AG at The Sterling Ratings and Reviews
I found it a bit odd at first that the restaurant was located downstairs (no windows) but, after being seated by one of the delightful staff and taking in the stylish decor, that was quickly forgotten. Our waitress gave us a quick explanation of the restaurant's farm-to-table ethos and the local delights featured on the menu.
The cocktails we ordered (Manhattan, Caesar) were the best we'd had in ages. The appetizers (AG Farm Tender Leaves Salad, Garlic and Parsley Creamed Escargot) were exceptional; the ingredients used were fresh and vibrant. Both entrées (Fennel Pollen Roasted Arctic Char, Mulled Cider Glazed Loin of Venison) were delicious. The sweet potato gnocchi was fantastically light and pillowy! The pot pie, however, left something to be desired. The pastry was dry and on the salty side, and not flaky as I had expected. The dessert menu was very appealing though we did not order any.
The live music that began partway through our meal was lovely. It was not so loud that we couldn't continue conversing, though we both were too occupied by our delicious dishes!
The staff were all friendly, good-humoured, and seemed to genuinely enjoy their work. Great atmosphere. Fantastic food. We would highly recommend AG Cuisine to anyone visiting Niagara and looking for an exceptional dining experience. I hope to dine here if we visit the Falls again!
Very good food and very good ambiance. The price is quite expensive for food, but the quality of the food is excellent. Great for special occasions and such. The bar menu should be improved a bit and the cocktails need to be made with less ice, as it seemed a little watered down. Or maybe use bigger ice cubes, would be better. Overall, very good, and the criticisms are very nit-picky. Would definitely recommend.
It was our second time here. Their tasting menu has been pared down to three courses. I believe it used to be 4 or even 5. Too bad because from what we remember that pairing menu was amazing.
We ordered off the a l carte menu. Ordered the charcuterie board to start. No cheeses or crackers, just meats and jams/jellies. It was ok.
The mains were the scallops and the sirloin. Only 3 scallops and some broccoli sprinkled with some couscous. The spiced sauce for the scallops didn't really help much. They were, however, well cooked.
The sirloin was perfectly cooked and tender. The potato rosti underneath was quite soggy but flavourful since it sat on top of the au jus and under the sirloin.
The chocolate and espresso creme brûlée was different and quite nice.
The menu is always changing so you can't rely on what's posted here on OpenTable.
We'll be back to see what's new.
A great place for a quiet dinner, delicious food and wine, and outstanding service. Our waitress was attentive, a well-spoken and a clear communicator with fantastic knowledge of the products, a calming presence, great suggestions, and made the experience memorable.
Service was impeccable. Our servers were professional, courteous and gave us wonderful recommendations.
We dined on a Thursday and took part on the “date night” special. We selected the half hen and upgraded to the tenderloin.
Both appetizers were exquisite, food was hot and full of flavour. We had the Bavarian cream for dessert and it was just the right finishing touch to our comforting meal.
Kelly and Erika (our apologies if I have misspelled your names) were so wonderful.
We were there in the off-season in November, and while a bit chilly and windy outside, it set a lovely atmosphere in the warm and cozy restaurant.
Our server was so nice and knowledgeable about the area. We were the first to arrive when the doors opened for lunch so we got a great view of the falls. The food was okay. I'm guessing in relationship to temperature, They're "medium"is a little more on the well done side so the meat was a little over cooked for my liking. The vegetables were very bland. Was on a schedule so didn't send it back. The spinach dip was so creamy and tasty. Overall a nice place to stop for lunch.
Ordered Risotto which was suppose to have sirloin beef tips in it. The risotto was tasty but the beef in it was inedible, pure grizzle. I think they put scraps in, informed waitress but kitchen said that it was the end of the beef so that is what you get. Very disappointed.
I have had excellent meals in some of the best foodie cities in the world. We hunt down amazing dives frequently and treat ourselves to special restaurants a few times a year. I have not had such an excellent dining experience in quite some time. It's pretty amazing to take a bite of something and just stop and say "wow". I did that 3 times during this meal. From local ingredients, to wonderful service and a lovely atmosphere, AG is the whole experience.
My sisters and I brought my Mom (who lives in Oregon) to Niagara Falls to celebrate her 70th birthday. I chose this restaurant for quality of food, farm-to-table approach, and ambiance based on its excellent reviews (we chose another restaurant on our second evening in town for views of the Falls, which this restaurant does not have, being in a basement of a somewhat out-of-the-way hotel). The experience including food and service did not disappoint. Our table was tucked away, and though we could see other diners we could not hear them. The seating and atmosphere was very cozy. We started the meal with handcrafted cocktails from an offering of options that were mostly very sweet, but our choices (AG's version of an Old Fashioned and a Cosmo) were good. For starters, three of us had the tender leaf salad with the most amazing goat cheese I've ever had, and one person had the tomato bisque, which was peppery, flavored with bacon (?) and delicious. Our entrees were the scallops, beef tips risotto and the filet, with the filet being my favorite. All were very good. The sommelier, whom we called to our table for suggestions, was extremely helpful and knowledgeable about local wines -- highly recommend asking for his advice (cannot remember his name - sorry!). All of us had dessert, I ordered the white chocolate creme bruleee and did NOT share. It was delicious. All in all, we were delighted with the meal, and my Mom was one happy lady. Highly recommend.
This was one of the best restaurants I’ve ever been to! Everything was absolutely wonderful. The food was so delicious and the service was excellent! I can not stress enough how great the food was. And it was very fairly priced, especially for being in Niagara Falls where most restaurants are severely overpriced. This restaurant is an absolute hidden gem! A must try if visiting the falls!
I agree with other reviewers that the location of this restaurant is a bit suspect - located in the lower level of a very unassuming small hotel. But once beyond that vibe, it was a very pleasant experience with professional service and fantastic food. It really is about the food! The BLT bisque and lunchbox peppers were both great appetizers that we shared. Our four entrees were the lamb, heirloom tomato and fennel risotto (ultimate foodie comfort food), the scallops and the beef tenderloin. All were excellent entrees. While we didn't think we had enough room for dessert, we managed to demolish a seasonal one with crème and caramel that was a bit uninspired, but the gelato was to die for. Order the gelato!
Wonderful experience with amazing food and live music. We had two appetizers and two entrees along with 1 dessert and 1 after dinner drink. Also, enjoyed a meal pairing drink bill was only $170 tip not included. If you're looking for a romantic night out this is the place.
