About Agora Churrascaria
Agora Churrascaria is a Brazilian Steak House in the "Rodizio" style, where waiters, dressed as Gauchos (local ranchers from the South), move from table to table carrying skewers of meat, from which they slice portions for their guests. Agora serves 12 different cuts of meat, including beef, pork, lamb and chicken. The restaurant prepares each cut as it has been for centuries: seasoned with rock salt to accent the individual tastes of each cut, and slow-roasted over an open flame. Upon being seated, every guest is given a green and red-sided circular chip to control their fixed price, continuous tableside service. The green side signals the Gaucho to "bring it on," while the red side stops the service. For additional servings, guests simply flip the indicator back to the green side. In addition to the succulent meat selections, Agora offers an outstanding hot and cold salad bar, comprised of Brazilian and seafood specialties as well as a variety of tempting side dishes.

Agora Churrascaria Ratings and Reviews
The buffet was well-provisioned and the standard churrascaria banana, cheese balls and red/green card were in place. The white table cloth ambiance was nice and also expected based on food and drink pricing. My normal experience at most Churrascaria restaurants is that the meat swords come by so often that I frequently have to flip my card to red because too much food is on my plate. This was not my birthday experience on this visit. After 20 minutes of buffet we were ready for meat and the only meat we saw was being served on the other side of the restaurant. Finally after a long wait, sausage and chicken showed up. I passed on both. At least my parents had something to eat. After 20 min more we finally spoke with sever to explain that we had not seen any beef come by to us and the adjacent tables, some pichana fianlly showed up followed up by bacon wrapped beef. The bacon wrapped beef was very mediocre. The pichana was delicious and perfectly cooked. Overall, this last visit was disappointing 80% due to being ignored. The server was very nice and cordial and the desserts were exceptional and beautiful. The texture of the flan was perfect. I cannot comfortably recommend this restaurant to friends based on this last visit. When I was there last year I did not experience this. Maybe this was a one time issue due to it being labor day.
We have been here several times for many different occasions. For this celebration (birthday and anniversary), we made a specific table request which was confirmed, and acknowledged, twice. When we arrived, our requested table was not available, and it was treated as if it was no big deal. One of the people in our party had a broken, casted, foot (which was one of the main reasons we requested the table we did as it is close to salad bar). So not only was the requested, and confirmed, table not available, we were sat as far from the salad bar as possible. Not one attempt was made to rectify the inconvenience. One other negative: one of the Gauchos was rude to us at least twice. On a positive note, our waiters were awesome, as were their assistants (bus staff). As much as we love the food, we will be looking for a different special occasion restaurant - this experience left a very negative impact. I'll take my $400 and spend it elsewhere.
(I brought my sister to this restaurant for her birthday), once seated, it took a long while for us to be acknowledged (keep in mind, the restaurant was not busy), after becoming tired of waiting we finally had to ask other waiters if someone could please help us, that's when our waitress final came over.
While taking our drink orders our waitress was leaning against an adjacent table with one hand to her hip & answered us with "ah, Oh yeah, eemhmm, you got it" type answers, no customer service responses as "Hello Sir or yes Sir," her customer service dialog was unprofessional for an eating establishment of this type. After taking our drinks order she was told it was my sisters birthday, she responded with "the complimentary birthday desert is "Flan" with a flat tone.
Once we began eating it was the same scenario throughout our entire dinner, constantly asking where our waitress was & asking other waiters for drink refills or whatever else we needed, when our waitress would come around she appeared to look as if we were the ones bothering her, we did not feel welcomed as guests to the restaurant whatsoever.
When we finished our dinner, our waitress had come to our table with our bill in her hand & was about to give it to me, I put my hand up in a "hold on there just a moment" posture & asked my family if any of them wanted desert (she only then offered us desert because we had brought it up, she had no intention of offering it herself), this is when she appeared to get annoyed again. She kept pushing the Flan desert over & over, it got to the point where I firmly answered her & said no & demanded to see a desert menu. I have no idea if she was annoyed this night because of something personal or if it was because of us, my sister stated she appreciated me taking her to this restaurant but asked I never bring her there ever again if this was the type of service being given, I could see it in her eyes her surprise birthday dinner had been ruined
My only issue was that the web-site stated that the dress code/requirement was business casual. Upon being seated I noticed patrons in shorts, T-shirts, sandals, crocs, etc. I would have much preferred to have dressed in a manner I like - 5.11 Khakis and a T-shirt with hiking shoes. Thanks.
I headed to agora as I had good experiences in the past and hadn't been there in a while as I had found a new Churascaria that I really enjoyed.
This new place was closed so we figured we'd give agora another try.
I am not sure if the new place is just that much better but we were highly disappointed in the flavor and quality of the food. Underdone, under seasoned and not all flavored with Brazilian seasonings and spices.
I will not be back.
Superb beef quality at a competitive price, all steak cuts cooked to perfection of preference and all showed their genuine and distinctive flavors. The all time favorite Top Sirloin is highly recommended, but all from filet mignon tenderloins to lamb tender cuts, passing through trip tip, flap steak (arrechera in Spanish) are wonderful tasting. For those with more exotic taste there are chicken hearts and others, definitely a "Must go" and worth the drive from "wherever you are" in SoCal.
