   This place is amazing! The service is excellent and the food is delicious. Loved the poached pear and spinach salad. The wine selection is great too. It is close enough to SF Jazz and the other venues but not as crowded or noisy. a great neighborhood gem.

   I've provided a review previously so I won't say the same thing again. I'll just say that we like unpretentious, out-of-the-way places, and this is the ideal dinner-before-the-symphony spot for us. It's a twenty-minute walk up Grove Street from Davies Hall. The food is excellent. We'll just keep going back.

    We were greeted graciously, enjoyed a wonderful scallop and risotto entree, decent fried calamari and crab cakes and a delicious, unexpected Dry Riesling at the suggestion of our server. The background vaguely french music gave a nice vibe to the evening without being intrusive. I'd never been before but will surely venture to this quiet, residential street again for anything on the blackboard specials list!

    Went for their NYE prix fixe menu. Given the information on their Open Table page, we expected to park is a reserved lot one block away. Apparently this is false because the owner/manager told us we had to find street parking. Service was a bit of an odd “here’s your menu, what courses do you want”—no real welcome to be had. Wine came out in a glass with lipstick on it. Not a big deal, but not a great first impression. Asked for a clean one and was immediately obliged. Food wise: lobster bisque was bland; shrimp ceviche was tasty; I was not asked my temperature preference for my filet and received it slightly warmer than raw. Luckily it was a good piece of meat; highlight of the meal was dessert—tiramisu and flourless chocolate cake. Setting was cozy and not too noisy. Nice ambiance with dim lighting, but bright tabletop candles. Overall, a pleasant but unremarkable experience. Probably wouldn’t be back before venturing to yet-undiscovered spots in the Bay.

    One of the best values in SF. On New Years eve had appetizer, steak and dessert for $50. Food was delicious (they also have great seafood) and the vibe was friendly.

    We held our annual holiday company party at Alamo Square Seafood Grill and will definitely be back with my husband. Food was delicious and the restaurant lighting was nice and dim and relaxing.

    The waiter was a bit snide. The other was too quiet. The salmon was very good but the mussels, pommes frites, escargot and bread were sub-par. Our standards are based on whether a dish matches or exceeds what we as accomplished home cooks could prepare.

    I always enjoy Alamo Square. It’s my go to restaurant when I come to the city. We found it by accident several years ago, and it has become a favorite. I love how it feels like a small town neighborhood bistro in the middle of the city. Definitely a hidden gem. The food is fantastic.

    Alamo Square Seafood Grill is a delightful little neighborhood gem. We had a reservation for dinner before a Saturday night Symphony concert. So, we parked near Davies Hall and walked up Grove Street to the restaurant. When we arrived at 5:30 there was no one there. However, people began arriving shortly thereafter for a birthday party. Their table seated 15 partiers. Soon there were other couples and another small group. All very pleasant. My wife ordered salmon and I ordered Snapper--both on the fish-of-the-day menu. Along with veggies and rice, all nicely seasoned, the plates were excellent. We ordered one desert between the two of us--cream puffs with ice cream and pomegranate seeds, drizzled with chocolate. The price was surprisingly reasonable--about $50, not including tip. The walk back down Grove Street to the concert was also a delight, through a neighborhood that includes quite a number of beautiful Victorians. We will be back.

    Good food and plentiful. Quiet. Grilled snapper cooked to perfection. Good reasonably priced wine. Reading other reviews, it seems that diners who are used to being fawned over by an ingratiating server are put off by the French owner's rather perfunctory style. Be assured, he's not being rude. C'est comme ca qu'on fait en France.

    I ordered petrale sole. Server asked: how do you want it cooked? Sautéed or grilled. I asked for sautéed and it looked like it was dead. The sauce that I ordered came in a small tiny cup so that I could spread it on my fish. I thought that the fish was cooked in the sauce. Then we ordered 2 bottles of Grenache Blanc to take with us. They charged us $57/each. Got home and it’s not what we ordered. We got Chenin Blanc instead that lists for $42 on their website. We’re we taken advantage of? YES. We thought that we were in a hurry to catch our Uber so there was much confusion at the end.

    Had never been here before but took a chance and brought 8 of my friends out to celebrate my partner's birthday. The staff was kind and accommodating and handled our large party well. The food here is really incredible!

    Outstanding food, friendly staff. A bit worried that this gem may have been 'discovered' because it was more crowded and louder than on previous visits. Good for the owner, who is a charming presence and who deserves to do well. The full tables of happy diners made it a bit hard to have a conversation and we waited longer for entrees than on previous visits. But every dish was perfect. Close to symphony, opera. SF Jazz, so good for pre-concert dining.

    I want to give this better stars. But the food all felt and tasted microwaved. The place smelled strongly of fish, but seemed relatively clean. It does seem like it needs a deep clean though. Was really excited to come here because I read the food was good even if the ambiance wasn't updated, But I left feeling disappointed

    The food is consistently wonderful at Alamo Square Seafood. I have been dining there for 20 years. The prix fixe deal is the best in town.
