Agora Taverna - Forest Hills
Food was good, but pricey. Noisy, tables close together. I would recommend it.
Dishes were well executed and the kitchen is efficient in getting them out properly.
The service was lacking and felt like I was being hurried and not appreciated. One of our appetizers and one of the side dishes for our main meal were left out. We had to remind staff about them in order to get them. Given the good dishes, we may try the restaurant again to give the service another chance. What is good food without good service?
Great service. Excellent food. The fish special was great.
Service was friendly and fun. Food was delicious. We were happy!
This restaurant is fantastic, the food was great and so was the ambience. I came upon it one day while shopping on Austin Street. There were so many choices, I chose Mediterranean, I'm glad I did, because I've been back several times since that day. My niece-in-law recently visited on a brief stop over from Hawaii to Trinidad. She wanted to take the family out to dinner so she asked me to recommend a good place to eat. Guess where I recommended?
Excellent Greek cuisine with exceptional service! Staff was very attentive!
Great service! Always great food.
Excellent food. The octopus is the best I have had ever! Service friendly, knowledgeable and efficient. It is our favorite neighborhood place and also great for special occasions.
Agora was a disappointment. Upon entering my husband and I both noticed the beat up furniture, at the very least needing to be repainted. And, though the service was attentive and the food was served promptly, the food was relatively tasteless, the worst being an I toasted English muffin served with the eggs hollandaise. This was for a special occasion and we were disappointed.
A gem in Forest Hills. Good value for your money. The food was good quality. Only advice would be to offer wider variety of sides that come with entrees other than French fries and field greens. Offer heartier sides that are delicious and worthy of the price.
The food was very good although a little pricey for this neighborhood. The service was excellent and the restaurant was quiet so we could converse easily.
Great food and service. Server was very knowledgeable about the menu items. Fresh food and tasty.
A disappointing experience-inconsistent with the reviews. Food “ok” at best. Sole not cooked through; steak was chewy with no flavor.
We have an awesome thanksgiving dinner
The service was very good, the staff was very nice and great service. Thanksgiving brunch was excellent. I will recommend to all my friends
Always great food...atmosphere is good all windows. Service is amazing
I was looking for a place to find grilled octopus and they offer two one as appetizer and one as main I wasn’t disappointed cause was super tender but no too much flavor my appetizer was delicious I had the feta with sesame seeds and cherry tomatoes awesome ! I’ll try something different next time
Always a great meal here. The service is always top notch.
One of the most consistent restaurants in the area and definitely the best in forest hills.
Food was outstanding!! With the special of blue fin tuna with a fantastic salad and my wife’s octopus!! Outstanding. Great job!
Great food & service. Little bit pricey but seasonal.
Great food and service! We would definitely reccomend and return.
I took my best friend here for her birthday celebration the food was good. Pita bread was nice and hot, the rice pilaf was good, calmari was big and tasty.
Food is and was outstanding!! Service was ok but the food!!!! Peter great manager and very generous
Food was good- just what we expected. No menu options for kids though. Food wa great, large portions and authentic.great if your craving greek food.
The food is great, always fresh! However, the wine and drink list needs to be updated. I have not really had one good drink here. The sangria was good last time, but this time was almost all juice and unpleasant to drink. The wines are very sweet and the beer is basic, nothing special.
Great food and service
Agora Taverna has the best crab cake, best octopus and best calamari in the City. Hands down. Everything is fresh and simply prepared with Greek style and hospitality. The owner, Peter, is always around to ensure your dining pleasure. A true neighborhood gem!
Everything was very good except the table service we received- We attended at 3.25pm which was the tail end of Brunch on a Saturday afternoon. Our waitress left us half way through our dining and we were left high and dry after that- I consider myself a very tolerant guest but this was really very frustrating and annoying- The owner was even present and he was completely oblivious- Food 5 out of 5- Bus service 5 out of 5. Value 4 out of 5- Table service 1 out of 5- Avoid the tail end of brunch and you should not have the same problem as we encountered- never the less- I hope the owner reads this post- In addition- they failed to log us "checked in" with OPEN TABLE- and we received a warning about being dropped (received direct from Open Table for a "no-show")
I have dined here many times, and it is always a great dinner. The fish is always fresh and well seasoned.
Like a brief trip to the Greek isles. Wonderful.
We had the fried calamari, salad with feta cheese and assorted dips for appetizers. They were all very good. The fried calamari was lightly battered and came out piping hot and they replenished the pita bread for the dips without us asking.
The entree choices were the assorted meat platter, swordfish, seafood pasta and crabcake. The mussels in the seafood pasta were huge and the crabcake was perfect.
The wait staff was professional and friendly.
We only wished they didn't open the doors/windows and turned down the air conditioning. Overall, we had an enjoyable dinner and would come back and would recommend the restaurant to friends and family.
excellent service and ambiance. My friend and I were able to catch up and be rushed This was a thnak you meal to my friend and I am so happy she enjoyed her food Food was excellent Chicken kabob was plentiful and when I brought the leftovers home my daughter raved about the chicken. Thank you
Never a disappointment when dining here. The food is delish! The Greek spreads are fantastic, extra pita is needed but always available. The grilled octopus is amazing and cooked perfectly every time I order it! Outside seating is great for people watching. Will continue to be my go to spot for great Greek cuisine
Just your average Greek restaurant. Maybe I am jaded but I can name 15 better Greek restaurants. With that being said, it’s very good just not great.
Great as always! My wife have been going there for a year and a 1/2. It has never disappointed.
How can a restaurant that calls itself a tavern not have any taps and only serve bottled beer from the major distributors? Pleasant service, run down and dirty environment.
Father's Day- the food was good, maybe not as good as when we've been before; service was fair; atmosphere ok. Not as special as before, prices are pretty high.
The place was packed and the service was friendly but slow. The food while not bad, was neither authentic nor very tasty.
we have been here several times and always enjoy the food and service. very friendly staff and great greek fish dishes.
Knowing we would be in the area for an event at Forest Hills Stadium on Father's Day, I made a reservation about a week in advance. Had to change reservation ahead of time from a smaller to a larger group. Restaurant was very accommodating and confirmed that they would be able to manage our group (of 7) and to have us served promptly to be ready to get out in time for the show. Arrived a bit early and the table was ready for us. The host offered to hold the table until all of our guests arrived or to seat us immediately, depending on our preference. Could not have been more accommodating. Service was excellent and the pace was not rushed, yet very capable and got us out in time for the show. Dining options were varied enough for everyone's tastes, from salads and appetizers to meat and fish. Would love to return, perhaps to try the brunch menu. Noise factor is a concern with large groups and holidays but would consider scheduling a meal at a quieter time or with smaller group. Highly recommend Agora Taverna.
