The best as usual! This is the place to go for a guaranteed great meal.
We have lived in Palos Verdes since 1971 and Risty has always been favorite restaurant. Others come and go but the Admiral never fails us.
Worst experience in a long time. The service was horrible. Waited for 45 minutes to have our waiter take our order. And that was after I went to the front to ask someone to take our order. Our wAiter only inquired how things were after we had been served our main meal. And then it was obvious he truly did not care. Would never go back nor recommend.
Admiral Risty is ALWAYS the same...which in this case is a good thing. Everything is the highest quality and the service is impeccable. I’ve been going to this restaurant for over 40 years and although I’ve moved away from the area I visit an old friend in the area almost monthly and our first dinner of every visit is at Risty’s. My absolute favorite is the crab Caesar salad!
Excellent! We often eat there for special occasions and it was my Husband's birthday.
Excellent meal and service. We had a party of 6 for a 41st wedding anniversary. Beautiful sunset view. Jimmy waited on us and made everything perfect.
Always excellent one of my favorite restaurants. Consistency and excellent food quality and service Has made it a Hallmark restaurant in the Southbay.
Very nice - delicious food!
maybe i spend too much time in los angeles proper, but i’m failing to understand why this restaurant has such good reviews. the decor is dated, the service was so-so, even the menu choices are dated (i practically expected to get a gelatinous fruit dessert). for the same type of food, i would stick to a kincaid’s, etc. yes, the views are nice, but i would not consider this a special occasion restaurant.
The panoramic ocean view was always beautiful. The restaurant gave every diner a refreshing freshly cut fruit bowl while we were waiting for our food. What a wonderful surprise!
Admiral Risty never disappoints. From the self serve cheese/cracker offering in the bar, to the ambiance (Old World) great wait staff and food, but most of all, the amazing panoramic view of the pacific. Arrive early enough to enjoy the sunset. Peak dining hours are always busy.
I made my reservations on line. I first tried by phone but was unable to talk to anyone as it was prior to regular open hours. I did note on my reservation (when questioned if this was a special occasion) that it was an Anniversary. (Actually it was our 62 wedding Anniversary). When I mentioned it to our waitress, she was kind enough to bring us a special desert but had no prior knowledge. So why the question on the reservation information page? I would have liked to try to have a table with a better view, however did not see an option for any special request (on seating). Should I have waited and called during open hours?
Been going here for over 30 years. My favorite restaurant around!
Never Disappoints! It was a beautiful Easter dinner
Easter lunch was great
Seafood amazing. Service is just unheard of. Everybody nice. Decor is dated, but you do not have to eat it :-) Highly recommended.
The Risty still has its charm! We last ate there in 1992; it was our favorite "special" place to go for anniversaries, birthdays, etc. Fast-forward to 2018, and we were visiting friends and some family in the South Bay area, and decided to go purely for nostalgia...we were not disappointed! The food is wonderful and creative, and the portions very large. Great drinks, a beautiful view, truly a gem of a place that is ageing gracefully!
We all (8) ordered seafood and it was good. However, the vegetables (broccoli and asparagus) were bland - no butter or seasoning. They were steamed and dumped on our plates!. Hardly anybody ate them. My portion of sea bass was small about 6 oz for $42.00!! The cocktails were OK but also expensive - $11.50 for a Manhattan made with well bourbon. Wine list was good with wines being about 2.5 X retail prices. Perhaps most disappointing was the service. Half of our orders were delivered and after waiting 10 minutes, we had to flag down a manager to get the rest of our orders delivered! We won't be going back there as there are plenty of other restaurants around.
Let's review: menu which has been around now for years...only changes appear to be upward bound prices.
Tables very, very close together. Being seated now next to the kitchen two times in a row with a member of the wait staff literally whizzing by every 30 seconds doesn't lead to a good experience.
Beside fish entrees there is one been dish and one lamb
Excellent service and atmosphere ... food good! WE were late to our reservation and they were very friendly and kind about pushing our time later.
Consistently the food is great. The service was very friendly. We had the seabass poached and it was cooked perfectly. Also... love the big bowl of salad and fresh bread. Always a treat to be at the Risty!
Admiral Risty's has always been a family favorite growing up. This place is timeless and so special!
After returning to the area after 20 years we spent a Sunday night here celebrating a special event. It was as if nothing had changed.
A warm welcome upon arrival.
Superb service from Jimmy.
Great food, wine and dessert selection.
Food top notch and cooked to perfection.
Overall ambiance warm and familiar.
We were blessed with a beautiful sunset too!!! This place is hard to compete with and I will always return when in the area!!!!
The Admiral lived up to it's Iconic and Legendary expectations. We went for our 40th wedding anniversary and were treated exceptionally. It has a stunning 180 degree view, exceptional sunsets, the food and service are refreshing to say the least. Your appetizer, salad , main and dessert are timed appropriately for a very relaxing experience.
Consistently good food and service. Have always wondered why the bread is so lousy...may as well be Wonder bread.
Our dining experience at Admiral Risty's was great as usual. Food, ambiance and service all top rate. The night we were there we heard a guitarist play and sing and he made the evening. Quiet enough that we could hear each other. Gentle, lovely music. We always recommend highly!
One of the only original coastal fish houses left. Stellar fresh fish flown in from Alaska, etc.
Fab chilled salads. Generous servings. Upper end of cost scale but worth it.
I've been coming here for years. Great options for steaks, seafood, and appetizers. Great location and view as well. Service is usually very good but our service Saturday night was some of the best I've had at any restaurant in a long time.
Always a friendly atmosphere with great seafood and delicious steaks.
We are lucky to live close by. The food is always delicious and the service is always outstanding.
We couldn't ask for anything more.
Always a great local spot with loads of history. Although the exterior has changed the interior looks the same as when I first went there 25 years ago. The food is consistent. A bit pricey but at least they do not skimp on the food and it is always very good. Best Creme Brulee on the planet. Services is awesome.
Always an amazing experience. Sea bass is the best. Always ask for Jimmy! He's got the best taste and ideas for your meal.
I like this place. It's cozy and feels familiar. The staff is all nice and the food is pretty damn good. It's not exactly the kind of place I would take a date but for me and my boys it has all the meat and potatoes charm we need.
Everything was great… They really take care of us and we really appreciate it
We love The Risty! We have enjoyed the flank steak for years. It is our favorite. Our friends gave us a taste of their trout almandine and it was delicious! If you haven't tried The Risty, you should. Try to get a table by the window to watch the sunset. It never disappoints!
Never disappointed! Food is delicious and prepared well. Makes everyday dining a special event.
An old favorite in my hometown, Admiral Risty is still a crowd pleaser. I took relatives there when I was visiting last week from the NYC area. My last visit was over ten years ago. The food was very good, especially the trout almodine and cioppino, and service--from the warm greeting at the front door to the attentive table side service --was excellent. The restaurant decor is very dated and could use a refresh. The view of the Pacific is wonderful, but would be even better if the restaurant interior was enhanced.
We love going to the Admiral Risty. The food, ambiance, servers, and view are outstanding. We usually go with the waiter's recommendation. This time it was the sea bass, and it was wonderful.
My husband and I had a wonderful dinner this evening. The Sea Bass Almondine was delicious, so flaky and moist, loved the preparation. My husband had the Ciopinno, and loved it. Watch the sunset, enjoyed a glass of the Cote de Rhone. Such a blessed evening.
My wife and I love Admiral Risty. We celebrate many special occasions there. We were engaged at Admiral Risty back in 2009 and I celebrated my 21st birthday there in 1976.. A great place to dine and enjoy an evening watching the sun set. I highly recommend this iconic restaurant.
