Al Zaytouna Ratings and Reviews
Food was good, but the service was really terrible. The waitress was not knowledgeable on the food and did not check on us the whole time to fill water or ask if we needed anything. Then at the end she told us the tip was already on the bill (I guess because we were a party of 8) And it wasn't a standard 18%, but 20%. I will not be dining in again.
My friends and I love trying new restaurants. We looked up a few places and landed here. The food was fresh and amazing, the service was great, and it wasn't expensive. Our server was very friendly and very knowledgeable about the menu (I'm not too familiar with mediterranean dishes) which was a great help. The creme inside the cannoli (instead of the icing on top of the cake) was the owner of the restaurant was there. When we left he asked about our experience but seemed to genuinely care and seemed to be a great guy. I believe this place is also a BYOB.
Oh, I'm not normally a bug hummus guy, but the hummus here is excellent.
When we arrived we were greeted by a friendly server and led to a table that was set up for us because of our reservation. The food was excellently prepared and the pita bread basket was kept filled during our dinner. Attention was also paid to the water glasses which never got below half full. Ambience was much nicer than expected based on reviews. Would not hesitate to go there again when in Philly.
This was best Mediterranean food I have ever had. Our appetizers were perfectly done and dinner was timed nicely after them. The kabobs were extremely tasty and perfectly cooked. Chicken shwarma was well seasoned and moistened by the adding of greens. Server was not terribly attentive but very pleasant and willing to accommodate us. We will be back again.
Delicious, authentic, well prepared middle eastern food. We had the falafel appetizer which was perfectly seasoned, crisp on the outside, moist on the inside and not greasy at all. My bf had the lamb kebabs over couscous and I had the mixed kebabs (lamb and chicken) which we both enjoyed. We were too full for desert and had leftovers which we brought home. We dined early (5PM) on a Saturday and were the only patrons so it was very quiet. I imagine (hope) they are busier later. Both waitresses were attentive (hey, we were the only patrons) and pleasant.
I absolutely adored this restaurant. I went with a group of 15 friends for a "ladies night." The food was completely excellent and the owner was delightful. We were waited on attentively, and the entire group had a blast. The owner even gave my friend a free baklava when she was proud of finishing an entire Branzino. He also offered to take several pictures of our group. I know that the restaurant does a great takeout business, but I would highly recommend dining in.
Being unfamiliar with this restaurant, we were happily surprised. The food was quite good. It was a cold Saturday night and no one else was in the place from 8 pm on when we were there. I guess they do a big takeout business. But the food was worth coming there for, the place was simple but inviting, and we enjoyed it very much.
