The burrata flat bread was delicious! The main dishes (lasagna and chicken cordon bleu) were both just OK.
Extremely disappointed. I made a reservation and it was accepted for 10 pm, but upon arriving to the restaurant discovered that it was closed. Please make sure not to accept reservations for a restaurant at times when it is not open.
I would have given them 5 stars but upon arriving to the restaurant and looking at the menu it occurred to me that it was a completely different menu than the one on here. I asked if they had recently changed their menu and they had...two days before. It was also significantly more expensive than the menu here so I recommend going to their website (if they have one)for options.
All of that said, the service was excellent. I accidentally ordered something that I thought was a salad but turned out to be a pizza with arugula and tomato with cheese. I guess I should have asked what burata was!! Everyone enjoyed it and they ended up not charging us for it, even though it was my error. Everything we had was delicious and the portions were above average. They had a yummy Merlot and I usually don't drink,..and if I do, I don't usually like Merlot. We did not stay for dessert because we were so full.
The ambience was nice and that staff was very attentive.
I had certain dietary needs and so I was a little stressed about a totally different menu but the server reassured me that they could pretty much make anything I wanted as long as they had the food there. I ended up getting the special skirt steak, served with potatoes and couscous. I didn't eat the couscous because 1. it was cold (on purpose) and 2. the potatoes were enough of a carb. Dad said it was the best piece of flounder ever.
We all left full and happy. Would definitely recommend for family, a date, gathering of friends, etc. It's on the slightly above average price range for a NYC restaurant but then again, what do you expect in NYC?
Al Vicoletto is the kind of Italian restaurant you can find all over New York: pretty good, not too expensive and with decent service. Nothing about it is truly exceptional, but nothing about it is disappointing, either. Nice, comfy space below sidewalk level. Worth having on your neighborhood go-to list but not worth traveling to.
This place had a lot of potential to be a regular for me considering that I live around the corner and eat Italian at least 4 times per week, but unfortunately the food was under-seasoned and bland, and there was a table of drunk teenagers who were so loud that I couldn't hear the person sitting right in front of me. At one point, one of the drunk kids stood on the table while everybody just watched in disbelief. Had the food been good, I'd understand that it's a rare situation and I'd probably go back to try it again, but unfortunately the food was sub-par. I can go on and on about why I didn't like this place, but ultimately it came down to mediocre food, and inappropriately loud behavior.
the food and service were great, at 1215 it was very quiet but by 1245 it was hoping...very nice meal.
Definitely would recommend. Great date spot and good wine list
Genuinely good Italian/Sicilian fare from top to bottom of the menu. Nice wines. Great service. Take the server's advice when selecting!
So delicious! Such great service and great atmosphere for a date or just an enjoyable dinner out.thank you!
Food was ok, esp. the chocolate mousse. Wine list okay. Entrees nothing special. Caesar salad was tasteless-- nothing remotely like a Caesar salad (doesn't anyone use anchovies anymore?). As for ambience, we came in after the theater to find s bored and tired looking maitre d' and a loud sixties soundtrack-- not very welcoming. Most of those who rate this restaurant highly refer to lunch, so maybe the place is better and more fun then
Not a bad place, but nothing special. Would be fine for a drink after work, or dinner after a movie, basically useful Italian restaurant, but nothing special. Quiet enough for conversation.
Waiter was having some issues, spilled wine, a bit confused.
My absolute favorite Italian place in the neighborhood! Thank you ♥
We really enjoyed the food and the service at Al Vicoletto. First, they called to confirm our reservation earlier in the day and were friendly and welcoming. We were seated promptly and all our food selections were very good. The buffaloto cheese was amazing. Salmon and pasta dishes were all excellent. Service was attentive and helpful even though the restaurant was really busy. For Manhattan, the prices were quite reasonable for genuine Italian dishes. We did not feel rushed in any way. Would definitely go back when I'm in the neighborhood again. A very nice find.
We live nearby, but this was our first time eating here and it was a great success. It was very busy (it's a popular place), but the staff did a great job of overcoming this challenge and ulltimately made our evening a great success. We shared the Beet Salad, then had the grilled Branzino and Veal Sorrentina, with a Sorbetto dessert - all were delicious and the portions were rather generous. The wine list is great, with very reasonably priced options (Pinot Grigio $36). Total cost of $110 before tip as excellent value for such a fun venue and good quality food. We'll be back.
Very nice lunch, would def come back
Very good and authentic Italian. Wine list short but good. Prices are really good for the quality.
Ambience felt more like a cafe. Service was ok, for was ok. Not worth the cost
Fantastic service, menu and specials food options, and convenient location. Prices were very fair and able to have wine, starters and entrees. Starred to return!
Every one enjoyed their meal and took advantage of the happy wine prices. The octopus appetizer was excellent. The fish was very good and the veal was good.
The food and the service were excellent. I had the special of veal Milanese and it was cooked to perfection on the bone. My friends had the branzino and pasta primavera which they enjoyed very much. The waiters were attentive and brought out the food hot . I highly recommend the restaurant. It is very near Union Square and truly a gem.
Interesting menu & specials.Attentive service.Manager makes you feel like a guest in her 🏡.
Great date spot and the bites were really yummy. Not overpriced. Perfect.
Met a friend for lunch. Food was good. Service was a little slow...but my friend was very late to arrive so that may have offset the serving plan/pacing of meal.
going away lunch for work collegue
Great food and wonderful staff. Excellent bar and good wine selection. This was a last minute choice and I wasn't impressed by the outside but ended up loving the place. Great lasagna and salads.
Free dessert because I indicated that we were celebrating something!
A neighborhood gem! I probably meet friends here once a week. Love the ambiance, service and food! Great value and everything is always fresh and delicious.
The food is consistently delicious with friendly service. Outdoor patio can be used for private party dining.
I had ordered the steak which was delicious but small portion for $18
it came with french fries & tiny arugula salad which was too salty.
My Friend ordered the pasta with sausage & said it was very good.
Returned for another visit after a year away, and had a very pleasant evening overall. The service was very friendly, and our meals were well prepared. We enjoyed the complimentary sweet bread and the conversations about its origin. Definitely a goto spot in the neighborhood for us.
Solid food. Relaxing vibe. Excellent service, including a gratis sweet dessert cake. Reasonably priced.
I really enjoyed sitting in the patio for dinner. I have been here once before for lunch. The food was delicious and our waitress was wonderful. Nice long happy hour from 4- 7!
I have been at this restaurant 4 times previously. On all occasions the food was good and a good value for the $$. The service was also good.
It has been several months since I was at the restaurant the last time. The difference was amazing. The wait staff were terrible. We were never asked is we wanted to start with a cocktail or have any drinks. When we specifically requested to have drinks we were given a card with 5 specialty drinks and we were told those were "the only drinks available". One of our party said that had to be impossible since there is a fully stocked attractive bar when you first walk in. We saw the female owner who we had met before and asked her to come over. The owner then took our bar order personally. The waitress could answer no questions about the menu and had to leave 4times to get information. The owner later explained that the waitress was new and that was it !!! The food was NOT of the calaber that had been consistent on prior visits. The dessert was so bad that we all had only one bite. The table adjacent to us had 3 very loud very inebriated young women who were subsequently joined by a slightly older man. The volume of their conversation kept escalating until finally I asked if they could just take the volume down a bit since I couldn't scream loud enough at my table to have my tablemates hear me. This led to a vicious screaming match between the two tables to the point that I went out front ready to call 911 since it appeared that one party at my table and two of the women at the other table were actually going to get into a physical fight. NO STAFF member at the restaurant did anything to intervene or calm this situation. This was the worst dining experience I have had in any recent memory. I will never set foot in this restaurant again.....
The nicest place - good menu, good food - sweet little backyard!

Transformation from a luncheon deli to nicely appointed dinner venue. The portions were large and shareable, yet nicely priced. Gnoochi were so light and served with truffle cream--out of the usual. Chicken Milanese was well prepared in traditional crispy golden brown crust. The grilled octopus, a generous portion, was prepared with white beans, farro and watercress--very healthy. The wine offerings were many and reasonably priced. Strongly recommend this restaurant overall.
Terrible service, good was mediocre and overall disappointing. I wouldn't go again.
well prepared food at reasonable prices for the area
Rediculously small portions. Ordered the lasagna bolanaise which was so dry with a no sauce bechamel chop meat interior that was premade and probably frozen. Sicilians around the globe would cringe at what was being passed as Italian food. When stated that the food had no sauce, they presented a bowel of stewed pizza sauce attempting to pass as marinara with no bolanaise sauce to be seen. Cramped interior, loud and trendy atmosphere filled will clueless millenials. Girlfriend had the lamb which was so small most would consider it an appetizer for one rather than a $20+ main course. Never coming back. Bad experience.
Excellent staff. Well presented menus and specials. Attentive and courteous. Ambiance is modern, light and white in the lower level of a brownstone. Bright and cheerful w/o being overly glaring. No view to speak aside from tasteful decor and good food. Noise level was perfect for me. I am a very noise sensitive diner and my table of three was not burdened with innapproproate music or screamer conversations. A nice relaxed classy crowd. Each table is close by but it still felt private. I myself would not bring more than 4 people here. Shared Burrata and argula. I have never been a burrata fan but my friends liked it a lot. I got a specialbof buccatini w/ lamb ragout which was excellent and fresh. Friends had an entree beet salad she liked and it was huge. Friend #2 had a special of branzino in lemon clam sauce (whole shell) she said was excellent. Good wine specials. Will def go back
Great find. Lovely atmosphere and the food and wine was delicious. On a girls weekend with my step daughter and this was feet from our hotel so we dropped in and we were not disappointed.
