Al Biernat's - Oak Lawn Ratings and Reviews
Had to wait almost an hour for our reservation.
Wait person was using her invisibility cloak to disappear for minutes at a time. One of my favorite restaurants but this experience was one of the worst dining nights ever especially considering since i called and asked for our favorite waiter and mentioned it was a birthday dinner.
A longtime Dallas classic. Professional wait staff, tremendous and diverse menu, energetic atmosphere. Biernat’s very accommodating to requests made in advance. A booth request is s good idea during peak times as both the dining room and bar can become fairly noisy.
I had not dined there in ten years. During that period, the restaurant had done a substantial renovation. It is darker now. It is a great look, just different. The great food and service remained unchanged as I remembered them. It remains a special treat I get as an infrequent reward for my guest and myself.
We were there for brunch on a Sunday morning, and apparently they were short staffed, as the timing of our meal was off. For example, soup was brought to the table after an lengthy wait, and then entrees promptly followed, with no time to eat the soup. Cocktail glasses sat empty much longer than they should have (or maybe they under-estimated how much we would drink!) The food was simply OK, not memorable!
Absolutely awesome experience!
Jenna did a great job even though they were very busy. We never felt like we needed anything and she was always there if we did. Food was exceptional. The GM even stopped by and said hello which was surprising with how full the restaurant was.
Dinner at 8 and promptly seated. We escargot and oysters rockefeller for starters. The oysters rockefeller had fresh spinach cooked to perfection the escargot came with a creamy sauce that was a good change from the boring old standards.
The menu many hard choices that looked good but, we ended up both choosing the surf and turf which was served with asparagus and mashed potatoes -both were very good.
Dessert was key lime pie and carrot cake. They were good - not outstanding and I probably would try some of the other items next time.
Service was attentive but not pushy and the server had many good recommendations including the berry martini.
The detractor as has been the case in many other reviews was the noise level. Seriously leaning into the table to hear the other person speak - not for "romantic" dinners unless your partner wants to constantly here "...what?"
A quintessential steak house with top notch cocktails, excellent apps, great wine and steak to die for. The staff is friendly, knowledgeable, and helpful in every way. The bar is lively and great place to people watch. One of the best steakhouse experiences you will ever have.
I was recently in Dallas for a reunion with friends and memorial for one of our friends who had recently passed away. It thought I would spend the evening before the event at Al's to sort of lift my spirits and did it ever. What a great place. The food was excellent and the place was absolutely electric with people enjoying themselves, the food and the excellent service. This was my first time at the restaurant and I will certainly be back. I became familiar with Al Beirnat's as my wife and I were regular customers of his small restaurant in Creede, Colorado, also an excellent dining establishment which is now unfortunately, temporarily closed, due to unforeseen circumstances not related to the excellence of food and service there. Hopefully it will re-open. Back to this review. I was fortunate to meet Al briefly while at the restaurant. He is absolutely charming and a gracious host. What struck me most was how engaged he was with everyone in the restaurant from the customers, to the bus and wait staff, the the cooks, maitre d's, everyone. He obviously ensures everything is "right." My father was in the restaurant business and he alway said, "you gotta be there to make it right." Al Biernat makes it right. I had my standard, caesar salad, NY strip, rare, and as a splurge, macaroni and cheese with lobster. Wow! Super good! For dessert, Al's special coconut creme pie. To die for! Everything was delicious and the steak was cooked perfectly. Bryan, my waiter, must be clairvoyant. He knew what I wanted, when I wanted it and his timing and attention to detail were perfect. I highly recommend Al Biernat's. You definitely get what you pay for at this establishment.
Hard to imagine anyone not having a superb dining experience at Al Biernat's. This restaurant stayed on top of their game for decades--great variety, perfectly-executed dishes, and service as it should be in a fine dining venue. Portions are generous. Lighter eaters could easily share dishes. I always seem to order too much because so many things on the menu are tempting. Don't overlook Sunday brunches--probably the best value-for-the-money in the entire Dallas Metroplex.
The new restaurant is beautiful. The service so great helping and kind. Food over the top. What is not to like. I made my reservations at the wrong place and called at 10:40 this morning and a kind lady made it good. That’s customer service !!!! This is the best
First time dining there. Great service from the minute you walk in. Owner would greet you, was seating people, moving chairs stopping by almost over table to speak with guests. Made you feel welcome and just as important as everybody. Place was packed and a little loud but was a great experience!! Would love to go back someday!!!
