Simply this is the best restaurant in DC. They offer simple food perfectly done, which is extremely difficult. Most restaurants fancy themselves to be "creative" or "new," but 99 out of 100 simply provide you experimental junks. Being Japanese, I appreciate Tiramisu's approach of reduction like visiting a beautiful zen temple.
Still one of the best restaurants in Washington!
We love this restaurant. It’s a gem near DuPont circle. It does get noisy so go early.
Disappointed. Wait staff was nice but somewhat robotic and lacked ability to engage customers. They were focused on running through talking points on specials. Also, I ordered the gnocchi and it was not good. The dish was drowning in a light cheesy-like sauce. It looked and tasted like a heavy Mac and Cheese. That’s not the way gnocchi should be prepared. My guest ordered ravioli for a main course and although good, very small portion. For a place that’s been around for quite some time, very disappointing. Sad. We were looking forward to a really nice meal.
As an Italian, spoiled by my grandmother's cooking growing up, I think the pasta at Al Tiramisu' is made well. I have been several times now, and would recommend it to anyone. The only thing that surprised me on my last visit is that one of the dishes was significantly smaller compared to the others. The ravioli were delicious, but 6 rather small pieces of pasta aren't exactly filling, and also probably not worth $25.
Aside from this minor issue, I like this restaurant and think they make good pasta.
Fantastic food and service!!
Excellent gnocchi, branzino, clams linguine & pasta ragu. Empty plates by all.
Food was good, but not spectacular. Appetizer scamorze was tasty, pasta with fungi and wild boar stew also good, just not mind-blowing. Service was average. Because the restaurant is small tables are placed quite close and we had the unfortunate experience of being seated too close to a couple whose conversation was piercing.
Delicious food, great service, quiet and intimate. You will love this place.
Great food and great place produces a great dining experience
Great meal as always.
Excellent as always. Great food, knowledgeable and attentive wait staff.
We loved everything about it. It’s tucked away in a space I’ve walked by before and never noticed it. Spectacular service, delicious food.
Al Tiramisu is THE BEST Italian in Washington, DC. I'm still dreaming about the lobster fettuccini.
Great and flavorful Italian food. Very carefully prepared pasta and gnocchi, all homemade. Reasonable wines
Exceptional food and service.
I always love going to AL Tiramisu. The food and the service is outstanding.
Lovely as always
I love the food there. Last night I had sweet potato gnocchi with pecans. It was heavenly.
We are neighbors and comparative regulars at Al Tiramisu and looked forward to taking friends visiting from New York there for dinner. Al Tiramisu's two biggest draws are its food, which is consistently excellent, and the wait staff, which is personable, attentive, and usually charming. To our surprise and disappointment this time, the service was slow, inaccurate (two wrong orders for four people), and slap-dash. The bussing staff was rough and disinterested, shoving plates at us and reaching across the table repeatedly when it wasn't even necessary. We hope it was just a really off night, but it was a bad enough experience that we won't be going back to Al Tiramisu soon.
It is hard to find a top Italian in DC comparable to a fine New York City one. al Tiramisu accomplishes it. From the hostess with her warm welcome, to the helpful and knowledgeable waiter and staff, the environment pleased in every way If it was a little less expensive, I would come here often.
Good good, but rude staff. They made us feel unwelcome , removing plates before we finished eating, and got annoyed when we didn´t want appetizer. The restaurant was very noisy.
Exhausted after a transcontinental flight, I enjoyed a 6:30 dinner surrounded by attentive staff and a charming manager. What more could a person want! The food was delicious and not too salty. The white truffle was fresh and the aroma enticed me to eat every morsel.
The service was welcoming and we loved it all. Great suggestion for wine even when we didn’t want the most expensive wine.
They brought out catch of the day which is a display of large fish. These I think are meant to impress. I had the bronzino, wife had snapper. Neither were very large. Pasta I think was the best. Overall prices were a bit high for the drinks but place is very nice and the service was good. Fish was cooked well, but as noted a bit small with not a lot on the side.
Every time we visit D.C. we have made a point of dining here. Unfortunately, over the years we have experienced a declining trend with each subsequent visit. Tonight we determined that this was our last visit. The place was crowded as usual but the table spacing was very poor. We felt like we were on top of the people around us. The noise of the place was extremely loud as were the people around us. Service was fair. Hard to understand how you can have limited wait staff with the number of people dining. Food was below previous experiences. It was a nice run.., time to move on.
Very disappointed in our experience. Very loud environment. Bread was served cold with an olive/sardine spread that had such a ‘fishy’ taste nd aftertaste-not good at all. Entrees were less than average - would never return to nor recommend this restaurant to anyone.
We went with another couple for our anniversary and it was fantastic!!!
Excellent snapper and branzino. Nice "intimate" atmosphere slightly below ground level, yet a relatively quiet corner booth/table for 4. Friendly and competent service. All in all an excellent place.
We had a party of five and we all very much enjoyed the evening. The food was great and the hostess was incredibly kind. I highly recommend Al Tiramisu!!!!
Great food and service.
Fantastic service and main course food. I wouldn’t recommend the burrata as it just missed the mark on flavor.
The special lobster risotto was flavorful as was the pasta with clams, fettuccine ragu and pappardelle pasta
So good! The waiter could have been a tad nicer but the food, the wine, everything else was amazing. Will definitely be going back!
very accommodating and attentive service - thanks!
Perfect except my $25 glass of wine should have been $10. I ordered a $13 one for my second glass and it was far better than the first
Great pasta. I had the pappardelle with mushroom ragout. It was delicious! Great place to go before or after a show or a celebration.
Thanks for making our celebration so memorable. From the time of our arrival to our departure, we received excellent service.
The food was authentic Italian.
A got a piece of snapper and it’s was so bad—soggy and over cooked. I told the waiter it was bad, and all he said was “oh, sorry”. Didn’t offer to bring me a new piece, another dish, nothing. Just the check at full price. I think he could have cared less. Really bad meal—avoid this place. One interesting thing—barely anyone there under 60. I think they have this old clientele, who keeps going there for some reason, and that’s how they stay afloat. Definitely not a young discriminating, crowd. If you want to blow $100, eat half the meal, and leave hungry, this is your place.
