Amazing food and place; and fantastic service. Would visit again.
Love the owner. He is just full of energy and so friendly, even after 22 years of being open up. The cuisine is so delicious and the French sauces with the entrees are amazing. Great price too. Will keep coming back.
Very comfortable very local. Food very good and suggestions were welcomed for improvement. Fun and enjoyable experience
I somehow managed to live in San Francisco for 3 years before discovering this wonderful restaurant. The food is outstanding and I wanted to sit in the lovely space for hours sipping a great wine. This is my new favorite place.
Terrific food, nice atmosphere and super friendly service. What more could you want? Really enjoyed our selection of shared dishes: escargot, mussels (tiny & tender), tuna carpaccio, salad, shrimp risotto… all done really well. We will return here!
Food was quite good but the time it took to get it was a bit too much. Restaurant apparently understaffed.
Phenomenal wait staff compliment the taste bud delight. Daily specials highly recommended.
Really enjoyed our experience. We had the mussels, petrale sole and chocolate cake with good dry riesling wine. Good value and delicious.
One of my favorite places. Incredible food. Nice selection of wine.
Food was serviceable. Can’t imagine how this place gets 5 stars from anyone
Great good, great service.
The fish soup was excellent, I was hoping it was going to just be a bunch of seafood and not have any noodles or “filler” and it was exactly that. Densely packed soup, super good and filling. My fiancé had the shrimp risotto which was also excellent, perfectly blackened shrimp.
Crab cake and mussels were also very good. Good wine selection as well. Cost of food was very fair, and portion sizes were good.
Server allowed us to take time between aps and dinner, which I like. I prefer to enjoy my night out, rather than feel rushed.
Great ambiance. Would definitely return to try other things.
Wonderful unfancy French cuisine with a lot of variety. Good wine selection too.
Au top ! Amazing and wonderful service ... waiter so nice.
Love the moment.
Lovely dinner. Andre is hilarious and the food was delicious. Great value and many laughs enjoyed.
Lovely neighborhood French restaurant. All fish is freshly prepared. Good wine selection to match the flavors. Don’t skip on the dessert.
Ended up having to wait for our reservation for about 15/20 minutes. Perhaps a bit of the adjustment post covid rules -- but the waitress did offer a complimentary pour.
Food was decent. Some dishes had really amazing flavors and I found others were bland. The olive oil medley for the bread was amazing!
Excellent food experience at an affordable price. Charming ambience and was like eating in a cage in Paris.
I have to say this is a diamond in the rough. Really great value and excellent service.
Prix fixe menu for $17.95 was a deal. Mushroom soup was excellent, sole meniuere was great and the oeufs a la niege was one of the best I’ve had. Really fluffy. The $17.95 salmon was superb. I sampled my friends.
The octopus salad appetizer was a bit tough. Try cooking it with a wine cork and a lot of lemon slices with the peel on. That’s a tip I picked up in Venice Italy. The cork does something to soften the octopus
Overall, great. Most places do not make octopus soft anyway butt it was tasty, but chewy. I prefer it to almost melt in my mouth.
This was our first visit to Alamo Square, but we will definitely return.... early and often! The restaurant is definitely a neighborhood spot with many locals and regulars dining there on a Friday evening. It is somewhat small inside, but there is a good amount of seating, including the extra outdoor seating. The atmosphere was lively (a large table next to us was celebrating) but there were plenty of cozy, intimate tables for two. The food was excellently prepared and well-seasoned. I had the sole in a burre blanc sauce and it was possibly the best I've ever had. My friend had a shrimp risotto that was outstanding. The service was excellent and very attentive. The gentleman who was our primary server also warmly greeted us upon entering, and wished us well as we exited. I didn't catch his name, but he was likely the owner. My friend and I both agreed that this restaurant was a definite "secret gem" and would be in our regular rotation going forward.
Always the best experience. Best seafood in town and the prefixe is unbeatable!
Neighborhood gem with fabulous fresh food at a great price, and the owner - who you'll meet - has a great personality.
Absolutely Delicious! What a Gem! Superb escargot, fresh seafood entrees/choice of sauces, crab cakes...warm french bread with olive oil/pesto dip complimentary to start. White wine a generous glass. Irene served us with charm and professionalism. Unique cozy atmosphere, albeit w/ door needing to be safely open at this time, used small airline blanket I brought with me.
Maybe the most under-rated place I’ve eaten at in SF. Food and service is fantastic and value is second to none. Fish is great priced and delicious.
I love this spot! Nothing too fancy: just great food, service, and cozy. The ribeye with fries is phenomenal. The bearnaise sauce is worthy of Julia Child. I am not kidding that sauce is so good - I asked for 2 refills! The escargots are just what they should be: buttery, parsley-soaked, and yummy!
This place is true gem, just a few blocks from Hayes hectic restaurants area, Alamo Square serves excellent food at a very reasonable prices. It feels like a small Parisian bistro somewhere in the very residential area far from tourists routes. We loved the place and will be back!
We were seated immediately, service was fantastic, food was delicious and a good value. We were a party of 6 (3 generations) and everyone was happy! Highly recommend!
Maitre d was hard working, pleasant, and inviting. Seafood soup was next level. The atmosphere was utopian. A singular experience and honor to dine at this fine establishment.
Fantastic staff, food and value. This is my favorite neighborhood hidden gem with a charming friendly staff and quality bistro cuisine.
A gem of a restaurant. Good food, good vibe, good service. We will be back.
Amazing food, great service, and prices that are exceptionally reasonable for SF. Very neighborhood like environment with friendly locals. Will definitely return again and again. Thank you for the amazing experience
Awesome food and service..., only four stars as it was a bit chilly
The blackened salmon plate was a nice portion and flavorful. They unfortunately ran out of mussels for our seafood pasta but it was made up with additional shrimps.
Such a gem of a place will super cool staff and awesome atmosphere. That being said please don't come here bc it's my special place and I want to keep it to myself.
Ate outside during pandemic and it was wonderful.
Hadn’t been to the restaurant in years and was looking for someplace different for dinner. Remembered I enjoyed it in the past so decided to give it a try. Totally enjoyed it! Will be back soon!
This was the first restaurant we’d been to in a year(!). It was highly recommended by our daughters, and they were not wrong. Of course, the four of us had to sit at a table on the sidewalk, and it was a bit of a challenge keeping things from sliding off. But the waitstaff was very friendly and attentive. And the food was outstanding. It’s French, with a little California influence, and beautifully done. I’m allergic to seafood, but there were several options for me anyway, including that day’s special of beef bourguignon which was very good. My daughters have celiac disease, but the server knew what that is, and all but a couple of menu items (like the crab cakes, which my husband said were among the best he’s ever had) are gluten free. There was even more than one choice of gluten free dessert. If the combinations of fish, preparation, and sauce are daunting, you can count on them to tell you the best ones for you, but not in a snobby way. The wine list is good, including a nice selection of dessert wines. All in all, this was a lovely little place, and we’re already thinking about taking visitors there.
The host did it all, greeted, seated, took our order, checked in on us all with ease and gracefulness. Felt very welcomed. Good was amazing! Look forward to coming back here again!
I Loved this place.. the food was excellent. I had the blackened shrimp over risotto and it had so much flavor. The owner is so wonderful and staff is attentive. I’d definitely recommend and come back to this place😍
Steak frites and crab cakes were delicious. Great service.
