Amazing food along with great customer service! Highly recommend to anyone looking for a night out.
Our waiter was amazing, food was terrible, especially for the cost... Manager didn't seem to care!!!
This was our second visit to AJ’s and it did not disappoint us at all. On both visits we had different entrees and both my wife and I loved them. We will certainly be back again.
Have made numerous visits, have never had bad food or bad service. This is always my go to for a nice dinner. Highly recommend!
An Easter brunch that was terrible from word go. Inedible. Crab legs that must have been in a steamer for most of the day. A burger ordered "medium" served ridiculously well done. Filthy, crusty silverware and glasses. The replacement meal for the crab legs was an overcooked and salty prime rib sandwich that I got a box for it but threw it away the minute I got home. The server was nice but unfazed making me think this quality of meal served was not uncommon. I spent $150 with tip. Do not recommend.
We are long time customers and Love AJ’s. Unfortunately our Easter experience with food quality was extremely poor. The chicken was over cooked and was dried up and dried out. It appeared as though it came off a buffet table. I had the ham dinner which was 2 small pieces of ham, about the size or a dollar bill, which appear appetizing but it was full of inedible fat and gristle. The asparagus had no flavor and was over grilled.
The manager stopped to ask us how our meal was as we took our first bite, and the taste was indeed flavorful.
The waitress then appeared with an identical order, perhaps it was our fresh food. She set it down and then took it away. It maybe awhile before we return to AJ’S.
Have never had a bad meal at AJ's. Easter Brunch was no different.
My wife and I enjoy dining at AJ's.
It's quiet so we can carry on a conversation without yelling, service is outstanding and the food is very good.
It is a bit pricey but well worth it for those special occasions.
I give AJ's 5 stars!!! The food was delicious, hot and served beautifully.
Davis was our server. He was fabulous!!
Thank you for a wonderful evening for my husband's birthday!!
Anniversary amd our waitress went above and beyond! She made us a card!
Great food! We went early on a Friday and diners were spaced far enough apart to feel really safe (with Covid). Our server was great as well.
This was our first time back since the closure last year. Appreciated the social distancing of seating and the safeguards in place with the "wait staff". Food was great and service was very fine. "Back up to Par". Thanks
Alright, this is my second review of AJ's Steakhouse, and it is a bit different from my first...Although I will echo some of the same talking points.
First off, service was AMAZING...we had Gerald, and he was probably the best server we have ever had in the restaurant business (and being a former 10 year server myself, I speak from experience to how great he was)
I am going to keep this review shorter, as the same problems from my previous review haven't changed, but in short, stick with the steak entrees and you will not be disappointed!
My biggest problems with my first visit involved everything that was not related to steak, and even our server himself echoed the point that steak was the way to go.
We have no complaints at all in our last visit and will definitely be back again in a week.
Good fresh food, had very good dish . Don't remember what it was called but had mushrooms rice and real creamy flavor like beef stroganoff .
The Best Lobster Bisque I have ever had. The Steak was on point and the service was great!
We frequent AJ's and we love the food there. It is served nice and hot and with good appeal. The waitress we had this time, Kayla was phenomenal!! She was there right at the right times, made sure I got sung to for my birthday and was VERY kind and sweet.
Celebrated my birthday with my wife and son. Our steaks were perfect and tasted fabulous. Great service and food!
The food was outstanding. Everything was cooked perfectly. The service was great. At least 5 different people asked us if we needed anything and how our dinner was.
My husband ordered the 2 pounds of crab legs special. I guess if you've never eaten fresh crab legs you would think they were good. The crab meat was so dry and shriveled it was crazy. 2 pounds of crab legs probably had 1/4 pound of meat as many of the legs were empty or so shriveled they were unedible. I usually really like AJ's but I don't think a crab special in the middle of winter in Iowa was a good idea. The crab was not fresh... not even close.
Went for Friday crab special. Outstanding service and appetizer but the crab was BAD. Crab was overly dry and some pieces were even beef jerky like.
Again, just the crab was a downer but all else was exceptional and waitress eliminated the bad from the bill.
Will dine there again, but no crab legs!
We LOVE AJ's!! Always a treat when we get to dine here!!
Gave a 3 star overall. Service was great! Had lobster ravioli as one app, and felt it was underdone, but filling was yummy. Steaks seemed a touch over, and they did offer to redo. Mushroom risotto was great. Tiramisu was pretty basic. Felt really overpriced. But again, service was great.
I ate here for the first time since I gamble a lot and had a lot of comps to use (free food)
That being said, it was easy to get into the restaurant, and the restaurant was very spacious and clean, although not much decor for a casino style restaurant
We were seated right away, and our server (Meagan) was great, with one of the friendliest personalities and best energies I have seen from a server in years (also the reason my review isn't more negative)
There were five of us, and we ordered several different appetizers and entrees as well as dessert, and I have to say, "most" things were very unimpressive.
The steak bruschetta shouldn't be called bruschetta, having none of the normal ingredients, and while the meat was good, it was tiny and lacking on actual bread by a wide margin.
The spinach dip was creamy, but very bland and lacking any sort of accompanying flavors, and again, about a dozen pieces of bread short of being able to use it.
The wedge salad was probably the worst I've ever had, I would not recommend getting this for any reason
The mushroom risotto was surprisingly good, and paired well with other dishes
The brussels sprouts were also good, with a slight sweet flavor and paired well with mashed potatoes
The lobster bisque was full flavored and enjoyable, but the french onion soup left a lot to be desired
Halibut was as expected, but could have used some lemon sauce
Lamb was overcooked a bit, but the flavor profile was as expected
The highlight was the sirloin steak, and everyone agreed that it was great, cooked right and the combination of the sauce and mushrooms and onions was perfect
Carrot cake was as expected, and a nice way to finish the meal
Overall, if it wasn't a free meal, I would definitely not do it again, but I will return to try other menu items to give it a chance. If it cost half what it does, it might be worth it, but price and tiny portions don't justify the lack of food quality.
Again, Meagan was amazing though!
Server was excellent and very kind to speak to, made sure we were happy
Portion size is relatively small for what they charge. $42 ribeye with a tiny portion of potatoes and a tiny house salad. Spent $130 for two people. Usually the crab stuffed shrimp is great but was dry and over cooked. $28 for 3 shrimp and a small side.
Great service and great food. It was a VERY enjoyable relaxing experience! Everyone was extremely kind!
Paid $46 for a steak that was uneditable. Waitress didn’t even ask why it was still on the plate when she took it from the table. Won’t go back.
Waitress was outstanding!! Food was great but overpriced.
Amazing how wonderful the food and service are! Very beautiful and well keep resturant!
Great place to eat. A little expensive for proportion amount. Need work on crablegs. Over cooked and brought to table cold. Overall a good dining experience.
It was my first experience there so I wasn't sure what to expect. Not really my cup of tea but its a nice place and the service is exceptional. I'll probably go back on a Friday when they have crab legs on the menu.
We were frequent customers here pre Covid. We were anxious to get back. The steaks we were oh so fond of, are no longer offered - so we went with traditional rib-eye. They were ok. For the $38 price tag, expected much better. Would rather cook our own at home for that price and taste. Will try something new the next time we go back. French onion soup is spot on! And our server was excellent.
We had a wonderful dining experience at AJs steakhouse at the casino I DeMoines Ia. My chicken meal was very tasty. The lobster bisque was outstanding! My husband had the steak with blue cheese and he really enjoyed it. He also raved about the lobster bisque. The wait staff and host was very pleasant and professional. This is how white tablecloth restaurants are suppose to be run. We look forward to our next meal there. Good value as well.
Always a great experience. Food and service always excellent. Steaks are always cooked to order, glasses are never empty. This is a certain go to for special occasions, but we go many times for great food!
The cocktails, meals, and service for our party of four were all fantastic, which is what you would expect from an upscale steakhouse. This wasn't our first visit and likely won't be our last.
The food was excellent and the service was impeccable. The server was very pleasant and helpful. We will definitely return 😁
Everyone was exceptional. Ryan - manager went out of his way to make our first visit wonderful.
Most amazing food i have ever had its a little pricey but well worth the money.
