About Agora Churrascaria
Agora Churrascaria is a Brazilian Steak House in the "Rodizio" style, where waiters, dressed as Gauchos (local ranchers from the South), move from table to table carrying skewers of meat, from which they slice portions for their guests. Agora serves 12 different cuts of meat, including beef, pork, lamb and chicken. The restaurant prepares each cut as it has been for centuries: seasoned with rock salt to accent the individual tastes of each cut, and slow-roasted over an open flame. Upon being seated, every guest is given a green and red-sided circular chip to control their fixed price, continuous tableside service. The green side signals the Gaucho to "bring it on," while the red side stops the service. For additional servings, guests simply flip the indicator back to the green side. In addition to the succulent meat selections, Agora offers an outstanding hot and cold salad bar, comprised of Brazilian and seafood specialties as well as a variety of tempting side dishes.

Agora Churrascaria Ratings and Reviews
1st time here and from the time we arrived was made to feel really welcomed. Our waitress was very nce and asked if we had been there before. I told her this was my first time (my wife had been there before) and she was really attentive and explained their setup. Our water glass was never empty, the meats came around frequently and one of the servers even asked if there was a specific meat we wanted to try. A restaurant employee (think the mgr on duty) even came by during our dinner and asked how was everything. Overall. Had a great experience and would def come back!
We tried Agora Churrascaria for the frist time for Valentine's Day; after hearing so many positive reviews. The holiday menu/prices were not a worth it, suggest eating there on non-holidays. The buffett items were good, however nothing to special. Obviously, you go to Agora Churrascaria for the meats; the meats were as good as advertised. For meat lovers, go light on the buffett items and enjoy the great variety of meats served table side by the gauchos. Fair warning, show up hungry as you will want to sample every meat option - several times!
I have been trying to get to this restaurant for some time, but with family and work, we never had the time. I decided to make reservations for Valentine's day. Yes I know it's the busiest time of the year for restaurants. So I knew what to expect. When we showed up to our reservation there were alot of people waiting. We checked in and went to the bar to grab a drink. We were finally called 10 minutes after our reservation time, which were arrived 15 min early. Yes that's 25 min waiting to be seated. We sat in our table and waited for someone to wait on us. Finally I flagged someone and she got our waitress for us. We ordered the champagne that came with our set menu and I ordered a glass of wine to accompany my dinner. Which I never got. The meats were amazing but it took the gauchos a really long time to pass by. I think a restaurant like this should be prepared to handle a busy work load. I don't think there is an excuse for mediocre service. The ambience was good. But I wouldn't come back. Maybe my expectation was too high. I expect to get what I order and some attention from our waiter/waitress to see if we are taken care of.
The service was horrible. We literally sat at our table for over half an hour without ever being served anything. Our waiter never bothered to ask if we wanted anything else to drink (which we did) - nobody came back with any meats just absolutely nothing. Waiter took him 20 minutes to bring a stock dessert (it was pre served flan) and then 15 more just for the check. Service started fine then we were totally ignored for the rest of the evening. Would NOT recommend
This is a GREAT Churascaria!!! I have always enjoyed eating here. I recently ate at one of their competitors and was very disappointed. We dined here on Saint Valentines Day. Yet the restaurant was able to keep up with the full restaurant. The food bar was great as usual. I enjoy the Feijoada, smoked salmon, etc. The meats were plentiful, cooked to perfection and tasted FANTASTIC!!!!
Food is always excellent. Only this time around our waiter was not so great. Had to wait 15 minutes for him to come and get our drink order. He forgot my refill. I asked for a certain meat. It never came. Even when I asked him again. Until I asked someone else and it was brought to us.
2nd time in this restaurant. that's really it. i don't know if we come at a bad time or they really didn't have meat. we were only served tri tip the whole night and lamb. takes 20 minutes interval to serve the meat. that's it. the whole night we were just eating fish, salad and rice.
This was our first time here and we will definitely be back. Our experience from beginning to end was great. Our server was great . She explained to us how the dining would go and offered us a cocktail or water to start. Her friendly personality was so enjoyable. The table staff was great with making sure we had a clean plate , fresh water, and anything else we may need. The gauchos were very friendly and the food choices exceeded our expectations and quality and taste of the meat choices were delicious. The cocktails were well made and the pricing was good too. Can't wait to return back again.
Ambiance is none existing during my visit. There was no dress code and too many families with small children, crying and screaming.
Not the portrait Ambiance as on the video advertising. Many guests would walk in with sandals, dirty clothing as if just getting off work from construction for the day and noticed quite a bit of people with not appropriate clothing, i.e. torn t-shirts, old shorts, and in some cases appearances of no personal hygiene. My visit with family resulted in well over 400.00, which in my opinion does not fit the Ambiance Standards at the location. Wish you best of luck in continuing business.
My wife and I visited on 1/22/18 to celebrate our anniversary - just the two of us. It had been a while since we were last at Agora - at least 3 years. We were greeted by a friendly hostess who showed us to our table. Not long after we placed a drink order and soon our waitress came by to inquire if we'd been there previously or if we needed a refresher on how dining at the restaurant goes. Shortly, the attentive wait staff brought us their "famous cheese bread" which was not good at all.
First we visited the salad bar - which was great. Lots of selections, very nicely prepared and presented fresh foods. Then, came the main course. The selection of side dishes was woefully lacking. They offered red potatoes, mashed potatoes, mussels, salmon, garlic rice, collard greens, black bean stew and chicken stroganoff. None of these foods were particularly tasty. The collard greens were downright terrible. Why, for over $50 a plate, don't they offer good vegetables?
The main reason one goes to a Brazilian BBQ is for the meats. There is a selection of 14 different meat choices . We sampled about half their offerings and were not impressed with ANY of them. The meats were obviously not USDA Prime selections. Instead, they were lower grade meats - and they tasted it. Tough filet medallions, dry chicken and pork ribs with absolutely no flavor left us commenting to each other how good the salad bar was. That's not saying much for a venue that's supposed to draw it's patrons with their meats.
At the reception counter there was a sign "Proper Attire Required". We have no Idea why that sign is there nor how the management interprets it. We were dressed nicely with smart casual attire while others wore blue jeans with holes in them, company T-shirts with silkscreened images over them, sandals, etc. It's as if anything goes when dining out in Irvine these days. Needless to say, it will be a LONG time before we will pay another visit to Agora Churrascarria.
The food and service at Agora is OUTSTANDING! This is a meat eaters paradise! I personally go “to get my lamb chops on” (yes, they have mint jelly!) but steak lovers are thrilled with the vast selection and delicious quality of all the meats! It feels like you have your own personal wait staff and they see (and are very attentive) to your every need! It is a little pricey, but after just “average” steak houses, it is worth the price on all levels! You MUST go hungry and “pace” yourself to get the most from this wonderful dining experience! Go easy on the buffet items, try everything and then go back to your favorites and indulge yourself! Really excellent, enjoyable and fun! I would leave the kids at home, as they won’t eat enough to make the price reasonable.....Nice wine list and full bar as well!
Great choice for a special occasion. The manager is really nice and personable and visits diners’ tables throughout your meal. A guaranteed great time! Can’t wait to go back! * 5 stars +
