu. All of the items served were delicious. Service was outstanding.
Exceptionally great service and every item we tried on the tasting menu was delicious.
A little disappointed all around. The food was good but for the price i expected more. I didn’t enjoy my entree, which wasn’t their fault but considering the price i felt it should’ve been better. It tasted like it was drenched in miso dressing and fish was dry. Appetizers were good. Dessert was eh and service wasn’t anything special for the prices you pay.
Hawaiian food experience with a modern twist. We did loved the food, but found (not always) service and noise level far away from our expectations. It is casual restaurant, not really fine dining in the European meaning of it. We were served wines paired with food in a rush, I would appreciate longer dinner and wine pairing. Besides, food was great.
When we have something to celebrate, Ala Wong is always considered. The food is always prepared just right. Portions are just right.
The food was decent. Ambience basic and casual. The wait was not acceptable. We booked the table weeks ahead of our travels. Received notification just before our scheduled time that they were running ' a little late", and we arrived 8:40 instead of the reserved 8:30. We didn't get seated till close to 9:15 or even 9:20. Minimal apology, other than, "Sorry to keep you waiting". Maitre'd acted and looked rushed. No feel of fine dining, rather, a fast food restaurant.
The waiter showed no interest in us. Just went through the motions.
We were celebrating our honeymoon in Hawaii and the staff ensured it was a special meal. Everything from the drinks (their mai tai is phenomenal and you’ll never drink another one anywhere else), salads and main entrees was spectacular. Their crunch bar dessert was incredible and melted in our mouths. We will definitely recommend this place to anyone and will return when we’re back in Hawaii.
Ambiance and service was great. Service was good, but our waiter had to be reminded for a few items, not sure if it was a timing issue. Overall it was a great experience.
Alan Wong’s was the perfect place to celebrate our anniversary! The food was outstanding, the service was impeccable, and the overall experience was just perfect! Thank you for such a wonderful evening! :)
Fantastic! One of the best meals of our lives and we live in New York. They had very interesting preparations.
Amazing service and even better food! It was our anniversary and they made the night extra special!
Wow, service and food was amazing. We had the Menu Tasting Paired with wine. If it’s you first time at Alan Wong’s you absolutely should go with the tasting. Everything was amazing.
It was my grandson's 22nd birthday, and we loved celebrating it at Alan Wong's. Although he had been there when he was around 12, all he remembered was coming up in the elevator. This time around he savored every bite of his food and every sip of his drink (along with the rest of us). I've been there several times over the years, and I've always been very pleased with the food, the knowledgeable/attentive/kind/and humorous staff, and the ambiance. An additional and pleasant surprise was the commemorative signed menu and complementary dessert given to my grandson for his birthday. To experience a burst of deliciousness with every bite of food, you just can't beat the food at Alan Wong's Restaurant .
We enjoyed the five course tasting menu, but felt the first three courses were much better than the last two. Fortunately, the first three courses are so delicious that it’s wirth purchasing the entire tasting menu to try them.
For us, the dessert was especially disappointing and lacked the creativity of other dishes - a plethora of dense chocolate items with no attempt at incorporating other flavors or textures for balance.
The wine pairings were excellent, highly recommend.
Everything was so nice but the signature coconut dessert was AWESOME!!
We came in for Mother's Day Dinner
Service and food were both well executed
Very nice that there was no problem changing a couple of dishes for one of our party.
Nice to see the Restaurant more refined these days
We dine out a lot in LA, NY, Paris And Chicago, and without a doubt this is my favorite restaurant of all time. I literally dream of the tomato salad. Sadly I can’t go as often as I like, as we live in LA. But if we lived in Honolulu we would be FREQUENT diners. Amazing and innovative food with zero attitude. The service is as warm and inviting as the Waikiki waters. We love it so much that we wouldn’t think of coming to the islands without going to Waikiki, primarily because of Alan Wong’s. Tip: try and pace yourself (unlike us) so you can actually have some of the amazing desserts.
Best restaurant to dine in Honolulu! With all of the new restaurants opening that are fun to try - make sure not to overlook going back to a favorite 5 star dining experience!
Over priced and located in a inadequate neighborhood compared to the level of food the restaurant want to be. Not really bad, but for the price there are alternatives in Waikiki.
The service was excellent, the staff worked really well as a team.
The food was really good, it was a very enjoyable experience.
We came for father’s birthday and event and foods were awesome.
Good service but everything else was disappointing. Tired decor, mediocre food for the price. By 7:45 they were out of the two best appetizers. Living off of their reputation. Open table rating of 4.6 was not reflected in our experience. Finally, the bathroom was on a light sensor that left my wife in the dark.
Excellent dinner. Creative dishes. Gracious, helpful service.
Really liked the restaurant and our waiter was great. The fish entrees were outstanding but the salads were mediocre at best. We had a dinner reservation at 730 pm and 3 of our first choices were sold out. Seems like better planning is needed.
Excellent service, food is not the best
Excellent food, ambience and service - Thanks for a wonderful time!
Incredible food and experience!!
Very enjoyable, service was impeccable and food was first class. The desserts were remarkable.
Everything beyond words fantastic. A minor niggle, wine server seemed slightly less inclined to answer questions about win
