Nice food, great atmosphere, very good services, recommend everyone to visit
Was very crowdy...no place to stand...inspite of making reservation twice (one through open table) and one by calling...these guys still made me wait for 30 mins to get me a table...I would not recommend anyone for this....also the food was not good...in a small space they were organizing two parties and also seating people for daily lunch buffet...i don't understand why do they organize parties when they don't have space
Some of the best Indian food around. That's saying something in Central NJ. And... they listen to how you want it spiced and follow through
The service at Akbar is as good as you will find anywhere. There is plenty of room between tables. The food is authentic, expertly prepared and delicious.
Excellent food always fresh and friendly staff make this a DEFINATE return visit.
Food was great and you could taste the freshness. Next time will order food hot since mild had no "heat" and medium very little.
Horrible buffet. Not worth the money at all! the food was prepared horribly and there was a total of 4 choices to eat, some buffet!!!!!
My husband and I had a lovely dinner at Akbar last Saturday. The service staff were very attentive and knowledgeable of the menu. We explained our preferences to our waiter and he provided recommendations for our selection of entrees. We asked for our meals not to be too hot and the chef prepared our meals with just the right amount of spices. The dining room is of a modest size, with large windows overlooking a courtyard. This location also has banquet rooms and had other events taking place. It got very busy as the night progressed. It was a very enjoyable experience and we will return.
Like so many other folks from Metuchen, I've seen Akbar many times but never entered. We had a delicious meal in a great environment with wonderful service. I will be back soon.
Table was ready for us as booked. Not a classy place. Food was great. Busy place. Would go again.
Well-appointed, fancily decorated Indian restaurant. Excellent, attentive service with fine atmosphere.
Food was good, but not exceptional. Not worth the long drive which we endured. Was expecting food quality to be as good as Moghul restaurant, but was not the case. We came to Akbar because we couldn't get a reservation at Moghul that night.
The 3 appetizers that we ordered were not so good - Veg Kati roll, Chilli Paneer, Afghan veg soup.
The breads and the veg main courses were good - yellow dal, kurkura bhindi, roomali roti, onion kulcha
Very well decorated Indian restaurant, reminiscent perhaps of dining room in the caliph's palace. Wall hangings in cut glass add to the atmosphere. The food is excellent and the overall service is very good. The one blemish on the experience was that the main courses were brought to the table while we were still finishing our appetizers. This appears to be prevalent in many restaurants these days and Akbar is not unique on this point. Overall, the food and ambiance make this a highly recommended dining location if Indian food is your thing.
Food (Oven - Clay) was below expectation, Table was not completely ready (missing required items) although reservation was made and confirmed well in advance.
We loved this restaurant. You want to go to an awesome, authentic Indian place? This is it. The attentiveness of our server was impressive and everyone had a great attitude. We felt very welcome. Also, the decor makes you feel like youve been transported to India. Its a great place.
