Thomas Keller's Ad Hoc + Addendum was originally intended to be a temporary restaurant, but due to its loyal following, it was decided that it must be a permanent fixture in Yountville. Ad Hoc serves a prix fixe, 4-course family-style menu, which changes daily, and embodies the comfort food reminiscent of the recipes Chef Keller's childhood. Addendum is the restaurant's seasonal outpost offering buttermilk fried chicken or BBQ picnic lunches to be enjoyed in the garden or taken to-go.

Amazing in one word. Food was delicious and very flavorful. Best Caesar salad, hands down, with house made dressing, anchovies, and capers. The bone in ribeye was perfection at medium rare, fork tender, with a crisp outer crust. Cheese grits melted in your mouth. Brussels and phenomenally flavored sauce on house made dumplings. Cheese board after main course. Caramel butterscotch pudding with homemade ginger snap crumbs for dessert. Been married for 20 years and traveled extensively. This is in top 5 meals ever. Highly recommend.

Ad Hoc is consistently great! Service is fantastic and food is the best. You must go hungry because you will probably leave with food to take home. Best price value in Napa Valley. Check the website for the daily menu as it changes everyday, Also a great Sunday Brunch. Locals say you can sit st the bar and eat ala carte!

I gotta be honest, I was a little disappointed in my experience! We had a later reservation (9:15pm) and were greeted and shown to our table promptly which was great. The first dish (broccolini) came out and was lukewarm / room temperature - I couldn't tell if that's how it was supposed to be, or maybe it was supposed to be warm? Pretty good but nothing super special. The second course was steak which although flavorful and good (especially the bone in piece), was also barely lukewarm. It was served med rare to rare (yumm) so I wouldn't expect it piping, but even just "hot" would have been good. It was also a bit more grisly than I'd have expected. Maybe we got the last of the day cut that was kept under a warmer since we were a later table, but still a little let down. The cheese and pretzel course was amazing though mostly cause its just bread and cheese and that's always good. Dessert (ice cream sundae) was delicious but again, just not as special as I was expecting - if there was an interesting topping or something (beyond just pecans...), it would have been so much better.

Lastly, and this is my biggest pet peeve, I (female) was paying for my (male) date. When we were done, the server set the check down in front of my date which is not great but fine. I picked it up, put my credit card in it, and placed it back between us. When the server picked it up, he smiled at my date and thanked HIM. Okay fine, he might not have seen me put the card in. The server ran the card, and then set the check directly back in front of my date and thanked him again. Note that I have a very obviously feminine name on the card, my date has a beard, and I was not looked at or acknowledged during this entire interaction. If I'm spending hundreds of dollars at a very nice restaurant, I would expect the staff to recognize that or at the very least, not completely and rudely disregard it. A very unfortunate ending to an only slightly better than mediocre experience.

May have caught on a bad night w lemon pepper chicken as main course but we thought dinner was underwhelming especially in light of cost. $21 for a glass of pinot.
