The food was delicious and we got out in plenty of time to make our performance. The wait staff was very friendly.
We tried out a new restaurant called Agave Cocina in West Seattle this evening and the experience was could not have been worse. The Bartender was rude, made no eye contact and had to be asked many times for the check. We then moved to another area awaiting our dining table which we were told would be ready 45 minutes earlier but never came up for seating. The experience worsened substantially when one of the patrons began yelling four-letter words at one of the guests in our party because he overheard her saying something he disagreed with. The man and his partner were violently belligerent and we asked the hostess to call the Police but she just seemed flummoxed and frightened so all eight members of our party left. I have never seen a customer behave as despicable as this man and his partner did, not ever since I moved to Seattle 25 years ago. Our entire party left to go to Elliott Bay Brewery because the guest and his partner's behaviour was neither addressed or controlled by the management. Two other really negative items about this restaurant: Our table was presented with a check 20-minutes before our cocktails even arrived. Nothing had been delivered to our table when the waiter rudely slapped a bill down with no explanation or cocktails--just a bill for no product. An escalation to the Manager resulted in a nervous, half-hearted apology. I have never experienced such a lack of courtesy or professionalism since moving to Seattle over a quarter of a century ago. I cannot caution enough about how terrible our group's experience was at Agave Cocina. I would strongly recommend reading other reviews about this restaurant before attempting to visit Agave Cocina.
The food was ok, the drinks were ok, but the service was awful. We felt so rushed and when we need more drinks or food, no one was to be found.
This is a regular go-to restaurant for pre-theater. The food is always good, well-prepared and nicely presented. Short but reasonable wine list, good draft beers and margaritas are tasty--and substantial! Service was very good, attentive without hovering.
I always enjoy a visit to Agave for their delicious Mexican food and a pleasant dinning experience.
Food was excellent but service was really poor that evening.
Our table was in an awkward space in the middle of the aisle so we felt very cramped when people would walk by. When we ordered a second round of drinks, the server never removed our empty glasses from the first round. There were 4 of us so a total of 12 glasses (4 for water) on the table at one time. I had a chicken burrito and, while the flavor was fine (nothing to write home about), it was lukewarm. I doubt I'll be back soon, even though I live in the neighborhood.
Dined here on a recent trip to Seattle... and honestly almost went back the next day for lunch. The food was excellent and the service of top notch. We both really enjoyed the calamari appetizer and the duck street tacos.
I have loved Agave for a long time and go there fairly regularly. This is the first time my two 20-somthing daughters joined me and they loved it, too. We all agree the food is delicious, there's a great selection, service was warm and efficient, and marguerite was perfect. I tried the chicken poblano this time and it was super yummy, though I wouldn't recommend it to anyone dieting. It's rich!
Great food in a nice setting, but can get noisy making conversation a bit of a challenge. Good service without hovering.
My family and I dropped in for lunch on March 15 2017, mid afternoon. We were seated immediately and drink order taken within a few minutes. My wife loved the plum Margherita. My son and I had the Carne Asada. Not sure why the server asked us how we liked the steak cooked as it's too thin to matter. It was very good, add was the rest of the meal. I loved the coconut fried ice cream.
My 3 stars for overall rating is because the food was good and the restaurant was relatively quiet. However, service is very very slow. We waited at least 10 minutes before the waitress came over and asked what we wanted. When our tortilla chips basket was empty she asked if we wanted more we said yes, but they didn't arrive until our brunch was half consumed, 30 minutes after we were asked if we wanted more tortilla chips. We sent them back, very bad service.
This place is convenient for pre-theatre/opera dinner. Lots of options. I had the battered halibut tacos which were flavorful, spicy, and light. My husband couldn't decide between steak or pork tacos so the server suggested splitting the order and getting one of each. Great idea! We liked having ability to forgo the rice and beans. Lively, fun atmosphere.
Came here on a date and had a great time. The staff was very friendly and prompt, and the food was delicious. We are taco people, and so ordered them, and were not disappointed. The setting is dim so its a nice intimate setting, and perfect if you're trying to class up a bit from your normal taco joint. Looking forward to coming here again and trying out some of their drinks.
The food was delicious. and we had great Service. Excellent waitress.
Came here for my husbands birthday. The food was amazing, the hand made margaritas were perfection and the service was great!! You must get the ceviche & bacon wrapped jalapeños!! We will be back for sure!
Excellent food. Quick service (if there is a time constraint). Pleasant help.
Service and food was great! The jalapeño cheese dip needed more flavor so we just poured our green salsa into it, added some salt and pepper & it was perfect! The street lamp outside was a distraction because it was bright white light that kept turning on then off every few minutes. Overall, good place to eat casually
Food was quite good, even though the restaurant was full we could still have a good conversation. Nice place.
I'm at Agave approximately once a week! Love dinner, love happy hour, love margaritas!
Service took 30 minutes to show up to take orders and then another 30 minutes to bring cold food. When we complained and sent it back, the server returned with it in 30 seconds and we were told that fajitas now come cold in a cold pan.
The manager just looked puzzled and walked away when we complained. Then we got up to pay and leave and the cashier to us we didn't have to pay for the cold fajitas we couldn't eat but billed us for our drink and chips. We won't be going here again. We went to our play hungry.
Great location for dinner before going to Seattle Rep.
We booked Cocina as is was right around the corner from the theater. As weather gets in December in the PNW we wanted something we weren't going to have to walk forever in case of rain.
Great atmosphere and amazingly attentive wait staff, slightly loud but you could still have a conversation. Food was delicious Mexican with a flair of their own. We had the bacon wrapped jalapeños for an appetizer and they were amazing. The sweet pineapple sauce they top them with combined with the saltiness of the bacon and the heat of the pepper was like a party of flavor in your mouth!
For dinner we had the Carne Asada and the chicken poblano. Both were delectable.
Drink wise I had the persado mule. Being a fan of standard Moscow mules this was a great twist. The wife had a traditional Margherita and it also was great.
All in all I'd say check this place out. We got out of there right around $100 with tip. So not expensive either.
Creative take on Mexican/Southwest cuisine. Their seafood salad was excellent. The chille relleno with 4 cheeses and scallops/prawns was delicious. We've eaten there several times and try a different dish every time. Tasty selection of street tacos with their own homemade tortillas. Happy hour menu is good, but is only available if you eat in the bar & the bar area is fairly small.
Very convenient to Seattle Center. Sort of a young, hip environment. Drawback is that seating area in the dining room can be tight, especially if there are a lot of people eating.
Violet is a great server. Good food and good prices.
Agave Cocina is a perfect place to go before the theater or any event at Seattle Center. While it is Mexican food, it is light and fresh and very tasty. The sweet potato fries were fabulous. I will defintely go back.
Brunch was excellent! We made reservations for 10am, and there was only one other table full.
It was really great- got seated right away, beautiful building, delicious food!!
Very disappointed. This place has such potential...
1. Put some candles on the tables so customers can read the menu and see the food.
2. Coach staff on dropping the attitude. Just try to be nice and do your job. Chitchating about customers or other staff is unacceptable.
3. Share with management that scowling looks bad and constantly reprimanding employees also contributes to a poor experience.
4. Getting orders correct is also a plus.
Best salsa in Seattle!
Great place to have dinner before or after a movie or Seattle Center Event.
Efficient service and food, but uninspiring. It ain't no Topolobampo or Frontera.
A great place to grab dinner before going to the opera or Seattle Rep. Lots of different options, so it works out well when there are four of us. It's a creative take on Mexican/Southwest food. Our waitress was friendly and our meals were served quickly.
I've been to Agave several times, generally for late lunch or happy hour. While I can understand servers forgetting things or getting things wrong or not checking on us when it's busy, like happy hour, I find it hard to excuse when we are 1 of 4 tables in the restaurant. I will recommend it to people but with the caveat not not expect great service.
Menu offers good selection of small plates & entrees, could be bit stronger on salads. Noticed that my prawn entree mentioned slaw, but it was a very minimal amount. Overall, pleasant meal & ambience.
Ordered from the special item menu, a quesadilla plus the grilled halibut tacos. Both I give negative feedback. The halibut was nil if any in the small tortilla and the fish was so flat and tasteless, could not tell I had any. The special tortilla entree was a rip off. Two tiny tortillas folded over with very little inside. Not a meal whatsoever and terribly expensive for the portion. I recommend stick with the enchilada.
Nice local place next to the Space Needle with great Mex food and drink.
