Adobe Resort - Oregon Ratings and Reviews
The Adobe Restaurant has the best ocean view in Yachats and has a lengthy menu. My wife and I dined there (our third visit in the past two years) on a Friday evening with another couple. I had made a 7:00 pm reservation in order to be there at sunset. We had to wait until about 7:20 to be seated but were given a window table as requested. We all ordered from among their dinner specials. Three of us ordered the halibut special and one, prime rib. The waitress returned to say that they were all out of both halibut and prime rib. (Perhaps 7:00 pm is late for dining in Yachats?) We changed to scallops (three) and steak (one). We were pleased with our dinners, even if they were our second choice. Service was friendly and attentive.
We were seated promptly and ordered a bottle of white wine. Twenty minutes later a wine bucket arrived but no wine until we asked. We took our first sip 30 minutes after arriving. Our inexperienced waitress poured the first glass and then we were on our own. Our meals of fried oysters and scallops arrived looking perfect. The problem with both was they weren't cooked. We like aldente but this was rediculous. The chef had the potential great meal on the plate but failed to execute.
As we have come to expect, our dinner at the Adobe was very pleasant. The view is wonderful, the food is consistently good, and service is good if a bit informal. On this occasion, we both chose specials: swordfish in a pineapple rum sauce, and a bacon-wrapped filet with prawns. The steak especially was superb, although all the rest was excellent as well.
We will definitely be back soon.
We have been to the Adobe several times in years past and even though it wasn't top of the line it was adequate. The biggest selling point is the location. Spectacular view of the Pacific! We once saw whales passing by from our table window.
However, not even the amazing view will make up for the boring, badly prepared food we were served last Saturday night. It was pretty awful. For a restaurant over-looking the ocean you would expect better seafood but it was limited to what you might find in a roadside diner in the Midwest. Nothing special and pretty much limited to shrimp.
Needless to say we won't be returning to the Adobe the next time we are in Yachats.
Adobe is a very old establishment and it shows. It sits ocean front which is why people go there. The dining area is old dark paneling giving a somewhat dark and closed feeling. The food is ordinary and lacks imagination especially given the area you are in. All ingredient s should be very fresh. They are not. Our halibut looked like a prepackaged out of the box oblong patty. It tasted ok but bland. There are toooo many other places in the area that offer better fare. Go for the view if you must ,not the slow service or the bland food.
We always enjoy having dinner at the Adobe. We have never been disappointed with the food or the service. We were treated "specially" by all of the servers. After letting the staff know that we were celebrating our 59th Wedding Anniversary, we were provided with a complementary desert.
We have eaten at the Adobe several times over the past 10 years and have always enjoyed it very much. However, I do not recommend the brunch we were served on Valentine's Day 2016. We were given the option of ordering off the menu for a higher price but opted for the senior price of the brunch for $16.95. The plates are very small and the food was the standard brunch food. It was very difficult for the servers to keep the salmon tray filled. Will continue to eat there but not for another holiday brunch.
I had the petite filet with crab stuffed prawns, my wife had the Coho Salmon. My food was very well executed but my wife was disappointed with her Salmon which was over done and dry. Our deserts, Key Lime Brûlée was also excellent. Our server was attentive and did a great job!
We have stayed at the Adobe several times and eaten at the restaurant. The food, service etc. is usually good. Unfortunately, we ate there for their Christmas buffet and it was just the opposite. They had run out of some of the main dishes, the ham was so salty I couldn't eat it, the mashed potatoes were lumpy and if you wanted pumpkin pie for dessert you were in luck - that was the only dessert left. We got there about 5:30 and they took reservations until 7:00. Normally buffets have all the choices out until they quit serving. I don't know what happened here. Maybe more people than anticipated? Definitely not worth the money.
Location, Location, Location. On a clear day, this is one of the best views along the central Oregon Coast. Staff were amazing, and the brunch exceeded our expectations, particularly in consideration of the reasonable price. Thanks you for an enjoyable Sunday with Family.
We were pleasantly surprised when we were sat at a window table overlooking what must be one of the best restaurant views that exist. The food was prepared very well. I had a mixed grill seafood dish that was perfectly prepared. Service was attentive. The cocktails were excellent and reasonably priced as was the wine list. We are returning there tonight.
We have been going to a restaurant buffet closer to home, Newport, and have been disappointed. I'd heard the Adobe was good so decided to give it a try. It was well worth the drive (45 minutes one way). The food quality and variety was great as was the service from all. The omelets great, I would have preferred real home style breakfast potatoes.
