Al and Alma’s Supper Club was founded in 1956 by Al and Alma Quist. During the day Al was a firefighter and the Mayor of Island Park, at night he cooked the best food on the lake! His idea of creating a dining destination worth making a trip for propelled a lasting history as Lake Minnetonka's longest operating restaurant. Open for dinner only, today's modern restaurant embraces recipes that have spanned three generations. The term "Supper Club" embraces our past but requires no membership! Hand cut steaks, slow cooked BBQ ribs, famous campstyle walleye and homemade desserts accompany modern American fare and delightful nightly specials including fresh ocean fish. Join us out on Phelps Island; you'll be glad you did!
Al & Alma's restaurant is a perfect choice if you want a quiet and relaxed atmosphere, good food, and wonderful service.

Al and Alma's is one of the jewels of he dinning experience in the Twin Cities. The food was excellent and the service just terrific. I felt so welcome there.

Although they were extremely busy(Valentines Day), the service, food, and ambience was outstanding. We will be back in the summer for a cruise!!

My wife and I spent New Yesrs Eve here for a delicious dinner prior to a movie night out. It was decorated nicely for the Holidays, quiet, clean and warm on a cold night.
Our food was very good with service that was except able, but I was waiting to ask for a second glass of water, without a mid dinner visit after the first to see if we were satisfied.
I let it pass on a busy dinning night out for any one working for us that weren’t.

We will return at some point.
Thanks A&A

We wanted to take our kids out for a special dinner that wasn’t a chain restaurant. We loved it, they loved it. We have 4 kids, including 5 year old twins. It was perfect for a family with fantastic service, great food options and awesome ambience. Will definitely go again!!
We have also gone on their Father’s Day cruise, that was fantastic too!!

Very Cold in the resturant. Bathrooms were freezing cold with no hot water to wash hands. We had 5pm dinner reservations. They would not open their doors until 5:05PM. Food was OK. Nothing special. Old time crackers.

Very nice setting and excellent service. My wife's meal was very good and mine was average. I don't think anyone in Mn knows how to make ribs.

Al & Alma's is the quintessential supper club, right on Lake Minnetonka. There were 6 of us (1 child) for a Saturday night dinner. It was pretty empty when we arrived at 5:45 but quickly filled up by 6:30. 3 of us had steaks, they were all very good. The cheesy hashbrown (special side) was amazing. Too bad it was already dark so we couldn't see the lake. Service was fine, not outstanding, but we weren't in a hurry. Overall great place.

Had a wonderful time and food here with our parents and kids. We had a beautiful window seat where we could see the charter boat take off on the lake. The food was great, but would have loved vegan options. Our waitress was very kind and helpful. Will definitely come here again if the menu expands to include vegan options.

My wife & I arrived for dinner for our anniversary & being a person of color I got the look that they have never seen a person of color in this Resturant!!!

Our waitress was not good! She kept bringing me beers that had 3 ounces of beer missing. I had the walleye which was good, but they served it with cold potatos & when I brought this to the servers attention she didn't take upon herself to fix it. Needless to say I won't be returning to business again!

Our table was ready for us upon our arrival, but with the crowd and noise level, that was not the place for conversation. I wouldn't call it a supper club as much as a bar with dining tables scattered about.
The food was pretty good, not outstanding. There was a fair variety of choices, but not so many that it took long to decide what to try.

I was blown away! I loved the location, friendliness of the staff, attentiveness of the staff, helpfulness of the staff when recommending drinks and meals. The meal I had was the lobster mac n cheese and it was AMAZING. I am very picky about any and all kinds of mac n cheese and this more than measured up!!! all I could do the next day was thinking about the lobster mac n cheese. I was visiting a friend and have advised her that this will be a tradition. Everytime I visit we will be stopping by! LOVED!!!!

BBQ ribs were delicious! Another member of our party had liver and onions and said it was good too. Service was efficient and pleasant. Our reservation and request for a window table were no problem. This was our first time here and we enjoyed our dinner even though the restaurant isn't as upscale as we were expecting for an establishment called a "supper club". Dining area is small and in the same room as the bar. Tables are close together and chair backs from adjacent tables tend to touch the back of each other. Tables tops are Formica with no linens/placemats. The restaurant is not directly on the lake but across the street from the lake and there are houses between the restaurant and the lake. Lake views are through the yards of the houses.

The onion rings are great ! The only reason I gave it a three overall was we never got our OpenTable points.

We used to live in the area and have eaten at AL & Alma's for years, been on boat cruises, and have been there for Silent Auctions and family events. We moved to CA about four an a half years ago and when in MN have to get some good walleye! Their camp style walleye is excellent and Iove the oven browned potatoes. This meal was with our family that still lives in the area. I would recommend this local treasure to anyone!

Iconic Lake Minnetonka restaurant across the street from the lake, completely remodeled, looks quite different from 20 years ago but I really like the place. A must go to at least yearly.

Our garlic mashed potatoes were not very warm. Even though the chicken tasted good, it seemed a bit done. The ribs and shrimp were VERY good! The service was GREAT and we really liked the atmosphere and location. Will be back to try a couple other menu items.

We were seated and then nobody came to our table for about 10 minutes. The place was packed and so noisy that when the server did come, she couldn't even hear us. The food quantity seems to have diminished. It was very disappointing. Don't need to go back any time soon.

We love going to Al & Alma's! We always have great service and the food is fabulous for a reasonable price! We love to support our local businesses! Not only is the supperclub a great experience for food and service, but so are the cruises - whether you go on a public or private!

The food was prepared and cooked to perfection. Major kudos to the chef! The only thing I noticed was that the waitress's were so busy that I felt bad for them. They did an awesome job but they should have had more staff for Mother's Day. We're definitely coming back soon!
