Al Biernat's - Oak Lawn Ratings and Reviews
We were highly disappointed in our overall experience. We have been several times in past years for dinner and always enjoyed the experience. However, this time it felt more like having dinner in a bar. Extremely loud! Could not have a conversation with each other and there was only two of us at the table. Our service was very slow and sadly our food was very bland. Just not what we were looking for on our special occasion and not worth the money for the quality. Unfortunately, this will be our last visit.
We had a wonderful experience, as always. Appetizer and salad were both timely and delicious. Our bottle of wine was fantastic and consistently poured by our server and additional employees. Our server even brought out a special banana peanut butter tart in addition to our apple cobbler dessert. We had such a fun time. Thank you, Al Biernat’s!
Our overall experience did not leave us wanting to return, primarily due to the type of service. The food itself was good. However, when paying a minimum of $56 for the steak alone, you expect the service to be exceptional. We were not given any of the specials. I had a friend who had told us of a special. When I asked if it was still available he said yes but did not mention any of the other specials or the soup of the day. We were celebrating my husbands birthday but were not asked what brought us in. Overall, we were left unimpressed and feeling like it was just a mediocre experience.
Al's is always a great choice for a business meal, fine dining or special occasion. The service is outstanding beginning with being greeted by the attentive staff. The energy level is high and the noise can be a little overpowering sometimes but it really is just part of the experience.
This restaurant is well run beginners with the friendly valet. Our cocktail server comped my drink while we waited for a table. Wow, when was the last time time that happened? We ask for a quieter table and they were happy to accommodate our request. Super Friendly staff. I had the veal osso buco and my husband had the salmon, both delicious. Even Al said hello. You get it all here!
The food was outstanding - from the appetizers to dessert we were in heaven. Our server was very kind and pleasant; however, he did not read us the specials and seemed to be sort of rushing at times. We had to listen to the specials from the server at the table next to ours. He also asked us what we wanted to drink before giving us a wine/drink menu, which was odd. Otherwise, he was fantastic and tended to our needs and even provided a dessert on the house for our anniversary. We will definitely be back!
Dined New Years Eve with a party of 8 and of course the place was packed. It does get
loud and difficult to hear. They don’t do a set menu which is another reason we chose Al’s.
We hate those set menus where the food is usually terrible.
Our waiter was excellent we ordered Sea Bass, Lemon Sole, Filet, Chicken Piccata and Lamb Chops all excellent.
I have never had a bad meal there and it is my favorite place to dine. We did chose it over the North location which is closer to us
But the menus are different and we like the Oaklawn choices a bit better.
We had an unfortunately poor dining experience. We've dined at Al Biernat's many times and this is the first time the food was sub par. We started with Oysters Rockerfeller . They arrived at the table cold. We sent them back and they reheated them to slightly better than lukewarm. I was surprised by the bland taste. Definitely, not the typical buttery decadent experience I expected. We selected the New Year's Eve special, Kobe steak and lobster thermidor. Once again the food was lukewarm. My steak tasted as if it was heated with some type of propane-gas torch. It had an odd propane-gas flavor. I chose not to comment on the steak with the waiter since we were there to have a relaxing early New Year's Eve dinner. I would also like to note that the waiter gave another waiter a fist bump indicating his success at selling the expensive NYE special. I've always enjoyed Al Biernat's for their superior dining experience. It was a huge disappointment this time.
We had just gotten married the day before and we were so excited that we were able to get a reservation on short notice, not only that, but the service was exceptional and they were actually very excited to hear that we were newlyweds. Mentioning that we should come back again next year for our anniversary!
We wanted someplace special to have dinner on our 50th wedding anniversary. Al Biernat's certainly made our night special. The service and the food were excellent. They surprised us with a special desert plate that had "Happy 50th Anniversary" written in chocolate !
Took my boyfriend as part of his Christmas present. We went the day after Christmas and it was noteably less busy than Valentine’s Day. We both ordered the exact same thing we’ve ordered before - me the Chilean Sea Bass and him the Filet “Oscar”. The Sea bass was well cooked with a nice crust but a little bland - it’s served over delicious lobster rice. The steak just melts in your mouth. Our appetizer was the tempura prawns and they were fantastic!
