Thomas Keller's Ad Hoc + Addendum was originally intended to be a temporary restaurant, but due to its loyal following, it was decided that it must be a permanent fixture in Yountville. Ad Hoc serves a prix fixe, 4-course family-style menu, which changes daily, and embodies the comfort food reminiscent of the recipes Chef Keller's childhood. Addendum is the restaurant's seasonal outpost offering buttermilk fried chicken or BBQ picnic lunches to be enjoyed in the garden or taken to-go.

We dine out fairly frequently and love to visit new and unique restaurants. Ad Hoc seemed a little gimmicky and the noise level was out of control. It could be that it was Valentine's Day and a different day might have been a different experience for us. It was nice to have the complementary glass of champagne and the food and service was ok, but did not quite rise to the level of some other dining experiences we've had in the recent past, hence our "just ok" review.

Our waiter told us they had run out of scallop ceviche, but we later caught him serving it to another table of some of his “bros.” So I stiffed him. And the food this time was blah. Do yourself a favor and skip Ad Hoc.
