The food and service and ambience were fine (although the white fish at $35 was rather bland and tasteless) until the bill came. I noticed that I was overcharged, just by a dollar, for a grappa, but mentioned this to the waiter. He came and replied in a way that I didn't quite understand but didn't change the bill. (Okay, I'm a hardass to notice a tiny overcharge, but I'm also a guy who tells waiters when I've undercharged, which does happen from time to time). So to check my memory, I asked to see the menu and confirmed that I had indeed been overcharged. At which point the owner came an slammed down a dollar on the table with the attitude of "okay, take your lousy dollar, your cheapskate". So I in turn was greatly put off by this attitude and won't return and will recommend others to avoid a place where the is such an off-putting attitude.
Best Italian restaurant on DC. Not even close
Tiramisu quite on point!
Pasta with lobster sauce is phenominal, as is the risotto with lobster. Al Tiramisu is an underappreciated gem.
Great service, a neighborhood gem and thank you for telling us about Father’s Day in Italy!
Our special anniversary place.
I’ve been going to Al Tiramisu for over a decade now, it’s my favorite restaurant- I’ve never had something for didn’t like here. The service is impeccable and the attention to detail in preparation and presentation are unparalleled. This restaurant is higher in price than many others, but well worth it!
Very disappointed as there was no vegetarian options at all which was very odd
And extremely noisy
Was only in DC for one night, so glad our dinner was superb. This place was amazing!
Everything about our experience at Al Tiramisu was fabulous. The food, the people and the ambience was perfect. Chef Luigi was a delight! We will be back!
Black truffles were delectable! Spaghetti with clams tasted like they had just been plucked from the sea. A wonderful resaturant if you are looking for a memorable meal.
Phenomenal Italian restaurant. The food is made with talent, excellence, and love. The staff are genuine and will do anything to make sure your time with them is amazing. Its a must to go!
The BEST Italian restaurant I’ve ate at in the DMV.
Our dining experience was AMAZING!!! From apps to dessert it was top level!!!
Amazing everything. Food, service, ambience, location...it was a great Valentines Day dinner.
Luigi's food is wonderful. The restaurant is welcoming and extremely enjoyable. Patrons feel appreciated and special.
Wonderful food, everything was excellent. Highly recommend this gem in the heart of DC!
Great Italian food, cozy atmosphere, the service is excellent (no one rushes you out the door)
Wanted a truly special dinner before DC restaurants close for indoor dining next week. My wife and I really enjoyed the meal. We both had the lobster linguine. We were very impressed that the lobster was cooked to perfection.
The food was incredible and Luigi is a wonderful host!
I absolutely love this place, literally one of the biggest hidden gems in DC! The staff are amazing, the food is delectable just everything. I can’t stress enough on how amazing this restaurant is.
Always an amazing experience - love coming back!!!
Great food, great service....personal attention from the chef and everyone else. Love this place!
We are usually quite pleased, but this was a lackluster experience.
We will be back and try again at some point
Al Tiramisu is our favorite special-occasion restaurant, because the food is delicious and the service excellent. On Friday, we brought another couple to the restaurant for the first time. One person ordered a whole fish, the other two ordered pasta dishes, and I ordered the grilled octopus. Everyone was happy except me. My octopus was chewy, chewy, chewy--to the point where I had to swallow a few bites whole to avoid fishing them out of my mouth. I know that cooking octopus isn't a snap--I've never even attempted the feat--but the texture of this dish just wasn't right. Everything else about the evening was just perfect, though, and Al Tiramisu will remain our favorite restaurant. I just won't order the octopus!
Al Tiramisu is one of our favorite restaurants in DC - Another great dining experience for my wife’s birthday. Outstanding service and food.
True Italian dishes, perfectly executed, fresh and just varied enough that you can always find one to match your mood.
The setting was perfect and our waiter was fantastic. Food and drinks were great. We had a wonderful time.
Impromptu Sunday night dinner. Fresh and delicious ingredients. Sunday meatballs are unbeatable. Prompt and friendly service. Always have fresh seafood entrees too! Hands down favorite place for a nice meal.
Amazing food. Fettuccine was delicious, as was the tiramisu. Duck and ossobucco were also excellent. Service was very prompt.
We were in early before the opera. It was our first visit. The risotto with truffles nearly had me in tears. The wine was excellent, fish splendid, service impeccable. We want to go back when we have more time to linger.
Bus waiters were extremely rude and pushy. Kept pressuring us to finish our plates. They were very loud and uncareful when taking plates from the table.
I believe the amount of side dishes provided is too low. It’s not the first time that I point on this issue
The restaurant was quaint. The service and food exquisite. Really enjoyed our experience there. Was in town visiting and would highly recommend.
Great place. Good food. Parking was hard to find.
As always, wonderful. I get a kick out of some of the reviews that have compained about rude service. This is astonishing. I have eaten here more than 1000 times in the past 12 years, and i have never witnessed anything but grace and ease within the wait staff. Of course, the food is consistently outstanding.
Great fancy experience which trumps the above average food.
Our 1st time dining experience at Al Tiramisu was exquisite. It exceeded our expectations. I can't recall the young man waiter we had but he was fabulous, knew all about the menu items, was personable and witty too. We ordered variations of the Risotto specials as entrees and they were phenomenal. Hand shaved truffles on our entrées! Chocolate martini's wonderful. Appetizers to dessert all delicious. I already recommended this restaurant to many of my Northern, VA friends. Can't wait to go back! Thank you for a memorable dining experience.
Outstanding, classic Italian food with excellent service and fun staff. Only minor issue is that I wish they had more mid-range wine choices - the prices jump to multiple hundreds quickly. But still a favorite overall. Thank you.
