This was “The Room” of restaurants; it was so bad that it’s almost funny now.
One never expects a whole lot on Valentine’s Day but this was literally the worst dining experience in my 11 years in New York. While the waitress was very sweet and apologetic it didn’t make up for the wine bottle foil in our inedible bread, the recommended wine (a licensed giambatista valli bottle ... yeah, the fashion designer), the incorrect and horrible appetizer, and cold entrees that we were only able to get one bite into. Simple things like getting a fork was a challenge. No one could tell us what went wrong, like if the chef called out or if the whole kitchen somehow burned down. I’m not someone who writes reviews, EVER. I think of myself as an incredibly passive and understanding person but this was too much. I’ve never done this before but we sent the entrees back. All the tables around us were talking to each other and shocked by how every part of this experience was falling apart for everyone. They were willing to remove the entrees from the bill but I still essentially paid $100 or so to have our Valentine’s Day at Best Pizza at 10:30pm down the street. Yikes.
Outstanding experience is what I have to say about this magical Brooklyn gem! Walking in you get an air of an old speakeasy, to find a beautiful hidden Italian garden in the back. The owner is warm and passionate about the entire dining experience. The excellent attention to each dish, ambience and cozy nature makes this one of my favorite Brooklyn restaurants. We will be back for years to come.
Excellent personal service!
Cute space with tasty food - had the pappardelle with bolognese, seafood linguine and rucola salad followed by tiramisu. Pasta was al denté and the cream on the tiramisu was fresh. Unfortunately, service was ‘meh’.
Had to chase 3Xs for a glass of wine that was ordered and then they tried to charge us for 2 glasses. The most egregious of all was them adding a 28% tip to the bill and then leaving space for _another tip with suggested amounts based on the _new total. Giving them the benefit of doubt since it was New Year’s Eve, so perhaps they were overwhelmed.
A magical grotto of a dining room. Delicious pastas & sauces. And the bread.......
It’s a little weird that a small business would only accept American Express
It was a Birthday dinner, the food was delicious! Waitress was so friendly and nice! we had good time!
I love this place. It's so welcoming and the food is always good. The Spiedino Di Mozzarella is quite and beet gnocchi is enough reason to go, but the specials, the service and the ambiance keep me coming back. Great place for friends or a date. Enjoy!
The food wasn't very good - salmon undercooked, pasta overcooked, some of the apps were OK. The ambiance was nice, although the fly zappers situated around the restaurant caused us to jump every time we'd hear a fly being electrocuted. Service was fine.
Would not try again. The experience we had didn’t align to the other reviews.
When you walk in the front, there’s not much to see. When you head towards the back, it’s really quite charming. It’s definitely not a high end, high service restaurant but the pasta was great. Good selection of wine at fair prices. Beware when it comes time for the bill - they only take AMEX or cash - something I’ve never experienced while traveling before.
Over all a lovely dinner.
Great food great service valeria our server was amazing her recommendations was on point and make our experience unique thanks!!! Definitely will be back!!
It is great for group dinners, we enjoyed the ambiance and the food was nice
Seriously a blast with an amazing attentive staff. Great vibes, will come again and again. :)
Great little spot with the best Fillet of beef. Excellent service.
My friend and I came by to Acqua Santa for a dinner to basically talk all night (sorry - we stayed a bit after closing). I wish I could remember our server's name! Anyway, she's a multilingual Japanese girl from Brasil, super sweet, SO patient, perfect timing throughout the night. I cannot fully recall all that we ate except gnocchi, grilled octopus and burrata, but everything was AMAZING, flavorful, we were wowed at every delivery, and were stuffed by the time we walked out.
Everything was awesome!! Thanks to the waitress and her excellent service, nothing wouldn’t be better without her suggestions!!!
The pasta were unfortunately tasteless, big quantities not very well arranged in the plate. The plate looked like a cafeteria meal. The pasta (amatriciana and safron fettuccine) did not reflect what was written in the menu.
Mediocre food and a server who was obviously new. Soggy crust pizza. Would not go back.
Wonderful. My favorite Italian restaurant in NYC, partly because the decor is so beautiful and instantly puts you at ease. The food is amazing, perfect flavors. And the staff is always so friendly and considerate. I will always come back here.
Incredible food, service, and atmosphere! Great for a group or a date night.
Ambiance is really nice, very cute/romantic patio. Would maybe recommend for a first date, but the food was just OK. Relatively generic, average Italian. We were there relatively early in the evening with only 1-2 other tables and fount the service to be very slow considering so few people were there. Pasta was also way too over cooked and mushy. Again, I'd go for the ambiance, not the food.
Love this place! The grape vines and ambiance make it feel just like Italy. The food and house wine is also great! Great date spot.
Service, food and atmosphere are incredible. Excellent garden for summer hang outs. Menu works with different diets, gluten free, keto, etc. Great wine selection, staff is very knowledgable about wine pairings, and seem to truly love food.
Was pleasantly surprised at how great the food was, the beet gnocchi was exceptional.
Service and food was spectacular!!! We are from Canada but will come visit this restaurant every time we visit New York!!! Thank you for such a memorable night!!!
The most amazing server we have ever had! xo
Phenomenal! Service, food and ambiance were wonderful. There are plants around and grapevines through the entire ceiling. You feel like you are in an Italian garden. Valeria our waitress was very personable. She was very knowledgeable and explained everything to us. She was a pleasure. She really enjoys her job and cares about the establishment. We ordered the grilled artichokes which were delicious. He ordered the whole fish and me the shrimp scampi. We enjoyed our meal. Definitely will eat there again. Highly recommend! This coming from someone who is a real foodie.
Loved this restaurant! We went for my daughter’s birthday and our experience was made even more special by the attentive waitstaff. Everything was a step above.
Did not offer brunch menu on mother’s day. Feels like a cheaply decorated atrium.
Try one of their pizzas! Everything was delicious and our server was super attentive.
Our waitress had know idea on how to describe dishes on the menu. I almost thought she was new. The questions we asked her were questions that she SHOULD’VE known the answers too. Food was ok but I really don’t think I would go back
Very nice patio, with great food. We also enjoyed the wine selection.
Waiters were super weird. Bruschetta was trash. Ambiance felt cheaper than it would be. We felt overdressed
Amazing food, amazing place. Normally the service is top notch, but our gent was on his first night but still sweet and got our food quickly and the other staff was looking out to make sure all was well. But I've been here many times and I always get an amazing meal. Definitely a great place for a date, or even with family or good friends! It's got a great vibe, like you're in your cousin's backyard in Italy! So wonderful.
The only downside is that they accept only AMEX credit cards for some reason. What I really liked was that I ordered off the menu and they acquiesced. LOVED the service and the ambience. They should allow payment with an app like Cinch if they don't like Visa/MasterCard.
The restaurant was REALLY smoky. Call ahead on holidays to see if there is a prix fixe menu. That wasn't clear to us, and it was double the price for things we wouldn't ordinarily have ordered.
Food was average. Used to be much better.
Very friendly staff, good wine menu and large portions for mains
We loved the all of the food. The gnocchi were a stand out- they were delicious I prefer “chewy” gnocchi to the soft ones and thought these were perfect.
Service is very friendly and the indoor garden is a really nice setting for a casual but special dinner.
Lovely and delicious!!!
