Acquerello Ratings and Reviews
Waiters pester you continuously. You don’t have 30 seconds to have a conversation without being interrupted. They poured the wine into a carafe and then put it on another table and we had to keep asking for it so eventually I had them put the carafe on our table but they did not seem pleased about it.
All in all the food was good and the atmosphere was quiet. But the constant interruptions ruined the enjoyment. Plus they give you about five “chef surprises” and by the time your meal comes you’re full.
Wouldn’t go back and I wouldn’t recommend it.
this is the best and most expensive dinner I've ever had. It definitely fits the saying, you get what you pay for. Every detail was in place, even different color napkins based on the pants or dress color. The wine list was beyond belief. I'd love to walk through the cellar! I ordered a magnum which they did not have and the wine steward replaced it with a much better bottle at the first choice price. A special surprise were the three small courses that started the experience before we got to the ones we chose. And the thoughtfulness of a small taste for the guests who did not order a mid-course so they wouldn't have to sit there and watch the rest of us eat! This is as good as it gets. The flavors of various courses were explosive.
We were so lucky to happen upon this restaurant
We were in town for a wedding and wanted a great romantic date night the evening before the wedding
I came across this restaurant and WOW
How lucky we were
We did the seasonal dinner with wine pairing
We dined for 3.5 hours and the time was wonderful
Each and every course
Each and every pairing were over the top
Thank you for a great evening

The service at every level is excellent. The food is superb. Every so often they throw in a small bite for free. I got the 5 course prix fixe, my wife the four course. We had the sommelier choose our pairings for us. I was particularly impressed with the minerally Northeast Italian white paired with the lobster cup pasta. My wife, not a fan of white wine, tried mine then ordered a glass for herself. The key to understanding Acquerello is that the chef/co-owner loves what she does and that attitude filters down to the entire staff. We look forward to our next visit.
We have been at this restaurant before and it was a very good experience in the past. This time service got to be overwhelming with endless descriptions of tiny portions. You could barely put something down before it was whisked away to the point of becoming clear that they wanted us out of there as soon as possible. The clever little portions were mostly decorations rather than substance. For my main course which was advertised as a steak I got two tiny strips of beef about 1 inch wide by three inches long over salted and not very tender. Dessert was very nice. Sorry to see a fine restaurant place so much emphasis on show.
Simply the best meal on the entire West Coast over the past 30 years. We had the seasonal tasting menu with wine pairings and every course was spectacular. The flavors, textures, colors and plating were exceptional. Also, the pacing was perfect- not too fast and not too slow - 9 courses with a few extras. The service team were professional, knowledgeable and friendly. The dining room is beautiful with lovely flower arrangements.
I look forward to returning again and again.
First time dining @ Acquerello, was recommended by a friend. It was our anniversary (marriage); the whole evening from when we first entered until we left was amazing. Great service, wine selection and amazing food; I will be returning for another fine dining experience in the future.
Outstanding in all categories. Food was creative and delicious. The crab cannoli wrapped in cucumber was refreshing and tasty. Dessert was crazy good and fun! So unusual and unexpected but really flavorful. The service was genteel hospitality. A great experience. So good the price didn't sting!
Superior service. Very creative a exceptionally well presented courses. The introductory gratis appetizers and final dessert selection were special treats. Although expensive, the food was definitely worth it for a special occasion. Wait staff were very accommodating and gave excellent explanations of the food choices and ingredients when the food was served. All in all an exceptional evening of dining.
I had been wanting to have dinner for a couple of years. It is fantastic experience: the quality and food creativity, the superb wine selection and the outstanding service is hard to beat. We were pampered all night...it was great!!!! We chose the 3 course prize fix. The Squid ink risotto and the Hazelnut-crusted venison loin were memorable. Thank you for amazing night
After hearing so many wonderful things about this restaurant, and having eaten at several other fine dining establishments over the years, we were still pleasantly surprised at how consistently marvelous and creative everything was. The welcome and service and ambiance were a great start, then once the amazing food began to show up, again and again and again all of our greatest expectations were exceeded. We both tried everything, all wonderful, a really lovely dining experience all around. Very special!
A most beautiful restaurant with the sort of service that is too hard to find these days. When our server saw my red lipstick, he exchanged my napkin for a black one so it wouldn't show. Lovely interior, quiet, romantic - you can actually hear your companion speak. Interesting wine choices plus the expected show-off bottles if you just have to get that champagne magnum. I had a lovely evening. It was comfortable, delicious, and unpretentious for such a luxurious place.
We made a reservation at Acquerello for my friends birthday. A lot of the times when you
travel to a restaurant you don't have time to wash your hands and they started with complementary appetizers from the chef. I politely asked for a fork and the waitress just barked: "That's 'finger food'..." How hard is it to turn around and grab a few forks lady?!
I used to order expensive bottles of wine for dinner all the time but now me and my guests have been taking time off from drinking for a while. You can tell right away that their attitude have changed immediately since we did not order $$$$$$ bottle of wine.
Don't get me wrong the food is great at that place but it's like eating at a European train station. Before you blink an eye they are taking away unfinished plates that you were still enjoying, bread that you were in the middle of eating, Pellegrino water that was still left in the bottle.
I know that they only have a few tables but at the same time don't make me feel like I am at a drive through window at McDonald's.
Would come back for the food but not for the service.
We had an amazing dinner experience. I have a food allergy and they were unbelievably accommodating. Everything we ate was not only fabulous, but presentation was beautiful. We definitely recommend for a date night or special occasion. We will be back when we visit the area again.
