Al Tiramisu is our favorite special-occasion restaurant, because the food is delicious and the service excellent. On Friday, we brought another couple to the restaurant for the first time. One person ordered a whole fish, the other two ordered pasta dishes, and I ordered the grilled octopus. Everyone was happy except me. My octopus was chewy, chewy, chewy--to the point where I had to swallow a few bites whole to avoid fishing them out of my mouth. I know that cooking octopus isn't a snap--I've never even attempted the feat--but the texture of this dish just wasn't right. Everything else about the evening was just perfect, though, and Al Tiramisu will remain our favorite restaurant. I just won't order the octopus!
Al Tiramisu is one of our favorite restaurants in DC - Another great dining experience for my wife’s birthday. Outstanding service and food.
True Italian dishes, perfectly executed, fresh and just varied enough that you can always find one to match your mood.
The setting was perfect and our waiter was fantastic. Food and drinks were great. We had a wonderful time.
Impromptu Sunday night dinner. Fresh and delicious ingredients. Sunday meatballs are unbeatable. Prompt and friendly service. Always have fresh seafood entrees too! Hands down favorite place for a nice meal.
Amazing food. Fettuccine was delicious, as was the tiramisu. Duck and ossobucco were also excellent. Service was very prompt.
We were in early before the opera. It was our first visit. The risotto with truffles nearly had me in tears. The wine was excellent, fish splendid, service impeccable. We want to go back when we have more time to linger.
Bus waiters were extremely rude and pushy. Kept pressuring us to finish our plates. They were very loud and uncareful when taking plates from the table.
I believe the amount of side dishes provided is too low. It’s not the first time that I point on this issue
The restaurant was quaint. The service and food exquisite. Really enjoyed our experience there. Was in town visiting and would highly recommend.
Great place. Good food. Parking was hard to find.
As always, wonderful. I get a kick out of some of the reviews that have compained about rude service. This is astonishing. I have eaten here more than 1000 times in the past 12 years, and i have never witnessed anything but grace and ease within the wait staff. Of course, the food is consistently outstanding.
Great fancy experience which trumps the above average food.
Our 1st time dining experience at Al Tiramisu was exquisite. It exceeded our expectations. I can't recall the young man waiter we had but he was fabulous, knew all about the menu items, was personable and witty too. We ordered variations of the Risotto specials as entrees and they were phenomenal. Hand shaved truffles on our entrées! Chocolate martini's wonderful. Appetizers to dessert all delicious. I already recommended this restaurant to many of my Northern, VA friends. Can't wait to go back! Thank you for a memorable dining experience.
Outstanding, classic Italian food with excellent service and fun staff. Only minor issue is that I wish they had more mid-range wine choices - the prices jump to multiple hundreds quickly. But still a favorite overall. Thank you.
The food is always awesome. I asked for a quiet table in my reservation and was seated within 7” of other diners notwithstanding other tables being open. I got a better table only after I complained.
Put this restaurant your list.
The food was very heavy , creamy and not what we expected. We even had to ask for bread
Nice prix fixe options though we went a la cart in the end. Attentive service and delicious food with some healthy options.
The busboy was extremely rude in the way the food was delivered and when the plates were picked up. He also put the bread in front of my husband instead of putting in in the middle of the table. A shame because the food was good.
One pet peeve of mine is when there are two diners and the host only offers one menu. I had to ask for the second menu. Not good.
Great food, service & atmosphere!
Fresh pasta, great portions, nice selection of food and wine. Staff was top notch from the second we walked in the door. We will definitely be back
Great pasta, fish and steak. A truly wonderful meal with the usual top-notch service. Grazie!
Every Italian restaurant pales in comparison. We eat here maybe 4-5 times a year but the fact that they remember us, remember our wine, anticipate our orders means a lot. Beyond the service the food is by far the most outstanding representation of Italian cooking in DC. We've never had a bad meal here. It is always fantastic and anytime the truffles are in season go ahead and splurge - they are absolutely sublime.
Perfect food and frIendliest staff & manager
Wonderful restaurant for a special occasion with great food and service
We were pleased the hostess responded and changed our table. The bread and lobster with linguine was outstanding. Wine pour was so-so. Ambiance is like an Italian grotto and very cozy and atmospheric. Many waiters to assist. We've recommended Al Tiramisu in the past and will come again.
Very pleasant from start to finish.
I eat here often. Clearly something went wrong. The quality was absolutely missing. Sent my first meal back.... I have never done that before! Anywhere. The second choice was also below par.
Sad. This place is convenient and has always been so reliable.
My favorite restaurant in Washington. Excellent food and ambiance. Luigi is an artist and Najia is sunshine.
From the moment we walked in and being greeted with “buona sera” we knew we were in the right place. We sat down and were greeted by Chef Luigi. After speaking to him and wanting the full experience we handed over our palate to him and let him work his magic. Each course was incredible and we left delightfully full. I highly recommend Al Tiramisu and we will be frequenting Chef Luigi when we are in town. Thank you Chef
My favorite Italian Restaurant in DC. Luigi and the staff are wonderful. Great food in cozy setting that reminds me of a small ristorante in Italy. Pasta dishes and fresh grilled fish are superb.
Simply this is the best restaurant in DC. They offer simple food perfectly done, which is extremely difficult. Most restaurants fancy themselves to be "creative" or "new," but 99 out of 100 simply provide you experimental junks. Being Japanese, I appreciate Tiramisu's approach of reduction like visiting a beautiful zen temple.
I had the gnocchi, which were excellent. I got them with the veal ragu rather than the cheese sauce. My wife had the polpette, which she said were only fair. We shared the salad of the day, and had glasses of a red wine recommended by the waiter. It was good, but not quite great. It was a pleasant meal on a quiet Sunday night.
Still one of the best restaurants in Washington!
We love this restaurant. It’s a gem near DuPont circle. It does get noisy so go early.
Disappointed. Wait staff was nice but somewhat robotic and lacked ability to engage customers. They were focused on running through talking points on specials. Also, I ordered the gnocchi and it was not good. The dish was drowning in a light cheesy-like sauce. It looked and tasted like a heavy Mac and Cheese. That’s not the way gnocchi should be prepared. My guest ordered ravioli for a main course and although good, very small portion. For a place that’s been around for quite some time, very disappointing. Sad. We were looking forward to a really nice meal.
As an Italian, spoiled by my grandmother's cooking growing up, I think the pasta at Al Tiramisu' is made well. I have been several times now, and would recommend it to anyone. The only thing that surprised me on my last visit is that one of the dishes was significantly smaller compared to the others. The ravioli were delicious, but 6 rather small pieces of pasta aren't exactly filling, and also probably not worth $25.
Aside from this minor issue, I like this restaurant and think they make good pasta.
