It was all good. The staff are so nice and friendly. The place was really attractive and beautiful. Love the music as well! The food is great! Everything was great during our date! Highly recommended.
The atmosphere was amazing, the piano player was sensational (and unobtrusive), and the tea was simply fantastic. The scones were just like we’ve had in England and the mini sandwiches were very good. Tea at The Phoenician was definitely worth it.
I did not find the new chairs and tables comfortable at all. In fact my mom & I have been coming to tea for years and I'm not so sure we will anymore. It was VERY uncomfortable. Not worth it to pay that $ & be uncomfortable.
Had a special afternoon with my sister visiting from out of town. Our hostess was super sweet and nice.
This tea is the best tea I’ve ever been too. The little sandwiches are phenomenal followed by the scone course. The desserts are good too if there’s any room left especially the shortbread. And the setting is so peaceful and relaxing.
Way overpriced for what you get. We had far better for less at the Beverly Hills Hotel. The 22.5% forced gratuity on top for so-so service was an insult. Make your folks earn your tip Phoenician! Pretty pretentious in my book. Definitely not worth returning.
Always love tea at the Phoenician! Awesome experience!
Service makes this place, especially Wanda. Tea, food & bubbly are great. Nice that Tea is back in the lobby but new setting quite a bit noisier. Still a fun place for special occasions!
Food is tired, unoriginal, same old same old for years. Servers talk too fast because they've been there too long and are also bored?! TIP: Don't fill teapot up to the top to leave room for HOT WATER refills. Not even a Phoenician camel can drink that much tea at once. The tea becomes cold way too fast. Also, I've seen every guest struggle with the totally full teapot. Amazed you haven't had more accidents or complaints. As a 30 year valley resident, I've been to afternoon tea here at least two dozen times. It's great for out-of-owners or people who will only go ONCE. For the year-round foodie resident who is willing to pay for a great experience, I think it's time to update and renovate!
What brings us back to Afternoon Tea at the Phoenician 4 or 5 times a year? Is it the lovely new tea room away from the busy lobby? Is it the beautifully prepared sandwiches, scones, desserts, and tea service? Is it the background music that sets the mood from the grand piano? Yes, it is all of these things.....but, we would have much less pleasure without Natalie and Wanda warmly greeting us and treating us like family. It is the relationship with the people that we enjoy and will always treasure. Thanks ladies!
Afternoon here was so wonderful! The hotel is beautiful and the staff was so friendly. The food was so good as was the tea. They made accommodations for my young daughter which included ham and cheese as well as turkey and cheese sandwiches for her. Everyone including the other guest were nice and friendly!
A lovely afternoon. My 92 yr old mother and 4 granddaughter s loved the service, ambiance, and the food. Felt pampered and our 2nd time there. Will definitely come again 😍
Afternoon tea at the Phoenician was a lovely way to celebrate Valentines Day. Sandwiches were delightful and so we the desserts.
Small quibbles. Loud with piano ( admittedly excellent) player and echoing room acoustics. Price points are not a value, and a 22% 'service fee' is added, with the tip line left open for additional compensation to a well coordinated staff. Competent tasty (if not over the top) food. Great 'impress a date' location if your platinum card can take the hit...
Exceptional as always!! Wanda and Natalie are AMAZING. My one issue was the noise level, which was significantly higher post-lobby renovation. However, the tea experience itself remains practically perfect in every way!
Wanda is amazing. She has been there 17 years and lives her tea members and guests. LOVE HER!
Always a very pleasant experience
Their new, upgraded tea room is absolutely beautiful. The views of Phoenix from the balcony are absolutely gorgeous! You won't find a better high tea in all of Phoenix - from the food to the service, it really is outstanding.
It was an absolute delight. Everything was perfect fo a birthday celebration for my wife who loves high teas. We do this every year.
Afternoon Tea at the Phoenician is very nice. However, beware that they add a 22% gratuity and there were only 4 of us. The Tea was very expensive and that was not necessary.
Best afternoon tea in the universe (OK, maybe just the Phoenix area). Highly recommended.
I had originally had a reservation for six. However, with the flu going around, three of our friends could not make it. I called The Phoenician and advised them just a few days before and they were so friendly and made the changes without an issue. We were also running late and they still were able to accommodate us. I have been going to tea there for years and it never disappoints!
We along with two other tables of 4 were seated next to a large party of 10 that were very loud. It was difficult for us to visit due to the loud table and we were in a side room with them. Poor seating management. Service was very elegant, but we had to hunt them down twice. They added an automatic 22% tip. The scones were good, however; the sandwiches and deserts varied. Tea tasted great, food ok flavor but, All was beautiful.
With the renovations of the Phoenician, the decor is definitely more contemporary than the classic English feel that used to exist there, but the experience is just as pleasant. Natalie and Wanda are wonderful; remembering past guests and making sure the experience is pleasant for everyone. Allen's piano music sets the perfect mood to relax, talk with friends, and just enjoy the afternoon. The white grand piano in the newly renovated area is beautiful. The tea, the finger sandwiches, the scones, and the mini pastries are all both delicious and elegant to look at. And, the view is unmatched. I would definitely recommend afternoon tea at the Phoenician for anyone wanting the classic English tea experience and a pleasant afternoon with friends.
Dear friend and I had afternoon tea. Every thing was wonderful except for the noise level. It was hard for us to catch up with each other.b Nice selection of teas, good variety, excellent finger sandwiches, light scones and the wide variety of pastries was to die for! Delightful venue, excellent staff, delicious tea and people watching to while away a lazy afternoon.
We’ve had tea in London and think the Phoenician’s tea service is the best! Wanda is a true treasure, we adore her and the hotel renovation looks great. Thank you for a beautiful time!
The High Tea at the Phoenician is very relaxing. The menu selection of teas is outstanding.
The sandwich course, scones course and dessert course are delicious.
It's a great place to get together with friends for an afternoon.
Unique experience highly recommended!
A lovely holiday experience. Creative items ,
Excellent champagne served if you want it.
All food was wonderful, large choice of teas and extra portions were offered.
I try to take holiday visitors every year and they are amazed and I have not been dissapointed. Piano with nice selection of songs created a lovely atmosphere.
This was our 11th or 12th annual holiday tea with friends. Wanda was wonderful as usual.
My Mom, sister and I always look forward to our annual holiday tea at the Phoenician. We've been coming for about 20 years and while I have been to high tea literally all over the world, I have always maintained that the tea experience at the Phoenician was the absolute best. First, the good: Our service was great. Wanda & Natalie have taken care of us for years and continue to be the bright spot. As always, Alan provided excellent background music on the grand piano - (which I understand was only installed temporarily and should be there year round!) The food was also very good. Their cranberry scones with clotted cream are excellent.
However, the ambiance has truly been ruined by the new renovations! It appears the designers have never been to an English high tea. It has lost all its charm with a modern, country club bar vibe. Instead of small settees, in quiet groupings, there are big hard edged tables with modern chairs. The beautiful serving tables set with silver are gone, replaced by a hustle & bustle as the servers disappear & reappear with each course. IT NO LONGER FEELS LIKE A TEA ROOM. With the lobby water fountain eliminated, there is no white noise and little to absorb the significant sounds of the lobby and bar activities. Sounds just reverberated through the room. I ended up facing a bar television the entire tea! It depressed us all. Given the significant cost of the Phoenician's holiday tea, we will think long and hard before we decide whether or not to continue our annual tradition, and our celebratory events at the Phoenician. Hotel management should really revisit their decisions and bring back the English and the charm that they have destroyed.
We were seated and all began perfectly. A table of 6 adults and 1 newborn baby was subsequently seated right next to us. The baby cried nonstop. To their credit, the mother and grandmother constantly got up with the baby and walked around or left the lobby w/ the baby. As soon as they returned to the table the screaming resumed. However, in the meanwhile, we spent over $180. for our Holiday high tea and it was ruined by a screaming infant who never should have been bought to this very expensive high tea to begin with. We Should Have Been Offered the option of being moved to a table far away from this screaming child. Or we should have had our ruined High Tea comped by the Phoenician. I am extremely disappointed and would not want to ever repeat this event. Incidentally, I tipped the server over 20%, but still feel my enjoyment of this event was ruined and the Phoenician ignored my discomfort.
My mother and I went to holiday tea at the Phoenician to celebrate Christmas and her visiting from out of town. All of the staff we had the pleasure of interacting with were warm, welcoming, and genuine. We enjoyed the pianist and the beautiful view. The food was lovely and there was a good selection of very interesting tea blends. We hope to make this a holiday tradition.
We had the WORST experience at the afternoon tea. I had made a reservation on 12/7 for 145pm tea on 12/17. I frequent the Phoenicians Afternoon Tea - this was my third visit if the year, and a special visit to celebrate my daughter and my friend's daughter's 9th birthday. When we arrived, we were told by the afternoon tea manager that we are signed up for the "character tea" downstairs with princesses. I did not make a reservation for a "character tea", and I had reservation confirmation to prove that it was a reservation for "afternoon tea". The manager insisted he had no space for us, no food for us. I arrived at 140pm, and 45 minutes had passed. There were several tables large enough to accommodate the 6 of us but management rudely insisted they would not seat us and told us to go down stairs. This was a special occasion and we were not willing to share a noisy 15 people banquet table. We felt like we were treated poorly, and because we had three children with us, we should sit with the "princesses". Absolutely ridiculous- I mean this IS the PHONECIAN?! Due to our relentless and persistent effort to make our daughters day special they FINALLY seated us. We were there approximately 1.5 hours - the table next to us was unoccupied the entire time. But...they insisted they were at full capacity. Liars. Unacceptable. They blamed it all on Open Table! I hope I hear back from someone with an apology for being treating like garbage! Having said this, Wanda, our server is terrific - she's been my server many, many times and she's the most pleasant person!!!
Amazing service! It was my Mom’s birthday celebration and they made her feel so special! Gorgeous setting and the best service ever!
The Afternoon tea at the Phoenician is always a delight.
The perfect holiday splurge! It is a lovely environment and setting!
We had a lovely afternoon at the Christmas tea. The service was impeccable. Loved the tea sandwiches and scones. Enjoyed most of the desserts. The gift bag of goodies at the end was a nice surprise. Well worth the price!
We had a delightful, yummy time at tea. It was relaxing and the setting was just perfect. Service was very well paced. I think the pricing might keep people from experiencing the joys of teatime. That said.....the room was full so maybe I'm wrong!
