My girlfriend and I were going through a rough spell and in an attempt to put things back on track, I planned a weekend trip to Toronto from our home down in the US. I went online to find a nice place to take her and we made online reservations for 9:30pm.

After driving for hours, crossing the border and driving a couple more hours, we got checked into our hotel and got dressed up for dinner. Upon arrival at 9:30 they told us that they just closed. Why have a reservation slot for the time you close? Needless to say I was left embarrassed in front of my girl (technically ex-girlfriend) and we ended up going down the street to Elm Tree (Highly recommended by the way!)

Very unhappy with the experience. Would not recommend to anyone.

Very enjoyable. The server was terrific, the 'free' apps were tasty, Transat app was not too good, the price for the snapper was a bit high. It would be nice to have 1/2 litre of wine option.
All in all, wonderful.

We were visiting Toronto for a weekend and wanted something authentic and good for fish and seafood. Portuguese sounded just exotic enough to add some romance to the evening and it was. It is more than the food, it was the attentive and seamlessly professional wait staff, the hushed lighting, the solicitous maître d'hôtel.... Don't miss the experience of being expertly guided to some excellent Portuguese wines as well.

Busy restaurant for a Monday evening. Menu is primarily seafood. Main entrees were generously proportioned. According to a couple of my dining companions there is a dining room in the basement wine cellar where you can have a private dinner.

Food and service was excellent
The decor a little outdated like I was stuck in the 90s
Definitely would recommend this restaurant especially if you like fish it’s what the Portuguese are known for
Can’t wait to go back

Service was good, food was tasty. Only complaint is my pasta had sliced scallops so the restaurant could save money. I paid $24 for a small bowl of pasta that should have full size scallops and more bacon.

The food itself was well cooked. My squid was amazing and all the desserts were great. The restaurant is louder than I prefer but you could still hear your group so it was okay. The decor was warm and inviting. We had to move tables unfortunately as they had some lights that wouldn’t stop flickering above us. There were bones in the fish we got and they did not do anything to make up for that so I wasn’t impressed there. It was nice however that all the staff were Portuguese and knew the wine list very well. Service was friendly but lacked steady pacing throughout the meal. All it all it was nice enough but not top of my list to return to.

There were quiet booths and we sat in one of them. The waitering staff were very attentive and friendly. Lobster and crab bisque were rich in flavor. Our pasta and mushroom risotto tasted pretty authentic. Mixed sorbet and creme caramel were very delicious as well.

We had an exceptional experience. We were fortunate to have been given a very private little dining nook, that only improved on the experience. The seafood dinner was delightful, and the servers were highly professional, appropriately attentive without being intrusive, and had excellent knowledge of the menu options. This was a top notch experience, worthy of the price paid.

Great evening! Loved the Grilled Squid appetizer and the Linguine with Tiger Shrimp! Creme Brulee was also fabulous. My husband loved his Sea Bream special but thought his chef's soup lacked some flavour; he wished he had had the Grilled Squid when he tasted mine. This was our 3rd-4thtime dining at Adega and we will definitely be back again. Our server, who was Portuguese, was outstanding! Very attentive to every detail! A very enjoyable evening! Highly recommend!

Adega is the only restaurant in Toronto I would describe as "consistently amazing." I have been eating at Adega for years and it is my go-to special occasion dinner spot. I have treated friends and family (from around the globe) to dinner there and everyone comments on the hospitality, great food and great vibe.

They have honed the menu and still offer many (many!) specials. I appreciate a well edited wine list which offers reasonable prices for wines by the glass to bottles.

The Portuguese hospitality, seafood and wines are not to be missed whether you are visiting Toronto or are a native.
