Had to ask 3 times to get the heater turned on. The server just slid the appetizer on our table. Didn’t bother to take menu away.
We always love the salads, and husband is not a salad guy.
My fault, but I didn’t realize they had a fixed menu and only served the fried chicken during Sunday brunch and Mondays. That was disappointing. Food was good but nothing exceptional and certainly not worth the price, $250 for two of us. Service was unfriendly. We frequent Napa and this can not compare to some of the other fine restaurants.
Great accommodations to add guest to our reservation though we did have to adjust reservation time which was totally acceptable. Only comment is that it seems to get louder with each visit. People try and talk over music and then each other. Don’t recommend for a romantic date night as it’s almost impossible to carry on conversation without speaking overly loud.
We enjoyed our evening but didn't find Ad Hoc to be a stand-out restaurant relative to other great options in the area. The one-menu concept is appealing, but the menu we found online for the day we went was not the menu offered that night, which was a bit disappointing. The service was good and the food was excellent. The noise level, particularly the music, was too loud to allow conversation, which was very disappointing. Overall I'm glad I went but doubt that I'd ever go back.
Ad Hoc doesn't disappoint. Once again, our service was impeccable, and our food was outstanding.
Down to earth setting for world class food. Comfort food that makes you wonder if it's being catered by a Michelin star chef or you're sitting on the back patio with a golden retriever at your feet. The food was incredible, service was outstanding and the overall experience is worth driving out of your way for.
I returned to Ad Hoc two years after my first visit which was a memorable meal. Unfortunately, this time the food and experience failed to deliver. While the service was fine, the menu and the food was very disappointing. The menu lacked balance and the execution of the dishes was weak, especially considering the reputation this place has enjoyed. The radicchio salad was drowning in dressing, the pork chops were tough and over salted, the corn was starchy, tasteless and dripping with butter. The macaroni and cheese was quite good but who serves corn and pasta, without a green vegetable? The starch overload continued with a platter of biscuits, cheese and honey that followed the mains. Really? Couldn’t even look at that and we passed on the cupcakes for dessert. This was a menu that seemed planned by a 12year old boy. I don’t know if i was an off night or if Ad Hoc has lost its mojo. I fear the latter, based on reviews I heard from locals.
Another amazing meal. I never would have imagined my kids eating a raddicio salad, but they asked for seconds. The mac-n-cheese was creamy and my son shovelled spoonfuls into his mouth. My husband and mom had the wine pairing and proclaimed everything was perfect.
The menu was delicious and there was a ton of food. We took about half of it home with us.
Amazing potato salad and courses. However the desert made the meal anticlimatic. But I am not a desert person.
This was our fourth time eating here over a span of six or so years. We always stop here when on our trips to Napa Valley. This last visit was our least favorite dining experience to date here based on the food. The service was excellent and we still very much love the concept (one set menu for all guests).
This particular time was disappointing. We are fans of well seasoned, even border line salty food, but the ribeye and potatoes were extremely salty! They were cooked to perfection with great flavor, but the salt overpowered it.
Had this been our first visit, I’m not sure we would ever return. The other thing I am beginning to find disappointing is their dessert option. More often than not, the offering is ice cream. How about a piece of pie or cake? My husband and I would never choose ice cream as a dessert option and it leaves us less than satisfied.
The food was AMAZING!!!!! I would drive the hour from my home to eat there again. One set menu, and every item prepared impeccably!! Absolutely recommend the wine pairings!
We had an 8:15 reservations and there is no words or wait really the bar was totally packed and it's pretty small and for whatever reason they allowed a couple to eat their dinner up there which took space away from everybody who is waiting. We did finally get sat at 8:48 and we were outside which was really very very nice. Our server, Dave, was really excellent. The food was nothing to shout home about it just average for Napa Valley for $200 that we spent it was not a good value at all.
Delicious food. I always enjoy coming here. Wish there had been a seafood addition instead of veal. It was tasty, just had steak and veal. Really loved the asparagus and pea salad as the asparagus was perfectly cooked and picked at just the right moment. Not something I would have just thrown together myself but not “fancy”. Sundaes also a perfect way to end as I watched people at other tables digging their spoons into the tall glasses. It was entertaining watching how much people enjoyed it.
We loved Ad Hoc. We had asparagus salad, skirt steak, delicious cheese dish and ice cream sundaes for dessert. The cheesy grits served with the skirt steak was out of this world. Good recommendation on bottle of wine by server. Would highly recommend.
The service was great (noticeably slowed down when it got busy, though!), and the food was very delicious, as one would expect from Chef Keller. Loved how they already thoughtfully prepared our meals considering dietary restrictions sent via the open table app. Would absolutely do it again. Loved the laid back, convivial atmosphere, and family style sharing service.
Food was fabulous! Wait staff incredible. Especially Osmondo!!!
Great service but more importantly great food. This was my family’s second time at this establishment and the food and service was as great as the first time. Nice to see that the menu is what it is (no modifications) but that the servers always asked if their was certain food allergies at each table. None of that was for our table, but I know as a Chef myself, that that was very VERY important to the chefs. It’s all fun in the kitchen, until a food allergy presents itself! That stuff can send someone to the hospital! Excellent all around!!! Thank you
A really delicious and unique dining experience. There is a daily menu choice with a fish option that can be substituted . First, the bar is very relaxed and a good place to start your experience. They have drink specials that go back 50 years and re-create classic drinks from days gone by. I had a 1930s daiquiri that was over the top. The main course selections for the first night I went was veal that was done in the style of German Wienerschnitzel. Served with an absolutely incredible mushroom barley side dish that left me wanting more. They have an excellent wine list with some half bottle selections. Highly recommend this restaurant. It was so good I ate there two nights in a row.
Best pork belly I have ever had!
Waiter not great this time. Sat outside for first time... prefer inside. Will be back!
We really enjoyed our dinner at Ad Hoc. Food was great and service was outstanding. We ate on the back patio which, with great weather, was really fantastic.
I have been dining at Ad Hoc for 9 years now and it’s is my absolute favorite restaurant ever.
Dan, Dan has been my requested server since after my second visit and he is truly the absolute best. He knows how to lead and create the ultimate dining experience.
The food is always the absolute best.
Best food in Yountville! Not to mention the fantastic service...be sure to visit Monday night for the buttermilk fried chicken! It’s to die for.
Great food and service
I requested a vegitarian option for my wife,
2 weeks prior to my reservation. They just gave
Her a plate of veggies. There was a pasta option
On the menu. A creative chef might have
Sautéed some veggies with the paste as a
More interesting option for her. I guess the
Thinking chefs are all up the street.
Overall AdHoc was good not great. If you go bring an appetite as the portions are generous. I will compliment them on the service - really nice job.
We went specifically to try their famous buttermilk fried chicken.- It does not live up to the hype. It was good but not the best ever as many claim. Actually need some seasoning .... a bit bland
The wedge salad to start was excellent.
I don’t get the cheese course.... I love trying different cheeses but after some bread ,the salad and
the chicken with side dishes it just felt like a bit much knowing that there was also desert yet to come. Perhaps they add the cheese course so it makes it a 4 course meal for marketing purposes...
Desert was a mixed bag ... pedestrian chocolate cake ... my wife had the lemon desert that was excellent.
All in dinner for two with 1 cocktail each ended up costing $190 including the tip. Seems pricey for what it was. We are locals so we dine up and down the valley and in town often and there are better options if you want to spend that much and a great variety of excellent places for less.
So we are not likely to return.
Everything we had was delicious. Service was spot on and I felt we received great value for our meal.
Brunch at this place never fails. Brought a friend who’s vegetarian and they readily accommodated his dietary need. Thank you.
Ad Hoc always satisfies! Consistent great food and service.
Ad Hoc was amazing! Food was awesome!
The food was great as usual but the portion of the main course seemed to be smaller than usual. Each of us only have 3 small piece of steak. We ordered and additional dish which helps. I’ve seen other tables ordered additional steak as well which tells me that the portion is a bit short.
Food was good but nothing special. Ahi tuna addition was not very good. It lacked flavor and did not taste fresh.
Impeccable service. Outstanding food.
The expérience was amazing !
Thank you making the experience perfect !
Some of the BEST FOOD EVER. Only negative: too much chicken! Super tasty, intense flavors. Can’t wait to return!! Fairly priced for quality, flavors, comfort, portions. Bravo!
Ordered one beer on draft for $8. The smallest beer I’ve ever seen. No description of number of ounces on menu. Then charge for the entire 750ml bottle of beer when I only had one glass. Waiter did fix it when I told him and took the entire charge off.
It was freezing 69 degrees inside according to the thermostat behind my guests head.Music was blaring loud. I’m 35. Moved outside. Not what I expect from Thomas Keller. Small protein portion of dinner. Sauce way too spicy. I’m from Texas and love a good bbq sauce, but this was not balanced. Wine list marks up considerably higher than it should be. I would prefer dining at Bouchon if I’m going to spend $100 pp.
