Excellent Indian food. Everything from the appetizers to entrees were cooked to perfection. Staff is efficient and caring. Ambiance is warm and noise level is low allowing for a relaxing dining experience. We came here often before Covid and now that we're back, we couldn't be happier.
Nice location and size of place. I recommend!
Yes, I would recommend Akbar. The food was hot, tasty and served on time. The waiter was friendly and helpful. My only complaint would be that the restaurant needs to be updated, decor a little tired. If they update it, it might even increase their clientele.
Been here 4 times now. Authentic cuisine. We are vegetarian and had many choices. Started with the chili paneer. For mains we had dal makhani, malai kofta, sag paneer and baingan Bharta (eggplant). Loved it all. Took a bunch home. Ended with gulab jamin. We will be back.
We are vegetarian and found a wide selection of choices. The food was consistently delicious.
We have been going to the Akbar Restaurent for many years, starting when it had opened in the Roosevelt Shopping Mall parking area. We have lways found it to be excellent.
The food was very poor. It was Father’s Day so they had a buffet style dinner. Out of all the dishes only one of the appetizers tasted good. This is just sad. The dishes were very bland and the chicken tasted very chewy which is extremely odd. I know their a la carte menu and options are very tasty but the buffet was just a major let down. On special occasions like this where people are really looking forward to spending time and enjoying good food, you should stick to serving what people are expecting. My parents were really disappointed and I sadly won’t be coming back.
My husband & I have been going to Akbar for at least 35 yrs. That, in itself, is a testament to how much we love it there. Food is delicious, service is great & the waiters/waitresses are very friendly. Our daughter loves it too.
Food was delicious and we wanted a more spacious table and they were very accommodating! Will go again!
Stopped by for dinner on the way to the game. Authentic. Good service. Liked the food and would go again.
Very small quantity of entrees.
Very few vegetarian options available.
Parking not available.
You have to cross the busy street to park and walk to restaurant
Always quality food with exceptional service
We were here to celebrate our daughter's graduation from Hofstra. The food was simply phenomenal. The rest of the experience was mediocre at best, but the food was so good that we'd be back in a heartbeat except we will likely never get back to the area. (Graduation, remember.)
Problems with ambiance and service included a young boy from another family who was jumping around the restaurant, and the staff did nothing until I nearly walked out. Also, staff were generally inattentive once we'd placed our order.
Very good food. The cauliflower app. was outstanding. very good service and attitude
The food is awesome. We are always pleased with the food and the staff. Akbar is our go to...
Super friendly people and the best Indian food we have had anywhere in the states.
Service was very good. I was disappointed with my tandoori chicken was super dry & not hot. It seemed like it was pre cooked. Beautiful decor. A tad expensive for what we ordered.
The food is excellent and the service is good. A very positive dining experience.
Great food. Great service.
Lack of proper service for first time attendee. No one to explain and go over the menu with you. You just had to guess 🙄 what to get. I wanted an experience of a different backgrounds cuisine, never received it.
Good food, good service
Birthday meal. Good food good service. Nice time.
This is our favorite place for special occasion. The food is exquisite and it is something we always go for. The place is clean, quiet and has a very god ambiance whether for a date or a family dinner. Staff are welcoming and very efficient.
Very large place, but the food was fantastic, and excellent service. Of course things do not feel the same with the restrictions. Tables spread out do not give that nice, intimate feel, but it is not the restaurants fault. Found the exterior walkway a little desolate, and unkept.
Regardless, I would be back
Great food good service only complaint was my seating arrangement but I’ll just chalk it up to a busy night. Will come back again
We were there for Valentine’s Day. We ate indoors and the table was appropriately Socially distant. The service was wonderful and food delicious.
On arrival, no one to greet you! Stood around like a spare part until a waiter took us to a room and sit “anywhere”!! We had a reservation but they didn’t need to know.
The serving waiter was pleasant.
Food was terrible. Every dish looked the same and WAS MADE with the same Pre prepared sauce. When we asked for ‘not’ spicy for the child in our party the request was disregarded.
The waiter apologized when we complained and said to remind them on our next visit that we had received bad food. For a $300 Bill for 4 people, to have such poor experience is unacceptable.
Poor ambiance. Waited over an hour for our food. Our waiter never checked on us. Food was below average. The chicken tandoori was overcooked.
Excellent service, outstanding food and reasonably prices.
Very good service, and excellent food, as always. Goat Biryani was amazing!
My experience was great definitely would go back if I could with friends or someone…!!
Food presentation was the best !!
We went for my husband's birthday. Food was delicious. Service a bit slow. Overall though a good experience
Great staff, great food, great service!!!
Dessert was terrible and they didn't even take off bill never had that not very
Service is mediocre at best. Portion size used to be a lot better Pre covid. There is no reason a full dinner meal, such as the lamb vindaloo, doesn’t come with any rice or naan. No complimentary pappadam or bread on the table, even with a party of seven. For the price... definitely not worth the trip.
We met friends for dinner last Saturday night. Akbar was a great choice!
Food was good and equally as important was the set up outside. Tables were positioned under a portico - well spaced - heat lamps were set up in case it got chilly.
Service was great and the food was really good. An all around excellent experience.
Service was a little slow, but I suspect that was due to covid and needing to serve tables both outside and inside. Some additional outdoor heaters would be helpful. Everything we ordered was delicious. Loved the appetizer sampler and shrimp curry dish. Portions were large, and we had leftovers for lunch the next day.
Second time there in 2 weeks. Food was just as good as the first time. People that work there are so sweet and kept checking if we were okay. I had to take food to go for my family at home. You won’t regret going there!
