Adega Grill Ratings and Reviews
When our original New Years Eve plans got scuttled we scrambled to find a comparable reservation and were very lucky to land one at Adega Grill.
We had a great experience here. The wait staff were very friendly and attentive. The food was excellent and I would go so far to say that this is my new favorite restaurant in the Ironbound.
The ambiance was spectacular, appearing like a wine cellar with vines, reminiscent of an inn in Europe. The appetizers we had were to die for. The paella was amazingly authentic. And the sangria was out of this world. Service was very attentive and terribly friendly. Two thumbs up.
The best was ambiance and service.Disappointed with the food.
I've had lunch in the bar side of this establishment and the food was much better.
May be just a bad night.Pricey, but when food is good and the overall experience is above average price becomes secondary in my opinion.
This restaurant is always packed. This was my second trip to Adega Grill and the experience was the same. Very crowded hard to get a table without a reservation. I made my reservation as far in advance as possible on open table. Still had to wait 20 minutes before being seated. Food is very good. Their chorizo is the best I’ve ever had. Red sangria was delicious. Servers constantly refilling our glasses without us having to ask!! Food is delicious. Make sure you specify which dish you want. The both times I went someone got the wrong meal! The decor is beautiful. Very impressive for a first date or anniversary!
Excellent Dinner! We dined at Adega Grill prior to the Garth Brooks concert at the Prudential Center. The restaurant was an easy walk to the Prudential Center. We were so very happy we chose this restaurant - the food was absolutely delicious, the servings were generous, there were good $40 wine bottles, the service was attentive. The restaurant was beautiful, but packed tight - more like an NYC restaurant.
My daughter & i were in Newark for a NYC sightseeing vacation. I made reservations there for Thanksgiving since most places were closed that day. I was a little nervous since neither of us had ever eaten Portuguese food. However, my fears were put to rest as soon as we entered the restaurant. The service was 5 star. The food was 5 star. It was easy to get from our hotel 8 minutes away. And we parked on the street a few steps from the restaurant although they have a dedicated parking garage down the block. If you're looking for something, this is place!
There were four of us for dinner. Food was good, everyone liked their dinners, especially the filet. Appetizers of garlic shrimp and the clams were delicious. The downside was the haphazard service. Alternately rushed and not around, the wait staff didn’t seem to realize how to serve and clear. I don’t have a problem with reaching across when necessary but we were all easily accessible to the waiters and yet the plates were delivered slapdash. Too bad. This could be a cool authentic place for a good dinner. We wouldn’t return; rather try other options on Ferry St.
We we're in Newark at the Ironhound Rec Boxing Academy for a Paint for Ponk event and needed a restaurant for my birthday. I saw a friend post pics of a huge shellfish platter from this place so we tried it. It did not disappoint. Upon her recommendation, 4 of us shared the shellfish platter for 2 (Parilhada de Marisco) at $58.95. It came with lobster, lobster tails, prawns, jumbo shrimp, king crab legs, clams, New Zealand mussels and scallops, served with saffron rice. It was like paella only nothing was dry the way paella can be. The saffron rice was at the bottom, full of flavor, and the huge pieces of shellfish were piled on top, each juicy and flavorful. I'd come back just for this dish. Along side the platter came a large portion of crispy potato chips. They seemed more air popped, void of salt but also of flavor. I prefer the traditional kind. Go big or go home. We also had escargot in green sauce. Thr escargot were large, plump and equally delicious. We also had a dish of shrimp in garlic sauce which almost seemed like it was cooked with those spicy and tangy yellow banana peppers, although I didn't see any in the dish. It had so much more flavor than the typical shrimp and garlic sauce you get at typical Spanish restaurants. The only down side was the sangria. It tasted a bit like Hawaiian Punch, with not much fruit floating in it. I'm not sure if there was any alcohol in it either. But the food was so good, I pushed aside my unworthy sangria and focused on the food. I'd highly recommend this restaurant and can't wait to return.
We usually love adega and took our family this time! Sangria was good! Mushroom topped with crabmeat was decent! The churro I flambé was cooked too long and it was so dry we hardly ate it. Our shrimp and garlic had no sauce (which is one of my favorite things to dip my bread into) shish kabob meat was a little tough! And the swordfish was cooked a little too much! We did not have dessert and our bill was $230 go 2 adults and my 11 year old daughter.. not worth it this time:(
AMAZING Meal! This was the first time I was here and brought five of my friends and we all had the best experience. The service was great - the wine was awesome and the food was AMAZING! I would highly suggest the Seafood for Two...and do not let the price deter you...it was worth EVERY penny and some and could easily feed three or four. We all had great meals and cannot wait to go back!
My friends and I were attending a concert at The Prudential Center, which makes this restaurant several minutes away. They offer free parking one block away which is convenient as there is limited parking on the street. The staff was attentive and meals were well timed, no long periods in between courses. We split the stuffed Portobello mushroom with crabmeat appetizer which was delicious. I I had the grilled salmon which was cooked perfectly and the portion were quite adequate. The area we sat was in the alcove which lent to having a private conversation with friends. I will most likely attend again even if I am not attending an event at the Prudential Center.
The service was outstanding. The Sangria was excellent. The portions are very large . The octopus appetizer was amazing and split between the two of us but could easily have been split among four. The Paella for one and the Veal chop were excellent the portions were large and we took much of it home. I look forward to having an excuse to be in Newark so I can go back.
