Agami Contemporary Sushi Ratings and Reviews
The food was delicious but our server was very slow & we finally had to cancel our 2nd round of drinks as we needed to make the show at the Uptown Underground. Finally after what seemed like an eternity the bill csme but we were charged for the 2nd round of drinks We complained and a corrected bill arrived leaving us just enough time to get to the show.
Great service, great food. When we made the reservation, we said it was for a birthday dinner prior to a magic show across the road. Our waitress made sure to bring our food in a timely manner so that we did not miss any of the show (we were cutting it close time wise). Additionally, they took a picture of us when they brought out he surprise birthday treat. After a great meal they sent us on our way with a framed memory. Will most certainly return.
As usual, this sushi restaurant serves the finest, freshest fish, ensuring delicious, beautifully creative, succulent dishes that never disappoint. Judy and her staff always deliver top notch service providing a wonderful dining experience. They always add that final personal and special touch. This has always been one of my most favorite Chicago restaurants.
My S.O. and I went early - 6:30 - on a Friday night. There were only a few tables occupied. The two of us sat on a comfy semi-circular bench - nice to sit next to each other. The Men in Black roll was exceptional, the Green Dragon was good. My mackerel nigiri was too cold and was fishier tasting than the best I've had. We finished with the fried calamari and were surprised that it was much more Italian than expected, but it was very good. Service was just right - the waitress wasn't harried and took the time to chat with us.
Been there many times before. After last night with a carry out experience overpriced mediocrity restaurant with no customer service. I have allergies and I can not eat onions. The same meal I get in restaurant was different with onions. After a 50 dollar carryout for 2. They could only say not trying to be rude. Stay away from agami
I noted on our Open Table reservation that we would be celebrating my daughter's birthday. When we arrived, our booth had a "Happy Birthday" sign already hanging. At the end of dinner, our server took a picture of our group and gave it to us in a frame as a souvenir. Our food was absolutely delicious. Everyone enjoyed their appetizer and dinner. The staff was friendly, engaging, and helpful.
Had to wait 30 mins before ordering drinks and ordering two appetizers then another 30 mins to get those drinks and one of the two apps and to order sushi. After another 45 mins we got one of the four rolls we ordered. We ended up cancelling the rest of our order, paying the bill and going somewhere else to eat.
Not sure if this place has changed ownership, but the quality and the freshness of the food is really lacking. I use to eat here often, mostly by take out, and I took a friend here on Monday and the food was nothing like it was before and a lot of changes have been made to the menu... and not for the better. Unfortunately, I do not plan on returning to this restaurant especially when there are so many good sushi restaurants in Chicago.
I was more than impressed with this restaurant. I'm not really into sushi but my date was, so I picked this place, because we were going to the magic show right across the street. OMG! I LOVED this place. The sushi was amazing! I am a vegetarian and they had a couple of veggie rolls that were the best I ever had. I haven't stopped thinking about going back.
I've come here many times for the modern lounge vibe and the sushi is always amazing. They have both traditional and unique rolls as well as other dishes. We tried the lobster miso and pork belly kimchi buns this time, both were delicious. I love that their martini list has several options for those who don't like them sweet and "girly" even my boyfriend opted for one.
The wait staff is attentive, knowledgeable, and when they learned we were there to celebrate a birthday they even took our picture on their camera and gave it to us in a small frame.
This place is worthy to be operating in the gold Coast or old town somewhere, it's truly a gem in its current location.
