About Ad Hoc
Thomas Keller's Ad Hoc + Addendum was originally intended to be a temporary restaurant, but due to its loyal following, it was decided that it must be a permanent fixture in Yountville. Ad Hoc serves a prix fixe, 4-course family-style menu, which changes daily, and embodies the comfort food reminiscent of the recipes Chef Keller's childhood. Addendum is the restaurant's seasonal outpost offering buttermilk fried chicken or BBQ picnic lunches to be enjoyed in the garden or taken to-go.

Ad Hoc Ratings and Reviews
We had an unfortunate experience as the chicken was all dark meet wings and thighs and the menu fixed. Hard to eat that many carbs in one meal. Overall the food quality was very poor. To be honest chik Fila makes better chicken and I have had fried chicken almost everywhere.
I went there because I heard they had good fried chicken. The chicken must’ve been flown in from Somalia… It was the smallest chicken I’ve ever seen and more resembled a squab. I could not identify which part of the chicken the pieces were from. The breading was decent however it was doused in a chili pepper sauce more resembling a buffalo sauce which I cannot stand and it totally ruined it for me.
The pork chop was cooked perfectly and was tender and not too dry however they ruined it by putting a catchup like sauce on it similar to a meat loaf sauce.
Salad was fresh however I’m not a fan of arugula… That’s just a personal choice.
Way overpriced !!!!!
Nothing about it was memorable.
The service was excellent.
Restaurant is always great. Hade chicken and waffles and a lobster omelette. Service was not great this time. Our waiter forgot about us and left us sitting there waiting for the bill with empty plates. Three tables that arrived after us and got there food after us got there check and left. Service here is normally impeccable.
I’ve been to all of Thomas Keller’s places, ad hoc is pretty good! The menu is different every day so I’m not going to discuss the food other than telling you it was good.
For some reason the place has become super loud, everyone had to yell to hear each other and it created an ear piecing atmosphere.
I probably won’t be coming back, which is sad cause the food is great and it’s a good place to dip your toes in the Thomas Keller restaurant empire
From again.. first walking in and being greeted by Gabriel you are felt welcome as in someones home. I sometimes dine alone while on work trips and always have places sit you in the back corner or out of the way.. Not at Ad Hoc.. you are part of the family. From the service to the foods. This is one of the few places that I will eat anything. the chefs at Ad Hoc would never make it unless it was exceptional. Never fails to live up to my high standards..
It’s rare that we are not happy with our dining experience but Ad Hoc left us unsatisfied. The menu and family style concept is terrific, we loved the vibe and energy in the restaurant.
Maybe we went on the wrong night? The short rib was not well seasoned and the cheese plate was only 1 type of cheese.
I read the reviews about Ad Hoc which seemed to be either very good or very bad. I was torn whether to cancel the reservation because of those reviews. I was thinking that there must be a way to figure out how to interpret them The only way was to see for my self. The answer : Mr Keller should be embarrassed by this place. Basically I spent $240 for 2 for a chicken dinner and wine I could have gotten from a supermarket for about $25 minus the wine. As we drove to Ad Hoc we passed Bouchon Bakery where there were lines down the block waiting to get in. Our dessert at Ad Hoc was coffee cake from Bouchon Bakery. My conclusion about this whole experience considering all of the wonderful dining in this region DO NOT WASTE YOUR TIME, MONEY Or TASTEBUDS ON THIS PLACE or spend time waiting in line at Bouchon Bakery. Those reviewers who gave this place a high rating better check the Cool Aid they are drinking.
The food was delicious and Ad Hoc was our best dining experience in Napa for that reason. The only downside is the fixed-price nature of the meal; a little expensive if you typically don't order four courses (if you do, then it's likely right in line with what you'd expect to pay). Overall, a good splurge meal for us -- and the fried chicken, especially, was fantastic!
We came here for my 30th birthday and were blown away by the food. Everything we were served was delicious and creative. The only complaint was the service was a little sub-par. We were never offered a second round of drinks (both cocktails were finished by the second course) and they seemed to have "forgotten" where we were in the menu line-up at one point because it took almost 20 minutes for the next dish to arrive. They were very busy and we weren't in a hurry -- so it wasn't a huge deal. However, when you're spending that kind of money at a Thomas Keller restaurant better service would have been nice.
The brunch featured fried chicken with a savory waffle. Delicious!! The Chicken was juicy, well seasoned and had a crispy crust. The fruit salad with marscapone was delicious, too! Surprisingly, the chocolate chip bread pudding was a disappointment. It was dry, not much chocolate flavor, and ate more like a muffin than bread pudding. Overall, it was a great experience.
Always worth the drive and never disappoints. The salad was fresh and tasty and the cheese course was to die for! Creamy local cheese with a strawberry compote on toasted bread, tasted amazing. The main course of steak, French fries and green beans was too salty for my taste, even my husband who loves salt thought it was too. Dessert of chocolate cupcakes was good too.
