Agave Mexican Bistro Ratings and Reviews
Food was not that good, and service was pretty bad. We had to ask twice for our check. It was a slow night, and all four servers seemed more interested in socializing in the corner than attending to their tables. Fish Tacos were not good, flan was pretty good.
We were enticed to Agave after reviewing their menu, and noticing many unique menu selections. My wife is a shrimp lover, and was able to taste something very new and unique in the "Camerones Ardientes", which she loved. I am a freak for "Enjococado" which I have had a a sister restaurant, and always order as it is so good. I was convinced to try something new in the "Cochonito Pibil" a traditional Yucatan pork stew simmered in achiote. I was not disappointed.
Service was just as impressive as the food. A great find and we look forward to future trips.
My wife and I are thrilled that so much of what we loved over the years at Fiesta Del Mar is living on at Agave. The friendly waiters, great food (mole and guajillo sauces) and good drinks will bring us back on a frequent basis. We also love the queso fundido!
The food was great and exactly what you would expect from this restaurant group. Best chips and salsa around. Unfortunately, our first server was lousy. It took a long time for him to check in on us so we ended up ordering our drinks at the same time we ordered the food. Even though our waiter was still in our general area, another server dropped off the food before we had our drinks. I think the guy that took our order totally forgot about us. The second server was able to get our drinks quickly, but it was very disappointing. Chips and salsa just don't taste right without a margarita!
Started at the bar with great drinks and talented bartender. Moved outside and we're able to satisfy a vegetarian, a meat liver, and so eine alerguc to onion and garlic. Food was fantastuc, custom ordered, and all with a smile. Great sense of humor in our waiter. Incredible coffee afterward. Great safe bet for an incredible time
Had a pretty pleasant time at Agave. I was craving fish tacos, and they totally delivered. The service was ever-so-slightly slow (just in the waiting for the check after plates had been cleared, food & drink was prompt). Overall good experience; I'll be back.
The atmosphere is fun and casual. The outside patio is great on a warm evening.
The margarita list is long and can be tough to choose your drink since they all sound good. I've tried several and have not been disappointed.
Fish tacos and mole poblano are my favorites.
Friendly and attentive staff make this a great place!
Three of us were seated in the outdoor dining area. Since It was a very nice afternoon, We really enjoyed the patio. Our waitress was nice but a little overwhelmed. The margarita was weak but the guacamole and chips and salsa were good. We ordered shrimp enchiladas which was not very tasty, just ok. I might go back just for outside seating and chips and salsa next time but the food was nothing to crave again.
Good food, with an unusual choice: shrimp with huitlacoche, a corn fungus, sometimes called Mexican truffle. It's tasty, although more like a mushroom than a truffle. They also have a good tequila list and very good margaritas. Service was prompt and cheerful.
I appreciated the interesting dishes on the menu and had a really hard time deciding what to order. When I did decide, I was really pleased with my entree, and so was my husband with his, but I wasn't really wowed. Drinks were yummy, chips too salty. If you're on Castro and need some Mexican food, this place will certainly fit the bill, but I don't think I'll be back.
We've eaten at their Fiesta Del Mar location and wanted to try something upmarket. This location has a better ambience and a more eclectic menu but the service was poor. It was hard to get the attention of the waitstaff and they brought the last person's entree when the rest of our party of 6 were halfway through eating ours.
The food and drinks were good enough. I enjoyed the meal with my date.
The service was fast and friendly.
However, the food and drinks were very expensive. It is not a fancy restaurant, yet dinner for two people came to $80.
Can't recommend because of the prices
