At Acquolina, we endeavor to create a vibrant and lively atmosphere where our patrons can revel in the experience of an authentic and “regional” Italian meal. We were disappointed. The service was not good, and they knew it and didn't try to fix it. We ordered the Chicken Parmesan and Spaghetti & Meatballs. The chicken came out and then we sat, and sat, and sat, and we finally asked if the spaghetti was coming. The server went and asked and it still took a while for it to come out. By then the chicken was cold, and the chicken itself was quite overcooked. The spaghetti was perfectly fine. The brussels were good. The server never apologized or anything until we brought our bill and just said "we took of the sparkling water" which was $7. He knew it was garbage service and never asked us how we were doing or if we liked our food. There are plenty of places around--we will not return.

One of the worst meals I have ever had. Calamari was like rubber bands and the tiramisu was soggy I see why it’s empty

Casual, relaxing dining experience with excellent food and service. Warm, friendly accommodating staff. Nice location across the street from Washington Square in North Beach.

My friends and I were there for SF Week and tried their 3 course menu. Everything tasted really good. The calamari was a bit dry, but everything else was well prepared. The pastas and risotto were very tasty. The portions were generous.

Hostess rather inattentive - standing less than 1 foot in front of here and I had to get her attention to ask to change tables - but our server was excellent ! Bruschetta was great, in season tomatoes, olive oil, vinegar & garlic on grilled bread. House salad was tasty but a bit overdressed for my liking but my friend enjoyed it. We ordered one of the “special pastas” Cacio e Pepe. The menu says prepared table side but we were seated outside and opted to forgo going inside to see it. Pasta was perfectly al dente and we could really taste the Parmesan cheese but the “pepe” was lacking. Lovely lemon cake and a GREAT espresso for dessert.

I had the best experiences at Aquolina! Marco and all the Aquolina Family are wonderful! The pasta with a side show, fantastic! Kale salad seasoned with a drizzle of balsamic reduction, just pops in your mouth! I’m obsessed with Aquolina!!! 🥰💞✌🏽🥂🍝☺️😋

Love this place! They made my birthday dinner so special but, the best thing I enjoyed is that someone left there wallet and I got a phone call later asking if it was me. That level of customer service is A-1! Will definitely be back.

The waiter is from Italy and very friendly when engaged, I had lasagne, which was fabulous!!! My friend had the caprese salad and loved it. Our plates were clean!! Service was just right😄

What a TOTAL letdown. The pizza was the only saving grace. The other items were horrible! They are pulling a fast-one with the "cocktail" menu. There are no actual spirits in the cocktails. According to another review (I read them after my experience) there is very, very small print saying that the cocktails are really just wine and other things.. Shady. Do yourself a HUGE favor and skip this place and book Original Joe's across the street. Trust me.

Receptionist was not very friendly and was lazy when asked questions. Server was not very good. Asked for bread to go with pasta. Pasta served, no bread until halfway through meal. Note: we were the first customers to arrive.

Seemed more upscale place on line. Had a reservation, but had no table for 4. Told that was going to be a problem. Took a high top table for 8, but not comfortable.Celebrating a birthday which we noted on line, but wasn’t even mentioned. Why asks, if you aren’t going to even mention??? For the money, I didn’t expect to be rushed. Also, I didn’t like the cc service fee. As everyone uses cards, it’s ridiculous. Food was fine, but not at all for a special occasion.

It was our first time at Acquolina. We ordered a caprese salad (good - fresh ingredients), risotto with crab (mediocre - expected more flavor), and pasta with the ground wild boar (okay - flavor was good but expected more). The service/waitress was awesome but based on previous reviews we had expected more.

This was our third time here and now our last. Service was nonexistent. Be sure to check your bill as we were first overcharged for an entree, waited a very long time to get this corrected; then noticed an extra ten dollars added on for a bottle of wine, and again for the entree. It seems a sort of scam practice in a tourist area? We didn’t appreciate it. Food this time mediocre at best. So many great places in the city to enjoy so bye bye Aqualino.

we went for restaurant week. had seafood pasta and it was horrible. pasta is way undercook, shrimp was way overcooked. had 10 mussel shells but no mussels. was not happy with 20% gratuity and try to charge us $10 for credit card processing fee without asking us. will not be going back

expensive and not good. risotto was undercooked, and came with very few shrimp. gnocchi was mushy and was tiny. caesar dressing tasted strange and was oddly watery. just those three things were nearly a hundred dollars.

Excellent Italian food! Awesome neighborhood gem, definitely recommend the eggplant parmigiana and the black truffle pasta prepared tableside. Amazing dishes. Great lively ambiance to boot.
