My wife’s birthday.
Just a great place, meets top standards for fine dining. No hard liquor served, but wine list is great. Each dish is perfect.
The wine list was great but the food quality was mediocre at best.
Anniversary. Amazing dinner
Could not have been better
Outstanding in every way. Worthy of Michelin two stars. They took special care of one of our parties’ members that needed to be gluten free.
Amazing food! The house special rigatoni with foie is to die for.
We did not know what we went in to and were blown away!
Thank you for a great dinner!
A fantastic place for a celebration and we had a wonderful 5th anniversary with friends at this classy, old school italian in Nob Hill. Following drinks at Top of the Mark we enjoyed 3-4 courses each of wonderfully flavourful food. As the booking was late I didnt have a chance to enjoy the excellent looking cheese trolley but maybe next time. The service was warm and professional and the sommelier was amazingly knowledgeable and passionate. I am definitely looking forward to coming again. What a memorable night. It is expensive, and the wine is especially so which is why I marked it as such. But this is after all, two star michelin food in a very expensive city!
Amazing staff, food and vibe.
Food and the service was impeccable, one of the great restaurants of the city
I enjoyed everything from the moment I arrived to the moment I left.
Half-way through every meal here I begin to plan my return visit: it's exceptional on every level.
Best meal and dining experience I've ever had!
A. Is always a superb dining experience, and this time there were no loud guests to ruin the mood.
One of the best dining experiences I've ever had. The food was delicious and imaginative. The service impeccable.
Second time dining here. Really great, creative food. I love that food is not overly rich, with the exception of a mercifully small chef's surprise portion of rigatoni with fois gras sauce (crazy good, but just a taste was plenty). She made a frothy lobster foam on my ravioli that was like eau de lobster. Desrts are fun, visually appealing and delicious. Service is impeccable.
Everything is perfect but the food is a little salty.
Acquerello is an exquisite dining experience. Service is impeccable. Tables arranged so you have adequate space. Wine list is extensive. Food planning and preparation are worthy of its 2 stars.
Excellent food, fantastic service, great atmosphere
We love the food, the various surprises, the service, the ambiance. We’ll go back!
Amazing birthday dinner for my hubs!
Outstandingly restaurant. Spectacular meal. One of the best ever.
Sommelier was personable and helpful.
When asking for assistance in orienting us to the menu, including my 16yo daughter, server seemed irritated.
This restaurant may be more suited for sophisticated foodies. Still though, the staff should welcome a new guest’s curiosity and not demean them for not knowing what all of the fancy foods and accompaniments are.
Sometimes Michelin-starred restaurants end up being disappointments, e.g., pretentious staff, microscopic portions, exorbitant prices, etc. But Acquerello fulfilled all of our expectations, and gifted us with a memorable dining experience. The complimentary extras were a great surprise!
We were seated right next to the heat vent and I asked if they can kindly turn it down but the staff was rude that he couldn't and gave me attitude. It made me sick and sleepy. The food service is super slow. I know it's a 3 hour dinner but they could of picked up the pace a little.
Incredible service - literally perfect. And the food was, of course, excellent :)
Not good value for the money.
Loved the Caviar, Foie Gras Truffle Pasta, and Duck Breast. A bit dated on the ambiance. Excellent Service as to be expected.
Unbelievably delicious. This is how dining should be !
The food, ambiance and service was incredible. This is not the first nor last time we will frequent this restaurant. Remarkable experience.
Every single dish was excellent. Service was spotless. Best dining experience in San Francisco, definitely
Wonderful flavors. Creative exciting food that will delight you.
Wonderful meal and dining experience .
Amazing food, great value for 2 stars!
Acquerello probably doesn't need another great review, but once again, everything we had was amazing. Covered in truffles for my husband cause it was his birthday, but equally great for me, the picky eater. It tastes Michelin starred and it is one of the few restaurants in SF that is. It's pricey, but worth every penny for the food, service, ambiance, etc.. Don't overdo and miss the cheese plate and dessert.
One of my favorite dining experiences ever in SF. Foie gras/pear dish was memorable. Very high quality food, but even better service.
Waiters pester you continuously. You don’t have 30 seconds to have a conversation without being interrupted. They poured the wine into a carafe and then put it on another table and we had to keep asking for it so eventually I had them put the carafe on our table but they did not seem pleased about it.
All in all the food was good and the atmosphere was quiet. But the constant interruptions ruined the enjoyment. Plus they give you about five “chef surprises” and by the time your meal comes you’re full.
Wouldn’t go back and I wouldn’t recommend it.
Acquerello has been a favorite of ours for more than 20 years. There is a lot to love about this place (see the latter part of this review.) This year, however, we ordered the seasonal truffle menu, which was a very expensive mistake (over $700 for dinner for two with a bottle of wine but without the shaved truffle supplement.) Shaved white truffle came on one dish (you could pay even more for more shaved truffle on all the courses--don't) and the truffle was relatively flavorless and didn't have truffle aroma -- it was clearly over, which should have been spotted before the truffle came out. The first course, a truffled custard, was outstanding. The middle course, the signature tube-shaped pasta with foie gras, truffle and Marsala, was also outstanding as usual. The desert was also something to behold. It looked for all the world like a hard-boiled egg served on a fancy plate of greens, but it was really panna cotta, mango puree and a bunch of other stuff I didn't write down and it was very good. The rest of the menu was a disappointment, unfortunately, and we wouldn't order it again. The presentation of each course was, as always, beautiful, but wasn't up to Acquerello's established par (for it's still pricey but less expensive regular menu.) Service was excellent as always--never felt ignored and never felt bothered. Just right.
