Food and service were great. Especially liked the rack of lamb and the seafood paella. People next to us were loud and obnoxious.
The food is always excellent at Aioli. I brought a couple people with diverse likes and dislikes and everyone went away thrilled with dinner. The restaurant was quite crowded and we had to wait for a table for a few minutes after our reservation but the staff was all working hard to turn their tables and stay on top of what was an extraordinarily busy dinner on one of the first really nice days of the year. All and all, the Aioli staff made this a great experience.
We love our date nights at this place. It's romantic and cozy. Spanish food, what can I say, simply delightful. Our server Nicolas and sometimes Gigi (not sure the spelling), they'a bonus! Love this place!
Appetizers came quickly but main course was extremely delayed with only minimal apology. Then half the dishes were from another table’s order. Early in meal a server spilled behind my husband’s chair. Only much later did we realize the back of his sportcoat had a 4” square area with food caked on it. We liked the food and will give this place another chance in case it was just a bad night. But good service is more than servers memorizing dishes.
Great food and wine!!! Will come again. Authentic Spanish tapas place. Great to have this place in town.
The flamenco style guitar was a great addition to a mediocre food
I just haven't found this place to be consistent in their food. My shrimp was amazing but one of my guests shrimp was just cooked to death. Their sangria used to be great but this night it tasted like something you'd put in a Glade air freshener.
Also, it was a party of 10 for a celebration. I KNOW our bill was over $400 but all we got was deaths stares from the owner all night. He literally stood at the bar giving us the stink eye. It's was not only uncomfortable, but it's rude! It's also rude to call me and tell me to "come now" 30 mins before our reservation time. With all the places to eat in the area, why be rude to those that have selected yours???
The only reason that it's getting 2 stars is because of our fabulous server we had on Saturday (3/5/18). Nicolas......you saved us from just walking out. He made us all laugh and felt like he was making sure we were taking care of. He went out of his way to see that I had some sort of shrimp dish that didn't have saffron in it since I'm deathly allergic, so kudos to you and the chefs for making that happen. However, I will not be coming back any time soon.......
Very good light bites offerings for pre Symphony meal. Really enjoyable, good food, service and location .
Great time as always!
Awkward greeting; had to wait (no space for waiting so we were moved off to the side then had to move because a group was being seated at the table where we were cornered) despite resevations. Yummy paella. Our sever Achilles was great.
Absolutely delicious stellar meal. Two of us split 5 tapas and each was amazing I only wish we had room to try more. Favorites were the boquerones, albondigas meatballs, and beef pastries. Ambiance and cuisine felt very reminiscent of traveling in Spain. Excellent service. Look forward to coming back.
We went to have a festive Valentine Day lunch since we couldn't do dinner. We had never done that before and Aioli's turned out to be just the spot to do that! We had the special menu of the day starting with a delicious, light creamy zucchini soup, then a lovely salmon main dish followed by a small sliver (just the right size) of almond cake, and of course their Sangria and the lamb skewer tapas. A delicious meal with very friendly service all the while listening to the recorded Spanish guitar music - a great afternoon!
It was a great date night spot! Loved the food and the portions were just right! Would definitely recommend!
The food was spectacular and service made the experience enjoyable af. I strongly recommend this quaint and delicious midtown dining option.
Fantastic every time. One of those places you can walk and ask the waitress to just do the ordering for you and know that everything will be outstanding. Live Spanish guitar. Beautiful from the moment you arrive to the last bite.
Always great food, great service and great ambiance!
My wife and I had been here a couple times before, but this was our first night out without the baby in a long time. We were happy to get an outdoor table, and since it was a relatively slow Friday night, we had the entire patio to ourselves for a little while. Even if it had been full, it would have still been cozy. The previous time we came, the server was a bit of a brat who gave my mother-in-law some attitude because she asked him to repeat the specials he had rattled off very quickly. This time, our server, Madelin, was very gracious, explained everything slowly and in appetizing detail, and checked on us regularly. We had the bacala first. Incredible. Then we had the Valenciana paella, which was at least as delicious as the mariscos paella we had the last time. And for dessert we had something that was like a creme brulee, but I forget what it was called. The tempranillo and albariño paired perfectly with all of our food. These guys always have the best Spanish wines. Perfect place for a date.
Food here is always amazing. Our waitress in thus occasion was pretty brisk and I didn't appreciate her tone. There was hardly anyone in the restaurant, which made her attitude even more surprising. Even though the restaurant was maybe only 1/5 full, we had to wait 30 minutes for our food to arrive. Makes it hard to go there if you have to head back to work....
Delicious food, great music and ambience. This has become one of our favorite restaurants in Sacramento.
Food was excellent, even for a picky eater. Wine selection, so-so, would expect a stronger selection of Spanish wines, and the Verdejo came overchilled. Sangria was good, not sweet, for a change. The service was more European style, “quirky”, some might say. The bus boys did not seem at all coordinated, and our waiter, while very professional otherwise, in the end grabbed the signed check before we left. The acoustics makes the place very loud easily, and they did not need to amplify the acoustic guitar playing, but they did, unfortunately... But the food was excellent.
Food and ambiance always good, but service was bad! Waiter has been there forever. Asked for recommendations, he offered none. My friend asked him about the specials and he threw the specials menu at her. He got another friends order wrong. Maybe it's time to retire!
This is one of our favorite special occasion destinations. With so many new, cool restaurants in Sac I still prefer the well established, classy vibe and sangria here.
We wanted a lighter meal so we shared small plates of thinly sliced salmon, tuna tartare and portobello mushrooms. The only difficulty was trying to decide which was best.
The service was a bit slow, but the place was busy.
An excellent blend of flavors and textures presented in a most pleasing way.
The food was amazing thanks to our waiter who took charge for us! Thanks Nick....
Just a celebration. Service was great, did was great. We will come back.
The food was great, the service was good but we let our waiter order for us and he over did it. He should have asked us a few more questions. This ran up the bill.
Cold, rainy evening so the paella was the perfect choice. Our waiter knew the wine list very well and we were very happy with the whole experience.
Reda and his team do an outstanding job on both the food and service. I always have a dinner here whenever I'm in Sacramento. The food is fresh, tasty, innovative and the service is fun and relaxing.
Excellent food! Authentic Spanish tapas options along with entrees. We had a group of eight and truly enjoyed the experience. The staff helped direct us and made solid recommendations.
The host (owner?) was a little brusk, but otherwise the service was great. We had a fantastic time celebrating!
The Dine Downtown menu was a big disappointment in its execution. Chicken and pasta dishes both were overcooked and the salmon did not taste fresh. 4 courses for $35 was a good bargain but there is not excuse for sloppy cooking.
Disappointed in the service, food was not very authentic. The server came with plates and didn’t know who had ordered what. He also announced to us when we sat down that everyone at the table needed to order the 3 course Prix Fixe selection, or no one! This was not as advertised. Of all the Dine Downtown participants we visited, this was the most disappointing. Perhaps their regular menu would have been better.
I have been to Aioli several times and found everything--food, drinks, service--very enjoyable. That's why I had no reservation in recommending to friends that we try their "Dine Downtown" menu. Most restaurants recognize that event as an opportunity to showcase their talents. Not so at Aioli. They considered it an opportunity to simplify kitchen offerings, trot out pedestrian fare, and turn the tables. The salad and dessert were above average, but the entrees were substandard, ordinary at best. The mojito was not prepared properly, and it always has been in the past. We were rushed, the service was ungracious and awkward, and we ended up being embarrassed at having hosted a mediocre meal. $35 for dinner is not extreme; neither is it bargain-basement. In this case, it was expensive for the quality of the meal. It will be a long time before I return.
We loved the use of vegetables in every course, from the garlicky bean dip with the bread, the French lentils with the sausage, and the mushrooms served with chicken. Attentive service.
Delicious meal and lovely setting! One of my favorite restaurants!!!
Went to Aioli for dine-downtown. My meal was pretty good; however, my boyfriend ordered the chicken and it was awful to say in the least. It was chewy, hard to cut, and I did not have a good flavor. Such a bummer to spend that much money on a meal that just was not great. Probably will not be back.
Enjoy the authentic feeling Spanish kind of coffee and restaurant. And one of the waiters of been there 27 years is always friendly always welcome me. It’s a little bit pricey but always enjoyable and has a find a different feel than many of the other places around the block.
Great food. Nice menu. Good service.
We made reservations through open table 3 days in advance. When we arrived at the restaurant, on time, the only employees in the restaurant were working in the kitchen and were unable to seat us or explain to us why there were no employees on site to facilitate our reservation. 30 minutes later, a server showed up and we had a mediocre experience.
