Al Dente Restaurant Ratings and Reviews
I’ve been there dozens of times for business and pleasure and it is always great. From the host out front who always has a quick story, to the experienced waitresses, the personal service is second to none. The dining room is small but the menu is not- homemade pasta great sauces, exceptional veal and delicious shrimp & scallops with vodka sauce over fresh made pasta. Everything is tasty but don’t expect coffee or dessert as they’ve done away with that since there’s many options for that nearby. Go right up the street to the coffee bar.
There are tons of choices in the Northend but this is my favorite!
Very happy with the food! Authentic and large portions. Reservations are an absolute must, we were right on time and still had to wait about 10-15 minutes or so; I can only imagine how long the wait without reservations is on a busy Friday or Saturday night! I got chicken parm with tortellini and my girlfriend got the shrimp & calamari diavolo. The place was jam packed and our food came insanely quick. We were in an out within 50 minutes. It's a little dark and fairly loud but otherwise I definitely recommend Al Dente!
This just became our new favorite North End Restaurant. The homemade pasta was outstanding, cooked perfectly al dente. Generous portions of veal parmesan, shrimp and scallops with vodka sauce, and shrimp marinara (prepared by special request!) arrived to the table hot from the kitchen. Delicious food was complimented by exceptional service and a warm friendly waitstaff!
This place is small, but nice and authentic. Very hard to park close to it, but the walk around the neighborhood is invigorating and interesting. Just allow enough time. The tables are close together, and this would not seem to be a great spot for a large group. The food came out quickly, and it was delicious. Tables were cleared quickly, and our 82-year-old server was a doll. We had a great time.
Am Dente was a place I spotted on this website and as I proceeded to check out the menu my choice was made. Many options for authentic Italian dining. Wine choice was great for my significant other. My overall dining experience was fantastic. Highly recommended for a quick date night in the North End of Boston.
The North End can be imposing. But if you are in Boston, how can you not go? Narrow streets, great smells from every direction. Just go. Take your kids. Order a big pasta. Enjoy a glass of Chianti. Kibbitz with the server. Just go. The food is very good, the experience is excellent.
I went to Al Dente for my birthday dinner with some of my friends and we all had a great time. Everyone was talking about what a great choice of restaurant this throughout our meal. Marge, our waitress, was wonderful and attentive. The food was yummy and flavorful! I am a vegetarian and I had no issue finding food to eat. The restaurant was adorable. I will definitely be going back!
We were here with two of our friends. It was a lovely night and the food was AMAZING. I don’t normally order lasagna but because it was rated one of the best lasagnas in Boston, I took the risk. I’m so glad I did! The sauce in particular was outstanding. Our waitress was JoAnna and she was so fun and spunky. She also helped us pick a bottle of wine. If you do go, make sure to make a reservation. You won’t get in without it on a busy weekend night!
Noise deafening worst ever. Hostess unpleasant. Waitress nice. Ordered a glass of wine. Never received it. When I questioned where was my wine, the waitress stated, pleasant, I did not think you wanted it. Offered it but my meal was half finished. Tortellini over cooked. Mushy. Bread fair. Thrown on table. My husband had a shrimp and broccoli dish. Said across the street much better. Do not bother
I had the most amazing Lasagna with bolognese sauce. I tried my friends Gnocci which was delicious! We also had the special fig and goat cheese salad and a side of eggplant rollatini. We rolled out of there with happy bellies 😋 and capped it off with a shot of their special limoncello! Annette our waitress was fun and attentive!
This is our favorite North End Spot. Traditional food, great wait staff, and the food was great!
The price also very reasonable for the amount of food we had.
The chicken and Veal Marsala was fantastic. The sauce was cooked down properly. It had that nice sweet syrup wine sauce taste. The shrimp scampi and Chicken Parm was very good too.
We ordered the Bruschetta to start with and we all remarked on how fresh and juicy the tomatoes tasted along with the raw garlic. It was delicious and you definitely should get it as an app! I got the pesto sauce with homemade gnocchi and the gnocchi was so soft and you could tell it was freshly made. The pesto sauce was creamy but very flavorful. My friend got the Pumpkin ravioli - a seasonal item - and it was sweet yet had a kick to it, get it if you come this fall! My other friend got the Chicken Parm and while it was good, I think there are stronger menu Items. Lastly, we ordered a single meatball, and it was truly the best meatball i've ever tasted - Get one!!! Will be coming back! Also, the portions are pretty big and definitely a good bang for your buck.
