Afternoon Tea at the Brown Palace Ratings and Reviews
What a lovely afternoon! My bestie and I had a 12:30 seating for tea and it was fantastic! We had the coconut matte and earl grey. The scones were crumbly delicious. The Devonshire cream was delightful along with the strawberry preserves. The cucumber sandwiches were soggy but the curried egg salad with cherry was a revelation. The turkey in rye was forgettable. The petit fours were delicious. The ambiance was delightful with an accomplished pianist that took requests. A lovely time in Denver.
The Brown Palace is an historic place in Denver and so it is nice to be there. However we found the noise level on the Sunday afternoon of our high tea to be extremely loud, making for difficult conversation. In addition, the table prepared for our table of five was more suitable for four and therefore uncomfortable. This is the third time for high tea there. The other occasions were better, but I think this will be the last time for me to arrange a celebration there.
We sat right next to the piano, which was playing lovely tunes, but it was difficult to hear other people at my table. Also, our server wasn't the most friendly, and took about 10 minutes to even acknowledge us when we first sat down. The food and tea were great, service was lacking.
The ambiance and food were very good. The service was questionable. First, she for out tea order (there were only 3 of us!) and when she finally came back with the tea, she looked confused, like she didn’t know which was which, and was bold enough to ask, “Do you care who gets what tea?” I was taken aback by what an absurd question that was!
Everytime we’ve come for High/Afternoon Tea it’s been lovely. This occasion we came for my daughters 7th birthday and they brought her a cupcake with candle and the pianist played Happy Birthday! She was overjoyed. I suggest you make an appointment in advance (months even for holidays).
We made a fabulous Fall Break memory at the Brown Palace afternoon tea. I took my daughter, her cousin, and my sis-in-law. Both hard-to-please high school girls loved it! We talked and laughed. There were several snap chats. We even have one gluten free and one dairy free eater in our group. Everyone had a buffet of delicious treats to enjoy. It was different. It was a slow peaceful way to spend an afternoon. We will definitely be back.
I chose the Brown Palace for High Tea to celebrate my granddaughter's 11 th birthday. She was delighted. They served dainty tea sandwiches, scones with clotted cream and jam, and pastries. We had 3 selections of teas. They brought my granddaughter a special birthday cupcake and the pianist played "Happy Birthday". My daughter told me that she wants to make it a special family tradition from now on.
I was visiting Colorado. I had always been told that Afternoon Tea at Brown's Palace was not to be missed. I am 68 years old. I had always enjoyed making time for elegance. It was nice to dress up in the afternoon and partake in the almost lost art of dining with grace. The service was pleasant. The scones and finger sandwiches were tasty; the desserts were excellent. If you really want to splurge on a rare opportunity to step into elegance of yesteryear, then I recommend the Afternoon Tea.
The Brown Palace is always a wonderful place to celebrate with friends and the afternoon tea is a great way to do that. The live music was exceptional but as our table was very close to the musicians it made conversation across our table nearly impossible. The food was fantastic. I gave them 4 stars on service only because I had called in a special food request that did not get communicated to our waiter, even though I had called in twice to confirm. He did rectify the error though, which I give him full credit for. Overall a terrific place to meet your friends to celebrate a special occasion! Music is fantastic and the musicians were truly talented! I would highly recommend it!
Had tea with a friend celebrating my birthday. I had the jade oolong and my friend had the masala chai, both were excellent. The tea tray filled with scones, sandwiches and treats hit the spot on a cold, rainy day. I can't wait for my next visit to the Brown Palace for tea.
The two of us thoroughly enjoyed tea at the Brown Palace this past Saturday. The history and architecture of the lobby made the afternoon even more special. The scones were without a doubt the best I've ever had! The staff was extremely accommodating. We were seated next to the piano player, who was very good, but too loud for conversation right next to him. Being seated two tables over made the difference. It was a nice addition to have the music.
The only thing I missed is that there was no lemon curd. Strawberry preserves were served in a small jar. But this would not stop me from going again. Loved the whole experience!
Sandwiches were not something I could eat right now (seeds in the bread) so the waitress had the kitchen make something else. Scones had a wonderful flavor but were a little over baked. Not the best tea I've had at the Brown but still good. Service was very, very good!
It was a wonderful experience and well worth the money; at first glance I thought the pricing was exuberant, but later changed my mind. My daughter and I were promptly seated and the service was impeccable. We especially enjoyed the ambiance and the pianist. It made for a memorable afternoon.
