Al Biernat's - Oak Lawn Ratings and Reviews
Incredibly LOUD!! My husband and I had a 7:30 Wednesday evening reservation to celebrate our anniversary, because Al Biernat's has been a special restaurant for us over the years. Unfortunately we walked into a wall of noise (customers talking; if there was background music we couldn't have heard it) so loud that we could barely hear one another. The restaurant was so crowded that our waiter had difficulty getting to us, and we couldn't get to the restrooms or door without asking other diners to pull into their tables. I suspect that they have crammed in extra tables and expanded 4-tops to 6-tops to accommodate the holiday demands, but that level of noise destroyed the ambiance. It was so unpleasant that we left before ordering. I thought it telling that both our waiter and the manager followed us out with apologies, asking "is it the noise?".
We'll try again after the holidays in hope that this is just a temporary issue.
For the price point I was hoping for just a bit more from these guys. The apps were fantastic as were our steaks. The lobster mac and cheese came with some nice lobster shells mixed in and the sauteed spinach was quite chewy. The ultimate let down was the service. Our server seemed like it was a constant race to the finish with zero personality. Her helper was absolutely fantastic. That gentleman needs to be a server and not a deliverer of bread and lighter of candles. Kudos my man. Thanks for making up for the other shortcomings. Overall a very nice visit and would come back again.
PS: Special thank you to the manager. Stand up guy.
Love, love, love this restaurant. The food is always fantastic and service impeccable. I just wish they would do something to quiet it down. We took Mom for her 80th birthday and ended up repeating everything. Even with hearing aids she couldn’t hear the conversation.
A favorite restaurant for our family and we chose this for my husband's retirement dinner. Brian was our waiter and he was so kind, considerate, and helpful through out the evening. Above all else he made my husband feel special on this occasion for celebration.
Always very good but our service this late evening could have been more attentive. We arrived around 10:15 for a late dinner after the Mavs game and were seated quickly. We then had a few servers come to us and then disappear. Not sure if they knew whose table it was but after awhile they figured it out. See you again soon
Al's never disappoints. We were there to celebrate our son and future daughter in law's engagement with a large party of 9. Food and attention to detail were over the top. Love, love, love the food. The steaks and seafood were done to perfection. We had one diner with diet restrictions and was able to accommodate. Lots of picture taking and congratulations from neighboring tables, showing true Southern hospitality. We love coming to Al's and will come back!
Had to wait almost an hour for our reservation.
Wait person was using her invisibility cloak to disappear for minutes at a time. One of my favorite restaurants but this experience was one of the worst dining nights ever especially considering since i called and asked for our favorite waiter and mentioned it was a birthday dinner.
