About Afternoon Tea at the Brown Palace

For decades, afternoon tea has been a tradition at The Brown Palace. Set amid the historic grandeur of the atrium lobby with its serenade of the melodic piano, guests revel in the splendor as they escape from the city's bustle. Enjoy such signature items as a pot of properly brewed English tea accompanied by scones served with Devonshire cream and preserves, savory tea sandwiches and a delightful array of classic tea pastries.

As usual, a spectacular setting for a festive Holiday tradition. The only "hiccup" in this year's experience was that our waitress was assigned to too many tables and we found ourselves "competing" for her attention. We felt guilty about asking for a group photo in front of the tree - which simply indicates suboptimal staffing.
Despite this shortcoming, we will return next year!

Service was terrible. Have been here before and really enjoyed it. Staff had us waiting for drinks a long time. Did not stop off to ask if we need anything. Had to flag them down 3 times for some lemon.

The gluten-free option for afternoon tea was extremely disappointing. The sandwich bread was very dry and grainy, as were several of the sweet treats. GF options have been around for a long time. For a $50 afternoon tea at a place as well known as the Brown Palace, I expected gourmet GF options that tasted like they were not. I won’t be back.

Perfect through and through. The entire staff provided exquisite customer service and the food and drink were delightful. An experience not to be missed, especially during the Christmas season!

I have been to tea several times and there has never been a time limit. I went the week prior and we stayed for 3.5 hours and had a great time. Such I great time, I brought my family from out of town in and we were rushed to finish tea in 1.5 hours. I have never received such rude service (Jessica) during the holidays or regular season. Also deserts have not been unique and poor quality the past few times. If the brown palace wants to keep current clients they should step up the service and deserts. I would like a call from the manager to discuss more. Thank you

We have enjoyed holiday high tea at the Brown Palace a number of times, and it never disappoints! The table setting is a bit tight, but you just have to relax into the space and savor the elegance and history surrounding you! We will be back again next year!

Took friend for her birthday. The setting was lovely and staff was very attentive. It was a bit expensive for tea, pastries and finger sandwiches, but worth it for the experience. Tea selection was very good.

THIS WAS AN OVERALL WONDERFUL EXPERIENCE TO SHARE WITH MY DAUGHTERS DURING CHRISTMASTIME AND BEFORE WATCHING THE PARADE OF LIGHTS! THE ONLY COMPLAINT I HAVE IS THE SERVERS LOOKED DISHEVELED AND RUSHED AND WE WERE MIS-BILLED INITIALLY. BUT OTHER THAN THAT, WE WILL ALWAYS REMEMBER AND CHERISH THE EXPERIENCE!!

Quite a different experience from last year's disappointment. While the service was still slightly lacking, it was significantly better than last year. We were seated at a table in the main dining area (not a card table in the corner like last year), which added a lot to the experience. The tip was not a required amount this year, which I was glad to see. I was happy to leave a 20% tip on the relatively good service. I might not go back next year, but they have restored my belief that it is a worthwhile holiday experience. I'm sure I'll be back.

Great afternoon tea event in the beautiful decorated atrium of the Brown Palace hotel. Service was noticeably slow, to the point where tables around me questioned if they were short staffed on this particular day. The tea, finger sandwiches, scones, and champagne were amazing - the chocolate plate was a little overwhelming. We received our best service once we got our check - best meaning two different people came over to check on how we enjoyed the event, chat with us about monthly/seasonal changes to the menu, etc. Prior to that, it was hard to get anyone's attention for requests. This is definitely something to try once - not sure I'll return unless I have an out of town guest or friend that must experience it as well. Overall, cost for experience was on-point..but it does come down to service which could have made a "good" experience "amazing".

The only reason I would recommend is for the ambiance and beautiful Christmas decor. Been to many afternoon teas and I was not impressed with the food or service. I would only go back at Christmas time for the beauty of this iconic hotel.

What a lovely afternoon! My bestie and I had a 12:30 seating for tea and it was fantastic! We had the coconut matte and earl grey. The scones were crumbly delicious. The Devonshire cream was delightful along with the strawberry preserves. The cucumber sandwiches were soggy but the curried egg salad with cherry was a revelation. The turkey in rye was forgettable. The petit fours were delicious. The ambiance was delightful with an accomplished pianist that took requests. A lovely time in Denver.

The Brown Palace is an historic place in Denver and so it is nice to be there. However we found the noise level on the Sunday afternoon of our high tea to be extremely loud, making for difficult conversation. In addition, the table prepared for our table of five was more suitable for four and therefore uncomfortable. This is the third time for high tea there. The other occasions were better, but I think this will be the last time for me to arrange a celebration there.

We sat right next to the piano, which was playing lovely tunes, but it was difficult to hear other people at my table. Also, our server wasn't the most friendly, and took about 10 minutes to even acknowledge us when we first sat down. The food and tea were great, service was lacking.

The ambiance and food were very good. The service was questionable. First, she for out tea order (there were only 3 of us!) and when she finally came back with the tea, she looked confused, like she didn’t know which was which, and was bold enough to ask, “Do you care who gets what tea?” I was taken aback by what an absurd question that was!

Everytime we’ve come for High/Afternoon Tea it’s been lovely. This occasion we came for my daughters 7th birthday and they brought her a cupcake with candle and the pianist played Happy Birthday! She was overjoyed. I suggest you make an appointment in advance (months even for holidays).
